The location was brilliant right in the centre of the city and in a lovely building with a large well kept garden, a peaceful and quiet place. Breakfast was in a conservatory overlooking the garden and the cooked breakfast option was tasty, and the pastries and croissants were also nice. The rooms were large, comfortable and ours looked out onto the garden. The bathroom was clean and spacious with both a bath and powerful shower.

Everything was superb, there's not a single thing I could criticise. The room (and the entire building) was beautiful and well-appointed as well as spotlessly clean. It seemed newly refurbished and everything was shiny and working perfectly, with an added bonus of free, top-quality filter coffee and chocolate biscuits. Both the evening meal and breakfast were perfect and the staff accommodated all of my requests without question. Amazing ❤️

Winchester is a delightful place to visit.
Winchester is a delightful place to visit. It blends the old with the new extremely well. The cathedral has to be seen inside. A guided tour is available which is essential to appreciate fully the cathedral's remarkable history.
Further attractions are the wide range of excellent restaurants and pubs, museums and historic buildings.

Lovely historical sites and museums.
Lovely historical sites and museums. A walk along the trail was refreshing and seeing Winchester from Saint Catherine's Hill and lunch at the Handle Bar cafe at Saint Catherine's Hill was good value for money, lovely fresh panini's and friendly staff, not to mention the cake.
Plenty of eateries on an evening and quaint streets.

Winchester is a charming city which needs you to fully explore. As well as the Cathedral and Great Hall, you should walk right to the end of the High Street as see what is down each street- particularly at the top of the town. There is a wide variety of cafes and restaurants. We had a Nepalese meal at Marse which was great with "ancient grains".
The Tourist Information Centre were fantastically helpful. Do walk the Water Meadows on the other side of the Cathedral and visit St Cross- following the river and in the spirit of John Keats. Finally, walk around the ruins of Wolvesey Castle.

Nice city, good shopping and eateries on the pedestrianised high street. The Cathedral, the Mill, Wolvesey Castle (ruins) and the Great Hall are all worth a visit. Relaxing walks along the river and through small roads, the architecture is beautiful and the city has a good atmosphere. The church of St Swithun is a little gem and the Peninsula Barracks with the Military and Gurkha Museums are interesting. We didn’t have the time to see the Hospital of the Cross nor the Dean Garnier Garden nor the College but we are leaving these for our next visit.

Had a business meeting and a social event in the middle of the city. This hotel provided everything in a perfect location. The one-way system was tricky to navigate and the street signs are poor, but that's not the Hotel's fault.
Very friendly staff. Excellent location near to the Cathedral, Christmas market and shopping areas. Parking at hotel was good so we could leave the car and walk into the centre. The room was comfortable but up a lot of stairs which might not suit the elderly or people with reduced mobility. The radiator wasn't working when we arrived so the room was freezing but someone arrived immediately after I called reception with a fan heater and got the radiator working very quickly which was great.
The cooked breakfast was delicious.
Very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Central location makes it ideal for exploring Winchester, only 10 minutes walk to the main high street for shops and restaurants. The Black Hole was good value for money compared to other chain hotels and they stored my bike in a secure location which was important for me. Also liked the way they had incorporated old prison doors in to the design of the rooms. I would highly recommend a stay here....
From the minute we arrived (during what looked like a busy restaurant service) we were made to feel extremely welcome. They had upgraded our room, which was extremely comfortable, immaculately clean and quiet. Superb facilities, everything you could need. The location is stunning just a 3.5 scenic walk into Winchester. The breakfast the next morning was brought to the room and was absolutely EPIC.
Location- a very short walk from the High Street and close to main attractions. Clean and comfy bed; clean room/bathroom, tea/coffee facilities, drinking water in the room. The capsule coffee maker was a great addition.
I have stayed in this hotel previously and definitely will stay again if I visit Winchester again.
And, definitely, good value for money considering location.
The hotel is convenient for main roads and Winchester town Centre is nearby. It has a large car park with plenty of spaces free.Reception and restaurant are bright and airy good air conditioning throughout.Food was tasty and plentiful.Staff friendly and relaxed.Bed was comfortable and room clean and tidy with tea and coffee tray/ hair drier ironing board ect.
Beautiful neighborhood with gorgeous greenery and landscaping. Gorgeous views, closes to multiple footpaths, convient location for access to nice pubs, sites and Winchester. The studio flat was modern and thoughtfully designed, and stocked with quality items for a comfortable stay.
The room itself was absolutely lovely, great bathroom, the service was great and breakfast the next morning was tasty but also in a lovely cosy setting. The hotel itself and courtyard was beautiful yet with character, wish we could have enjoyed that with better weather!
The location was perfect—a lovely, tranquil countryside location but easy driving distance to Winchester. My toddler loved walking the lanes of the farm to see the animals. The host sent friendly and informative information. The accommodation was comfortable and clean.
I liked the size of the room, the environmental controls, the bathroom facilities, and especially the location. I was able to walk to the places I needed to go. I will return to Winchester next year and plan to use the hotel again.
We stayed for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The posters on the stairs were great all the little quirks were perfect and the Breakfast was superb, the hotel was amazing. The location was fantastic. We loved it all.
Beautiful boutique hotel in an excellent location for just parking up and strolling Winchester.
The staff were so friendly, plus a great menu choice for breakfast with
Our Tattinger room was superb, thankyou.
The hotel is very close to the station and right in the centre of Winchester. As I was travelling by train it was an ideal location. I thought the room was stylish and well provided with tea and coffee facilities.
Location close to the zoo was ideal, plenty of parking, and the hotel design is very interesting. Staff were friendly, and the bedroom looked to be recently decorated including an updated ensuite.
Deluxe room - not cheap but good! Also included a P-space in the hotel-backyard. Charming old-pub-atmosphere, near Winchester Cathedral. Nice dinner and breakfast
