Ballybunion is one of those small traditional Irish holiday towns. It has not changed much over the years. The main attraction is the beach (if you are not a golfer). There are a few beaches in the town, each has their own unique selling points. The Ladies (perfectly frames between two cliffs), Mens (longer walks) and Nun's beach (only accessible by rope). Each are different. There are a few pubs and restaurants and a gaming arcade which is great for kids.

The beach is well-known and popular.
The beach is well-known and popular. It's not the only local beach but it's good and Ballybunion town is good for tourists with kids. Of course golfers come here too. There are places to snack, souvenir shops and supermarket shopping etc. You don't have to stay right in town as there are plenty of good b&b's a couple of minutes drive away.

A stunning seaside experience.
A stunning seaside experience. Two lovely safe beaches, one with a little surf action. The sun sets directly in front of the castle ruin on the promontory. Typical small village with typical pubs and food options. We stayed at the Marine Hotel which was a little pricey but very good - over the road from beach access and green area. The restaurant there has a good menu with much seafood available. We found it very enjoyable.

One way street system very safe but cumbersome.
One way street system very safe but cumbersome. Parking difficult good value in the car park, 2 euro for the day. Ate in the hotel, the meal was lovely, /cocktails were all 10 euro, pricey but worth it.I was very disappointed with breakfast selection, a full irish with no egg!!!!!
Staff were lovely.
The Harty Costello guest facilities are on the floor above the restaurant, which was unfortunately closed in May. There is a communal sitting area with great photos, a comfortable breakfast room, in addition to the guest rooms that were large with a nice sitting corner. Perfect location in the center of town. The highlight was the host, Jackie, who took great care of us and told some fantastic stories about Ballybunion.
The hotel is small but what a lovely ambiance. The friendliness of the owners transmits to the staff. The menu is excellent and simple. The gardens are a real appeal for a pre or post dinner drink with table service provided. They accommodated early starts at breakfast without an issue. Will certainly go back and have already recommended it to my friends.
It was probably the nicest and cleanest B&B I've ever stayed in. There wasn't a spec of dust to be found anywhere. The hosts were super friendly. The rooms were spacious and towels changed each day. The breakfast was lovely. The grounds are lovely and the view of the sea from our room was beautiful. It's the jewel in the crown of Ballybunion.
Location was great. We were golfing at Ballybunion which was literally across the street. Breakfast was great. I specifically asked for a diet Coke versus coffee and my request was granted. My luggage had been lost and staff was very accommodating about letting me use their laundry faciliites.
The friendly staff and exceptional service of this hotel, restaurant, and bar should be a benchmark for what every hotel needs to strive for. What a pleasant surprise. The food and beverage are also magnificent. I wish our trip would have allowed 7s to stay longer.
The hotel was clean, comfy and in an excellent location. A few minutes walk from the beach and in the centre of town.
Jackie is an excellent host and his team are so kind, accommodating and professional. We couldn't have asked for more.
Hotel is fabulous. It's a small boutique hotel, rooms and bathroom beautiful decor. Breakfast menu very nice, good variety of choices Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Really enjoyed our stay there and will be back again.
Excellent friendly service, so helpful & accommodating. Delicious breakfasts! Couldn't beat the location for being so close to the beaches & in town.
Unbeatable evening meal & lovely atmosphere in the pub/restaurant too.
The host James & Mary were a delight. Helpful, warm & welcoming. Location excellent for Ballybunion Golf. Would recommend it for any golfer travelling around.
