The amenities and place are formidable. We were really near the central part (not enough to go by foot, because we have 2 kids), but indeed is really accessible.

This was a stellar spot from which to enjoy all the Oaxaca has to offer. Our room was very nice and with sufficient light. The courtyard was a daily stop, and the pool added greatly to our days -- with afternoon dips, lovely interaction with other families and poolside bites.

The concept and background of the hotel is fantastic. This is exemplified by the staff who are all great, really friendly and just a joy to be around. The location is just on the outside of the central area of Oaxaca so about 10-15min walk to the town centre which is very relaxing (but it was quite hot when we stayed and so it can be hard to avoid the sun in Oaxaca). The rooms were very clean, bright and comfortable with good ensuite bathrooms. The facilities are ok with plenty of pockets to relax and chill. This hotel does great things for the education of the children of Oaxaca so it was great to be a part of that as the city becomes a more popular destination for tourists.

Historic, colorful town with lots of fabulous restaurants (...
Historic, colorful town with lots of fabulous restaurants (I'm vegan and had no trouble finding many places that were entirely so with exciting menus using local ingredients and sauces). Our favorite was Hierba Dulce but also several other great ones, Herbivora, Veriditas Cocina Vegana). Street scene was always exciting with lots of art (get the graphics passport at one of the gallery/ workshops; get it stamped at each one to get a discount. It comes with a map). We saw several street parades with live bands and giant animated figures in celebration of weddings and graduations. Botanical garden was beautiful but the tour was tedious, with little useful information (but I'm a botanist and I would have preferred to walk around without 40 other people). Monte Alban is magnificent archeological site not far from town. It has excellent signage. Poke around on your own and take your camera. Beware of vendors selling "artifacts that they found in their corn field"-- surely fakes and it's illegal to take real artifacts out of the country.

City is beautiful but overrated.
City is beautiful but overrated. It depends on what else in south you have seen? We have been to other parts of Mexico, Peru, Colombia…Food quality and menus seem overhyped too. I often found myself chewing on corn…

We loved the authenticy of this city. Not a lot of tourists.
We loved the authenticy of this city. Not a lot of tourists. Learn some basic spanish and have google translate at the ready. the food and art is the best part of this city. Outstanding food and Mezcal. Great shopping for all pricepoints. Quality textiles. We came in early April and it was quite hot by mid day but if you walk on the shady side of the street and bring lots of water you will be OK. It cools down to be toterable in the early evening. Alway felt safe and the local people are friendly but not in your face trying to sell you trinkets. It is a relatively clean city and lots of people out and about. The Saturday night life was great. people were out having fun until almost 4 am! I would not recommend staying in the front room of any hotels as the road noise can be loud with lots of buses rubling down the narrow main streets.
Highly reccomend the baked goods at boulent blanc hotel bakery and lunch st LOS Danzantes.( get the mole sampler as an appetizer, you will be blown away by flavor, get extra plantain dumplings and its a meal!
Enjoy a wonderful week in this fabulous city.

Regardless of your interests, there is something here for everyone. We stayed a week and saw ruins, textile artisans, ate well, visited areas of interest and didn't even scratch the surface. Oh, and the food is fabulous.

Since we couldn’t find a large enough vehicle to drive us to the center (Zocalo) We walked from the bus station to the center (Zocalo) with our luggage. I believe it was a 45 min walk. I was amazed that we felt safe walking the streets of Oaxaca with our luggage on hand! Didn’t even get the awkward stare (which I would have done if I’d see some tourists walking with their luggage lol) Oaxaca felt safe to walk the streets. The food, the atmosphere, the culture, the people and other tourist made this experience a very unforgettable experience. We fell in love with Oaxaca! We will be visiting more often.
Excellent location near the zocalo, restaurants and places to eat. Very walkable! It is the cutest budget, boutique hotel with a GORGEOUS, lush courtyard. Rooms are simple, clean, and the property is safe with friendly and accommodating staff. There’s a delicious restaurant right next door and a coffee shop on the next block.
There are many beautiful places to stay in Oaxaca, but this place really gives you the most value while keeping prices accessible.
I will definitely return!
What a great place to stay! It is only 5 minutes walk to the Zocolo. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff is wonderful. There is a beautiful garden courtyard where you can relax at the end of the day and sip the house Mezcal. Breakfast was delicious and varied each day. Sarah does a great job making sure everyone's stay is the best. She puts her personal touch on this small, quant boutique hotel! All of her restaurant and other recommendations were spot on!
Hotel Tabaa is within walking distance from Zocalo, art galleries, restaurants, churches, and mercados. Tabaa exceeded my expectations, its a beautiful hotel property and the safety of hotel patrons is of importantance to the hotel staff which is available on site 24 hours a day. The best part of my stay was meeting Bruno, the hotel mascot. Loved this hotel, I would return to Hotel Tabaa and I highly recommend it to everyone.
The stay at the Happy Hotel was very pleasant. Clearly the most positive aspect of the place is the amazing staff, very nice and professional. The Hotel is very well located near the Zocalo, with a café near by for mornings and evenings. The room was much bigger than expected an this was very well appreciated. The stay was short but a success, the hotel is located in a rather quiet area. Oaxaca is a very beautiful city !
The rooms were much more spacious than I expected. Our room was quiet even with all of the celebrations going on outside for Día de Muertos. The accommodation was clean. The rooftop space with pool was perfect for relaxing for a couple of hours after exploring for the day and before going out for the evening. The hotel was conveniently located. The staff were very helpful and responsive over booking.com and WhatsApp.
We loved all this hotel has to offer! Superb design and comfort, very good location and excellent service combined with charity work. We were delighted by our choice to stay in Hotel con corazon and surprised by the way this hotel has incorporated so much of the local culture. For us all these elements are the essence of travel luxury and in the best value for money ever!
The staff is wonderful, it is incredibly quiet, and it had the best breakfast in my 7 hotels I've stayed at in Oaxaca. I stayed here on two occasions this trip: once with a friend and once solo. The room with the terrace and hammock is lovely and spacious. The entire hotel was quite peaceful - it felt shielded from the hustle and bustle of the street outside.
Hotel Trebol is in a fantastic location in the historical district of Oaxaca city. I felt very welcomed by all the staff in all areas of the hotel. The breakfasts were fantastic with choices every day and healthy choices. Thanks for being top notch and looking forward to staying the next time I visit your magical city.
Good place to stay in Oaxaca City. The hotel is located in the city center and within minutes you’ll reach the heart of everything. Especially the swimming pool and the accompanying beds were great to relax during a hot afternoon. Moreover, the guy at the reception has been very welcoming, kind and helpful to us!
Everything! The best location to walk around with ease and felt cery safe. So central but without noise. Spotlessly clean and very kind, helpful staff in all areas from reception, dining / kitchen staff nd the wondergil Oscar. Thankyou to all of you. Good sized room. A real gem of a small hotel.
The hotel is very close to everything, and across the street from one of the best bakeries in Oaxaca, Boulenc. The breakfast was delicious! The Staff was exceptional. The design is unique and comfortable. There are quite a few lounge areas in the courtyard. We will definitely stay here again!
The hotel is very close to the center, therefore it was very comfortable, this is the best part of the hotel. The staff was very helpful and active for our requests and questions. The provided free water in the corridor was very nice detail. The building and the patio is so beautiful.
This Boutique Hotel was very clean, well maintained and comfortable. The entire staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is situated close to the city center and is a very short walking distance to restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, etc.
This is a great hotel conversion of an old home. Beautifully done. Hotel is small and cozy. Location can't be beat. You are within walking distance of major attractions of Oaxaca City. The price is a great value. Service is excellent.
Cute boutique hotel in a great location. The staff are friendly and the common areas are very picturesque and calming. It's worth staying a couple of nights if you're in luck with availability.
We loved everything about this beautiful boutique hotel. Gorgeous rooms, amazing service, beautifully designed and a wonderful rooftop bar and adjoining cafe. The location was perfect too.
The staff is incredibly kind and helpful. They really are the best part of the hotel. Also the design and comfort of the physical space is very lovely .
