Beautiful historical building in the midst of golf fields and nature! Amazing place to come with small kids as well - we’ve been playing outside all days! Good was good and super friendly staff! We also went for a nice walk to near by town called Malahide - some very good restaurants are there!

It was a nice hotel with great friendly staff but last night we realized that our room had water damage and corner of the room was all wet with sticky water. Location and parking were great just the water leak issue.

Highly recommend!
12 of 10 stars for two stays in this exceptional hotel on a quiet street. Our first night was arriving in Dublin and we liked it so much we returned at the end of our travels. The airport shuttle was a big plus.
All hotel staff we encountered were pleasant, helpful, and professional in every aspect. Appreciated the unexpected surprise of early check-in. Rooms were well-appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Quiet for a good night's sleep.
Breakfast, served in a dedicated area in the hotel, was very good and well organized with a number of options. A welcoming, no-stress place to refresh after a long flight and/or to prepare for the trip home.
Set in an 11th-century castle the Clontarf Hotel combines ancient architecture with 21st-century facilities.

The hotel was very nice and our room was comfortable and clean. The location was gorgeous. Breakfast was included and had a large number of choices to suit all tastes. Malahide is a lovely town and very easy to walk around. If you wish to travel further, there are trains and busses to Dublin and other nearby towns.
Portmarnock itself beautiful. Safe beach, great walk between Portmarnock and Malahide and great golf. Can recommend Lali’s local restaurant, Jameson’s bar at the Portmarnock hotel and Malahide for bars, restaurants and retail therapy

Lovely walks along the coast, neighbouring Malahide is about a 40 minute walk where there are many great bars and restaurants. Great golf courses in Portmarnock, restaurant & bar options are limited.

We stayed here to be close to the airport because we had an early AM departure. It was an easy 15 min drive to DUB via back roads. The hotel was fabulous, the ocean views were spectacular and the room was very clean.

Fantastic location on a beautiful wide beach with wonderful walking possibilities eg 45 minutes to Malahide on coastal promenade, also great walks from Howth on headland in opposite direction, choice of 6k, 7k and 11k walks. Howth itself is a pretty fishing village with lots of fresh fish for sale and restaurants around the harbour area. Malahide Castle also a short drive with its lovely grounds and Avoca restaurant. Also a great value hotel with lots of quality and service for the money. Reception staff really helpful and breakfast super. Golf course is beautiful, quite expensive but deals available on the hotel’s website. I think the hotel would be more expensive if it had a pool and maybe tennis courts. But the beach on your doorstep makes up if the weather is good. Highly recommend, 9.5 out of 10

The location of the hotel is a significant benefit; The advantage of being so convenient to Malahide in one direction and Howth in another direction provides for additional options. The quality of meals was excellent despite the restrictions posed by the ongoing pandemic (Covid 19).

Portmarnock Hotel and Golf is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in.This was our third stay and we will go again as soon as we can. Wonderful facilities, staff and surroundings. Highly recommend it to anyone
The thing that made the difference between deciding never to go back again or possibly returning was the friendliness of the staff. They are everything you would like to have - smiling, helpful and chatty without being imposing. Portmarnock beach is literally outside the door and we had a wonderful long walk on one of the days we stayed. Also, the proximoty to Dublin Airport was a big selling point for us. It was only a 15/20 minute drive.
Location was lovely. Food was good and bar staff and waiting staff were excellent. We complained about unacceptable rooms and we were moved to another area of the hotel which was like stepping into another world. Decor better and room much better than the original offering. If we had not been offered this alternative accommodation we would have left .
The room was lovely, clean, as expected.
The bar area was quite pleasant also.
I had dealings with the hotel staff in the run up to my stay as I had alot of bookings under my name.
Lorraine was very helpful with any queries I had also another lady who was working with Lorraine, unfortunately I cannot remember her name.
The room was awesome…great views of the golf course and ocean/beach areas.
Comfy beds, linens, and towels, etc.
Extremely clean.
Staff were welcoming, professional and always helpful.
The breakfast and early dinner that we enjoyed were top notch.
The whole experience brought back memories of coming to Ireland when I was younger with my parents
The hotel was excellent, the staff are a credit to the facility.
Will be returning again may that be for work or with my family.
location is top class with magnificent sea views across the golf course and sand dunes - the hotel is comfortable and the dining, seating and relaxation areas are spacious. The rooms were spacious also and the bed comfortable
