Everything: Very new building: large room and bathroom, (we were in a familiar bedroom) comfortable beds and clean. Very good and complete breakfast. Good location, in the middle of the town, close to the harbour and the house light from where we saw northern lights.
Take care if you arrive late in the night because the front door is not obvious to open. Check before leaving. The reception is empty so we had to call the person in charge and he came quickly from outside also.

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels very much away from it all. The roads in and out aren't the easiest depending on the weather. We visited in early April and got stuck in snow (twice!) on the way in taking the northern road then feared getting stuck due to road closures and difficult driving conditions on the way out but we made it. Because of this we didn't get to see as much as we'd have liked. But we did have excellent takeaway fish and chips from the harbour front at Hafnarvaginn

Small, quiet (at this time of year) but very peaceful and beautiful! We caught our best show of the northern lights here! Also, would highly recommend Narfreyrarstofa for dinner, delicious and great atmosphere!

I loved the small-town vibe and charming Icelandic architecture located on an active harbour. Beautiful ocean views from the harbour-adjacent island walk! Enjoyed soaking at the local pool/hot pots, and happy to have a bakery, grocery store, and restaurants to choose from for meals. I would gladly stay here again, or for more than one night to see some of the local museums which were closed over Easter weekend.

The staff was excellent and very accommodating. They knew the area well and could recommend meals and other services to us. We ate at a very nice fish restaurant where the one waitress ran the entire restaurant efficiently and in a timely fashion.Great food

Great location on north side of peninsula.
Great location on north side of peninsula. Wish we’d had more time to explore. Excellent northern lights viewing near the lighthouse. Go up the stairs toward the lighthouse and turn left to block harbor lights.

It is a nice little town by the sea.
It is a nice little town by the sea. There is a small hill by the harbor you can climb that offers beautiful views. There are also a few restaurants, cafes, shops and museums but it is also nice to just walk around.
i would love to say a huuuge THANK You for the owner(Skarph ?) to having us in this beautiful gem. loved this cosy , super clean warm hotel.
we arrived there at 29 may, booked the cheapest priced room, but the owner upgraded us because the hotel was not fully booked that day.
i was so happy. :) so we got the room 7 with a wonderful harbor view.
i would definitely recommend this Hotel to everyone who would love to spend time in Stykkyholmur.
oh!!! and dont forget to drink coffee there :) it sooo tasty :)
This is a lovely boutique hotel in a charming old building on the harbor. The rooms were small, but comfortable and clean, with modern bathrooms, comfy beds, and cute decor. The lobby is a fun place to hang out for a drink and to peruse their diverse book collection on art and nature in Iceland. The breakfast served on site was delicious. Our hosts helped us with dinner reservations both nights at Narfeyrarstofa, which was fabulous!
The Akkeri Guesthouse was just perfect in every way. It was located right in the center of town with easy walking distance to restaurants etc. The owners were personable, helpful, available to talk, and easy to know. They shared a lot about their personal Iceland experiences and advice about travelling. The breakfast was delicious and even included homemade bread. It was almost like staying with old friends.
After nearly two weeks in Iceland our stay at Helgafell will go down as one of our absolute favorites. The privacy and coziness of Lara’s cabin were everything we could have asked for on a getaway with everything you need to make yourself at home. Abundant linens, warm water, privacy curtains, a place to park, a two burner cooktop, and plentiful heaters helped make it a perfect stay.
Nice little cottage/apartment in the outskirts of Stykkishólmur. It has all the facilities with a mini kitchenette where you can cook. Has a nice sofa and overall well maintained.
I had read reviews that had expressed concerns about the bedroom in the attic which is almost like crawling space, but we had no problems with it.
Overall, a nice stay with great value for money.
It was a family owned hotel, which was nice. Everyone was very kind. I asked for a gluten free breakfast option, and they had bread and delicious cereal, on top of their other breakfast offerings. The room was HUGE! It was also very quiet. We slept really well.
That was one of the best hotels I stayed in Iceland so far. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Hotel is located on the hill with an amazing view. We were also lucky to see Northern Lights. Everything was amazing and I definitely recommend this hotel.
The guesthouse is so beautiful and well located.
The common area is spacious and nicely decorated as the room.
The bed was comfortable.
The bathroom was very clean.
The staff was very nice.
We did the check in in the hotel near the guesthouse.
Super responsive host, contactless check in, gorgeous sea views, comfy bed, great shower, well-equipped kitchen, free parking, walkable to restaurants and town, quiet and comfortable, in-unit laundry; one of the best places we stayed in Iceland
We were so glad to have stayed here. Lovely and clean hotel. Our room was spacious, charming, and comfortable and we enjoyed the town. We appreciated the breakfast spread and quiet music playing while we ate.
the host was very nice and accommodating. We loved the location in Stykkishólmur, it was an easy walk to local spots and restaurants. The breakfast was a nice touch.
Great location next to a golf place, comfy kitchen with everything you need, super clean. It's a self check-in hotel, so you can travel without pressure.
