This was a great location for visiting Siena and the local region. Although on a bus route the buses aren’t very frequent so it is certainly easier with a car. Parking available at the property. Good restaurant next door - but sadly not at all good for vegetarians! The monastery on top of the hill is a must - we had a drink up there in the bar - but the food in the restaurant looked great too and was reasonably priced. A great base for visiting Tuscany.

The property and staff was amazing and they were able to recommend restaurants, arrange taxi service and especially the wine tour to the Mazzie Winery in Fonterutoli. We visited the Duomo complex and were impressed with the splendour of the Cathedral, the Bapistry and the Crypt but The Piccolomini library was the most impressive part of the complex for us.
