The owner, "Mr Boss" IS really kind and helpful, like everyone in his guesthouse. Balconies above the water are great! We did enjoy the place very much.

We were very happy we booked a stay here (and can honestly not understand the poor ratings). The booking includes a boat taxi to and from the island, when we arrived we were warmly welcomed and received all the necessary information. The team takes very good care of their guests and grants late check-outs - as a result, our booked room was still occupied, but we received another one which we could occupy for a few hours until we could move into ours. both rooms were cozy, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and you could choose from a buffet which included fish, meat, but also vegetables, salads and fruits and during the afternoon there is also some snacks provided as well as all day coffee, tea and water. We even received a special plate just made for us since we eat vegetarian food with Tofu and Tempeh (one of the best vegetarian dishes we had during our Borneo trip) The full team is just lovely and friendly, so when arriving we were introduced to the other guests and during the evening there was a birthday celebration from 2 of the guides, so the staff as well as a few locals were celebrating with cake and drinks and we and all other guests were also warmly invited to join the celebration and be part of the conversations. the hotel itself is cute and on stilts with bridges you can watch the sunset or watch small local boats padle by. the restaurant and terrace are the heart of the social area where guests and staff come together and the view is very nice, so we enjoyed especially during the morning watching the boats around us come to life and learn about local life. the booking also included 3 snorkeling trip including gear and fins, in addition we booked 2 discovery dives, the team was knowledgable and again took good care of us so we were able to enjoy the underwater world.

Amazing place for your next diving/snorkeling holidays. The rooms were clean and cozy, the view amazing, the food delicious and Angah immediately made us feel at home. He is a very knowledgeable dive guide and found us the pygmy seahorse, frogfish, ghost pipefish, and even a Pikachu nudi. We were a mixed group with one beginner and one advanced diver and he was very patient and attentive to our beginner while keeping an eye on everyone. So if you are thinking about getting into diving, this would be a great place to get certified (at a fair price). But also our advanced diver had a blast and going on more advanced dives together (e.g. deeper to see the pygmy seahorse) was super fun. The place is not too big, which gives you the chance to have a personalized trip. A big shoutout to the Spheredivers team, this was all in all an exceptional experience.

I booked this place because i saw the overwhelmingly great reviews, which perhaps brought up my expectations a little too high. I stayed a total of 6 nights (which i think is considered long for a typical tourist) and hence had lots of time to experience the stay here and think about my review, which I took extra care to ensure it is as honest and unbiased as possible. The plus points: 1) hardworking staff and reliable service - the transport to and from town at no additional cost is great, at whatever time we require did not have any slip-ups during our entire trip. In fact i can see the driver works hard to ensure that he is always on time. They are very willing to exchange contact numbers so you can contact them directly to arrange your needs. 2) chill and friendly host - Mr Chai is friendly and always answers your question, suggest itinerary if you need. He is a nice chap overall with big plans to open other resorts in other areas. He is also building a swimming pool within Timba Garden. I wish him all the best in his journey. 3) location within an old palm oil plantation - my children enjoy the nature and playing with the cats and observing the chickens and squirrels. We have no issues with the location at all, and also accept the presence of insects (mosquitoes, ants spiders, etc), so just be well prepared with mosquito repellent, anti-itch cream, etc. 4) freshly cooked food - they cook when you appear at the terrace, so food is always served hot. Don’t expect much of a spread, it’s simple breakfast. On request, they can also cook lunch or dinner, again simple dishes, rice with chicken, veg and egg. The price they charge for the dishes are comparable to what you pay in town.

Calm and serene location out of the town. Sadeed very kindly took us to the jetty for our trips to the islands. Clean and comfortable.
