The castle itself was absolutely spectacular.

The castle itself was absolutely spectacular. We went for a family wedding and it could not have been more special. The staff were friendly and really helpful despite many guests milling around. We stayed in the converted piggeries (?) about 500 yards from the main castle, the accommodations were amazing, massive apartments, big bedrooms. Ladies, if you wear heels take some flatties to walk up to the castle...just saying. Before we had the wedding breakfast whilst the photos were being taken, we had waiting on staff wandering round with trays of tiny mouthfuls of food (amuse bouches), like teeny hamburgers, tiny cottage pies (so yummy) little filo horns filled with curry, tiny samosas, blinis with cream cheese and salmon....too many different things to list, all excellent. As well as trays of champagne, whisky and prosecco. We had the wedding breakfast in the main hall and it was incredible. The food was delicious and hot, service was stately and made us feel very special. The castle itself was like an enchanting maze and they had their own irish wolfhound puppy who was so gorgeous and bouncy as only puppies can be, raising smiles and pats wherever she went, she was captivating. The chapel that the wedding was held in, was simply stunning and the singer, provided by the castle, was ethereal and added exponentially to the magic of the day. We had a bat-astrophe, as a small juvenile bat fell from the ceiling of the chapel before the wedding began, and landed on the floor, a little dazed and confused, the staff were calm and obviously well accoustomed to this, they calmly brought a lined box and gloves, scooping up the tired bat to be treated and allowed free later. So, all-in-all a totally magical day. Highly recommend this gorgeous place.
