The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help. My mother has dementia and lost her appetite and they made wholesome meals that she could eat that were light.

The park where the Greek ruins are situated is quite isolated, so if you are coming by public transport give yourself plenty of time to get there before dark. There is nothing much around there at night.

Paestum has an AMAZING set of well-preserved ruins, considering they were build some 2,500 years ago! We spent about 3-4 hours there (a little over an hour in the museum, and then a few more hours walking through the ruins. They were amazing to behold. The app downloaded from the museum website (Parco Archeologico di Paestum) was very helpful to learn about the ruins as we walked through them. The kids got rather tired though, so it was good to have a gelato break after leaving the ruins at the nearby cafe.

Some of the finest Greek temples in the world...in Southern Italy! Not to be missed. After time in Venice, we took the train to Bari, rented a card and (in turn) visited one day/night in: Alberobello, Matera, and Paestum. What a wonder trip. It was off-season, which just meant there were no crowds. We had a wonderful time! After Paestum we continued to the Amalfi coast, Pompeii and then to Rome.

Paestum is a fascinating historical site.
Paestum is a fascinating historical site. It has been well preserved and is well worth exploring. The archeological park is well maintained and easy to see in about four hours. The adjacent museum is very new, with an interesting collection of artifacts found in the park. The shops and restaurants lining the roads along the park boundary are fairly typical tourist focused businesses. One exception is the “Museum Cafe”, closest to the museum. It has excellent gelato, and even has babas.

The ruins are spread over a very large area and consist of mainly low stone walls but with three large temples still intact. The museum is a wonderful building of marble faced walls & pillars exhibiting many excellent paintings on the recovered stone slabs from the ruins plus jewellry and pottery. Very fine work and gives such a good idea of the lives of the inhabitants and what they admired.
The entrance fee also covers the ruin complex and is a much reduced price for EU citizens.
The modern town is just that and has various usual amenities.

Of all the sites we saw in Magna Graecia, Paestum was for us the highlight. The amazingly well preserved temples, the vast archaeological display of the city, the still-standing walls, the museum.... these are truly a treasure to be treasured and to be enjoyed by those interested in the history of Magna Graecia.
Absolutely amazing! Every detail during our staying was perfect. Milena, the owner, is really kind and gave us a lot of tips and attentions. The cleaning is deep and the place really beautiful. Position is strategic and location so peaceful. Romantic homemade breakfast in the garden… Milena really “spoiled” us with her carefulness 😂
I definitely recommend it for both families and couples. I hope to come back!
One extra tip: better booking an extra night, since the relaxing time spent there feels never enough.
We had a lovely week at the Villa Paestum. Everything was great from beginning to end. Newly renovated house, comfortable beds, and beautiful garden. They served amazing breakfasts. The owners Lorenzo and Ines are so friendly and were very helpful. They gave us good tips on the region, and restaurants. It is a short walk to the beach and in a quiet area of Paestum which we loved. But there’s everything you need close by including the yummy food at the Pizzeria next door. We were sad to leave.
La Chora di Paestum felt like three days in the country in a more gentle time - while still being walking distance to the Parco Archeologico and a short drive to the sea. The staff was warm and welcoming and the breakfast, exceptional. Special kudos to Mary who makes the best cappuccino in the land. Comfortable bed, spacious and up-to-date bathroom, and our room had a lovely view over the garden. We are already thinking of reasons to go back…
We have been to Paestum four times now, staying in town once before. Our stay at Casa Rubini for this holiday was perfect! We did self check-in, as we were arriving late. We had two rooms close to each other on request. The rooms are extremely clean and thoughtfully decorated for comfort and practicality. WiFi was perfect! breakfast from 8:30-10am was delicious and Veronica is so kind and helpful. we will definitely return!
The location is perfect as it is near to the archeological side. There are various restaurants offering tasty Italian food to choose from in the same street.
The breakfast is good too: cornetto (Italian croissant) with various spread/ jam, coffee, juice, yogurt. The staff was attentive & offered me extra cornetto as I finished mine.
Also they clean the room every day, feel wonderful to have clean room after the day out
The room and the bathroom are very functional and beautifully decorated. In fact, the whole hotel is in very good taste. The dinner was great and made with local ingredients. Davide and his mother, who is a great cook, are very friendly and helpful. We have been to many places in Italy and have met many friendly hosts, but Davide tops them all. Very convenient parking. We highly recommend this place.
Beach club was a nightmare on a Sunday and the hotel did not mention bringing my own towel! With a lot of difficulty, them no English and me no Italian, the bus driver brought me a towel from the hotel on his next drop off.
I absolutely loved the Spa and used it thoroughly. Little bit disappointed to be charged another 50 euro for the hour my business colleague used it for however.
In fifty years of travelling I have stayed in many many places. But the place of Elsa e Cristoforo is definitely one of the top places. They even invited me for dinner and we had a very nice evening together. And in the morning Cristoforo took me by car to the train station. This is the place where you really feel at home - or even better. Thank you so much Elsa and Cristoforo!!
The hotel was very clean and in a central location for us.
The staff were very friendly especially Christina, Roy and Angela who went above and beyond helping our family. I cannot thank them for making my holiday so easy and memorable.
I would definitely go back there just for them
The location was ideal to visit the UNESCO world heritage site and the seaside. Very quiet and cosy atmosphere. The really friendly host was wonderful; he even picked me up from the station. I definitely got the best breakfast during my two weeks stay in Italy. Excellent coffee.
A wonderful, restful oasis for visiting the archaeological site in Paestum or going the beach. Or simply exploring the area. The breakfast is delicious, prepared with ingredients grown on site or locally. Davide speaks excellent English. The grounds are immaculate.
Very friendly staff, most of them have english and if not use google translate and they will perfectly understand you.
