Wow, this place is a gem! We ended up staying an extra night as the room was gorgeous - the photos did not disappoint. The owner and staff were fantastic - warm, hospitable and always available to answer our questions and assist in making our stay memorable. My husband was under the weather when we arrived and they took the time to prepare a special meal of beautiful soups and nourishing food as well as a lemon-ginger herbal tea. Breakfast was huge and dinner was excellent. No need to eat elsewhere. The owner is a designer and museum curator - his artistic touch and authentic Moroccan design shines everywhere.

The monument of an eccentric genius. A once in a lifetime experience. The current management is equally eccentric, but who cares?

Riad Dar Dzahra, hotel in Taroudant

Located in the city center, this characteristic Moroccan-style guest house sits in a 300-year-old building with garden and outdoor pool. It offers soundproofed rooms, just 328 feet from the souk.

Well renovated traditional old house with very atypical architecture. The interior of the rooms was very nice and clean. Facility provides a lot of space, there is a bar, relaxation area on the rooftop, seating and chairs by the pool. Unfortunately, i was probably out of season and that's why nothing was ready. Although it is in the middle of town it was quite there.

Dar Zahia, hotel in Taroudant

Dar Zahia is an Amazigh-style guest house, located a 5-minute walk from Taroudant souks. It offers a shaded, rooftop terrace and 2 patios. Some rooms at the Dar Zahia feature a private terrace.

Down a short cul de sac in the Medina , the entrance door led into a very beautiful , green courtyard garden area with a fountain … such a pleasant atmosphere . Our rooms were adjacent to each other on the garden floor . Upstairs where our breakfasts and dinners were served was also was filled with climbing trees , bugenvia, palms and cactus . Birds chirped at dusk and two doves were building their nest above the fountain. Our warm and friendly hostess Zenia ( spelling ?) greeted us and took such good care of us during our entire stay . The breakfast was varied and complete with toast , crepes , cheese , yogurt ,jams and honey and a large pot of brewed , hot coffee . We had two delicious dinners served in the candle lit courtyard , while classical piano music played softly nearby. Both my sister and brother-in-law are excellent cooks themselves , but they raved about the French -Moroccan cuisine that was prepared by our smiling and talented cook. The beautifully understated interiors and the fantastic old adobe architecture highlighted the ambiance of this magical Riad .

Taroudant is a small city full of life.

Taroudant is a small city full of life. There is central place were everyone gather, including the few tourists, to eat and be together. We really enjoyed the sook of course, were we could find nice marocain kraft and sweets for a reasonable price (vs expensive Marrakech:) Next time I would stay inside the kasbah to be closer to the central square.

What you feel about Taroudant will depend on what you expected. We’ve been on the road three weeks so it, to us, was a small and relaxed souk. Similar to Rabat in many ways you won’t get too much hassle.

I have visited Taroudant twice and I was never impressed.

I have visited Taroudant twice and I was never impressed. However, I have stayed outside of Taroudant in a wonderful old kasbah while traveling through Morocco. That stay has always been a highlight.

    Taroundant is a wonderful city.

Taroundant is a wonderful city. It is a beautiful walled city & you can stay inside or outside. Different markets; Grand Souk & Berber souk inhabit the centre & are a maze of colour & excitement. There are western style & Moroccan restaurants & people are very friendly. Outside the city there are wonderful restaurants; eg Les Jardins, Dar Zituone, & places to visit; Agadir (1.5 hours), Chateau Claudio Bravo, botanic gardens etc. It is a clean small city with a good vibe.

    A wonderful experience !

A wonderful experience ! The ‘ real ‘ Morocco IMO , unspoiled by tourism . We were looking forward to the Sunday Market , but it was very disappointing. Lots of vegetables ( available everyday in the Medina) and a sheep and goat section, but mostly Chinese goods and farm implements . We took a horse drawn carriage in the Medina a couple of times …it was cheap and pleasant . The locals were quite friendly and a visit to the Berber and Arab handicraft markets were interesting . All in all a great visit for a couple of days . Don’t miss the Palm oasis and Ancient Kasbah about a half hours drive from the Town center.

Lively city, good souks, lots of interest.

Lively city, good souks, lots of interest. Very little hassle so easy to wander round and enjoy the sights. Ideal for winter spring and autumn but would be blistering hot in summer. Perfect distance for a couple of days out from Agadir.

Great breakfast and very warm people. Absolutely stunning interior and garden with beautiful flowers and citrus trees full of fruits. The pool was ever so lovely in the middle of it all. Everything was nice and clean. Loved the soft bath robes ready in the bathroom. The shower itself was a surprisingly nice element to everything mentioned above. Can not recommend this enough. Everyone travelling in this area should have it in their bucket list. Hands down the most beautiful place in Morocco!

Beautiful Riad in Taroudant (the little Marrakesh). Beautiful rooms and very comfortable beds. Nicely located next to the square and the souq. The service was amazing and we had a nice breakfast. The evening before I asked if the also serve Amlou (which is argan cream mixed with almonds and honey) for the breakfast and the receptionist said that they used to serve it but not anymore. Immagine how surprised we were when he served us Amlou in the morning ♡ thank you so much

The apartment has all of the amenities you need. It is very spacious and comfortable, with good beds and blinds that block out the light completely. We particularly liked the coffee machine. The shower is also great, hot and good water pressure - a rare combination in Morocco. The hosts are excellent, very friendly, helpful and receptive to messages. The location is ideal, just a few hundred metres outside the city walls in a quiet new development.

The location was good near the central square, not difficult at all to find. The riad is a wonderful property, full of charm & character. It is nothing short of a carefully designed set for a romantic movie. The rooms we had were good in size, had good bathroom layout with separate toilet room & shower booth, naturally ventilated. It had a pool, a wonderfully exotic garden and an empty land plot behind the property as parking. But...

Wonderful place in an authentic and typical Marocan city. The friendliest and most helpful owner and his wonderful staff. I was even invited to a traditional evening. I had dinner in the hotel as well and as a vegetarian i really appreciateed the veggy Tajine the prepared for me. I got great support with my traveling plans. The pool is wonderful and the entire atmosphere charming and easy ... most relaxing days.

If you are visiting Taroudant try to stay at Tania’s riad. You won’t regret it. Thanks Tania for sharing your lovely riad with us travellers. By the way Tania is a great chef as well! We stayed at many places in Morocco, and out of all of them we enjoyed La Maison Anglaise the most. The dinners are incredible. Stay in and eat amazing Moroccan food. The garden is beautiful. The staff are so polite and helpful ...I even had my car washed! The 20m pool is perfect if you like to swim laps. The rooms are tastefully decorated. Superb!
