I never tire of the views on Folegandros. Belvedere Apartments and next door Miramare Hotel are at the top above the other buildings and have one of the best panoramic views on the island.
My apartment was spacious, very comfortable, and had a kitchenette, sofa, modern bathroom, and an excellent WiFi signal. AC and heat were available. However, neither was needed during this visit. I enjoyed sitting on my terrace mornings and evenings.
There are many apartments but arranged in such a way that there is no noise from the others and each apartment is very private.
Chora is an easy 10-minute walk away, so I walked into town several times a day for a meal, some shopping, a bus to another part of the island, or just to stroll around admiring it's beauty.
For breakfast some days, I walked over to Miramare, which is a nice option, especially for a solo traveler. Belvedere guests can also use the pool.
Port transfers for arrival & departure are included.
This was my 2nd visit to Belvedere. I plan to return next year.

The town absorbed tourists so that they weren't intrusive.
The town absorbed tourists so that they weren't intrusive. The most scenic part of the town was more or less off-limits to tourists. While little shops had popped up all over the town, they were mostly tastefully adorned with a painted sign announcing their name and wares. Probably the tourist and the local weighting of the town was even. I've visited Folegandros numerous times over the past 45 years and I've seen it grow gracefully. In the early days, it was a declining farming island as the young people migrated to the big cities. Then, there was only one hotel in the town. But along the line, it resisted the temptation to sell out like some of the other Greek islands have done and it is now a very restful and satisfying place to visit.

This is a great relaxed town with plenty of dining options on 4 squares, plenty of shops and enough to do. You need a swimming pool at your hotel as beaches are too far to walk. Boat trip around island to reach all beaches was great option. Cheap bus to port every half hour or hire scooter or car. Small island can be covered quickly if you have own transport. Beaches was not our priority so if that's your thing choose a hotel on one of the two inhabited coastal spots! Folegandros is a quaint island with donkeys and rural working farms with enough small beaches if you make some effort from Chora.

The cutest little town on the cutest little island!
The cutest little town on the cutest little island! We rented a quad bike to get around which made it so easy to roam the entire island. Hiking up to watch the sunset at the Church of Panagia is a must! Most restaurants and shops close for siesta between 3pm - 5pm, but the whole town comes to life once the sun sets. We had delicious meals at Piatsa, Souvlaki Club, and Araxe. Parasagas has amazing gelato and the drinks at Aquarius were divine!

1. The church at the top of the hill, accessible through the zig-zag path. You get the best views of Chora from that path. You can see how Chora sits on top of a 200-meter cliff.
2. The spectacular views - so barren, so rocky, so wild but so beautiful.
3. Ano Meria. There are some cool cafes to check out and buy some local liqueur. Do not forget to visit the Folk Museum too. It is very interesting.
4. 1790 Wine Cave. Go for a meal there. It is a high-end restaurant but well worth a visit. It is right next door to Antheia's Apartments.
5. Do visit Canelle Bakery! It is quite hidden but have lovely cakes and pastries.
6. Try the local watermelon pie.
7. Check out Agali Beach for its picture-perfect turquoise blue waters.
8. Try the 52% Rakomelo in the town centre in one of the restaurants. You can see it prominently advertised on the garden wall of the restaurant as you walk around. It is served to you ON FIRE!
9. Try the fig gelato in one of the gelato cafes.
10. Visit Fata Morgana hotel and have a cocktail at its bar. There are some cool cocktails there. And a very friendly bartender works there too. You can ask him about the island of Nysiros if you want to stay on a volcanic island.

Lovely, scenic charming town!
Lovely, scenic charming town! Cute pedestrian streets leading to four main squares. Note that many restaurants aren't open at lunch time during May. To Zimaraki was my favourite dinner place - excellent home made pasta, pizza and salads.

You’ll find lots of cute shops and lovely restaurants with delicious, authentic food in Chora. Transport to the port, nearby beaches is straightforward, but be aware that fir most of the good ones you’ll need to take a boat from Angali or Karavostasi (the port). The landscape is classic Cycladic, rocky and beautiful. The locals are the friendliest I’ve ever encountered. Very authentic, plenty of tourists at high season but somehow not a ‘touristy’ island.

The lady at the front desk has been very helpful at explaining options for things to do on the island. And, because she is from the island, you can learn a lot about history, economics, society, and the culture of this wonderful place.
The staff were incredible during our stay. From the beginning, they arranged our transfer from the port completely free of charge and were very welcoming. They gave us lots of excellent recommendations for trips/excursions on the island. They were more than happy to arrange trips and taxis to local towns.
The room itself was lovely it had everything we needed.
All of the facilities were excellent. The pool was clean and everything was well kept.
Would thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel in Folegandros.
Our stay at Ampelos was exceptional. The spotless rooms, the gardens, the view of Chora and overall appearance of the hotel are excellent. The port transfer was very much appreciated. The breakfast was superb with the freshest bread, yogurt and eggs. What makes Ampelos exceptional are the hosts Areti and Theo, they make you feel very welcome and genuinely care you are have a good time at the hotel and on the beautiful island of Folegandros. It feels like you are visiting friends.
The hosts are just amazing and extremely helpful.
Just ask them for any tips about the island and they will give you all the best advice. Transport from the port to the hotel.
The rooms are big, clean and with the most amazing view. The hotel has an awesome pool which is very nice.
The hotel is a 5 minutes walk away from the centre of Chora, which is the best place to stay on Folegandros.
Thank you so much for a lovely stay, we will definitely come back!
Picture perfect hotel, beautiful gardens with colourful flowers, stunning pool area with plenty of space to sit in sun or shade, helpful staff with exceptional service. Ideal location at the start of Chora town with everything a short stroll away. Views of the town and up to the landmark church.
Rooms clean, comfortable and well equipped, very thoughtfully designed. Free transport to and from the ferry port is a bonus.
This only private residence is part of the hotel. It's very private and quite spacious, more than we expected.
The property has a great view and is so close to the town, which we enjoyed for its great restaurants and shops.
The beach Paralia Agkali is just a five-minute drive with plenty of parking and restaurants.
Don't miss out on a boat tour (we used Sea-U) since you will see the best part of Folegandros.
The property is very comfortable with great views, a pool and excellent facilities, and is just a short walk to restaurants and shops. The host Christina was so helpful with information on how to get to restaurants and beaches. Breakfast was good! The hotel provided a free transfer to and from the port and staff helped us with our very heavy luggage.
The location is perfect, inside Chora, with an amazing view and one of the most beautiful sunset you will ever see.
The staff are all very polite, helpful and kind.
The room is very comfy, very clean and provides all amenities.
Definitely recommend it, if we come back to Folegandros we absolutely want to stay at hotel Odysseus!
Absolutely amazing hotel. Rooms were stunning, breakfast were so good (the best omelette I have ever had), but what’s the most important - service was helpful, caring and more than professional. Thank you for all your support during our trip, great advice and for that we felt so welcome.
The hotel is located in an excellent location (directly across from the bus stop, parking lot, and center of town). The staff are incredibly friendly and so helpful. The front desk was always prompt with any questions or concerns and always readily available to help.
Very well maintained clean and comfortable hotel. Room had a fridge kettle hairdryer and outside chairs. Owner picked me up from port and dropped me off. Close to chora and bus stop. Very peaceful with small pool area with wonderful views and sun beds
This is an excellent hotel. The service is excellent. It is one minutes walk from the village. We where picked up at the port. Vasilis is an excellent host and we where treated with that marvelous greek hospitality. We highly recommend this hotel.
1. Good location. Easy to walk to town.
2. Lovely spacious patio to sit outside and enjoy the view or sip wine.
3. The hostess is friendly and helpful.
4. The hotel surroundings are well-maintained and planted with bright flowers.
This hotel practices false advertising. Its a lie about the adults only hotel . . . nice pool and pool surrounds. The Barman was very nice; very accommodating and he made very good cocktails! It was the best part of the experience for me.
