I was born and brought up in Troon so I am biased.
I was born and brought up in Troon so I am biased. Troon is a lovely seaside town full of lovely freindly people. The town has a decent selection of shops. I found the town very quiet compared to how it was when I grew up.

Lovely wee coastal town with good eateries for every pocket...
Lovely wee coastal town with good eateries for every pocket and nice wee independent shops to explore. Swimming pool, library, pretty town hall and two scenic beaches. Troon is within easy reach of other Ayrshire seasde towns like Prestwick and Ayr. Kilmarnock is also within reach and Glasgow is an easy drive up the M77. However there is a train station too and if you enjoy golf you'll be spoilt Parking in the town is free and plentiful.
Not a review of Troon per se but to holiday letters in general - these key boxes are murder on arthritic fingers - I have a splt fingernail with underlying blood blister to prove it. Ouch!
Also note to Booking.com - please don't put a union flag beside my name in the reviews!

The food was imaginative, delicious and the chef met every one of my companion’s food allergies!
The staff was very friendly and very professional. The room was lovely! There was no mold which was another allergy. Car park was on the property and the beach was across the street. It was exceptional!

My husband, Colin and I, love Troon.
My husband, Colin and I, love Troon. We live in Glasgow and it only takes about 40 minutes to get there, so we go as often as we can. There are excellent charity shops and a great travel agency (Stewart Travel) where we book all our holidays. We love the beach and the ice cream kiosk and on the first of every month there is an indoor car boot sale in the town hall. My husband loves the Pavillion chip shop and he also stays in Troon each winter for Winterstorm Rock Festival. I'm afraid I can't recommend the 3 Idiots Restaurant, as the food is overpriced and not very nice, and the service is dreadful. Avoid this place like the plague and you'll have a great time in Troon!

Quiet and understated.
Quiet and understated. There are a few ok places to eat but nothing spectacular. The surrounding area is perfect for quiet walks. Maybe there was more to Troon but as we were only there for 2 days it's difficult to say we know it well.
Excellent breakfast in magnificent room, great choice on menu, room was spacious with great vies through the windows. Hotel was in picturesque and quiet location on edge of town. Wonderful dinner in evening, with high quality food, and great choice. The hotel itself is a magnificent Victorian building of exceptional quality, status and opulence, in well kept and spacious grounds. Our bedroom was in a quiet cottage annex, offering a large and very comfortable bed with a separate sitting room and en-suite bathroom.
Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They were very accommodating, helping ensure we had a secure place to leave our bike overnight. The location was central and easy to find. I really like old hotels with character and this one had plenty! While the building is old, the bathroom was renovated. I really liked having a bathtub to relax in after cycling for the past 3 weeks. Breakfast was made to order, filling, and tasty. Quiet location and comfortable bed made for a good night’s sleep.
Beautiful property. They have struck the perfect balance between old world and modern with their decor. We stayed in the Mews and it was nicely appointed and very comfortable. Dinner was fantastic both nights we dined. My sister is gluten intolerant and has plenty of choices. The wait staff (especially Billy) were charming and efficient. Breakfast was just as impressive. Piersland House is a GREAT choice for any stay in the south west of Scotland.
Lovely apartment. Very conveniently placed. 2 minutes from the Lido and a chip shop.
Walking distance to the supermarket and beach.
We were there in November, so weather wasnt great but it was cosy and everything there to make it a comfortable stay.
5 minutes drive to the Marine Hotel and Piersland House.
Will definitely return
The rooms are to a high standard and good for a short break.
Location is quiet and only a short walk to the beech and amenities.
The daytime staff were friendly and helpful with things like local restaurants that were child and dog friendly.
There was a dog shower located outside our room.
Nice walks and views nearby.
My stay at this hotel was very relaxing and the staff very friendly, the food was excellent compliment to the chef, it was great to be able to have my meals in the dog friendly areas with Poppy who had a great time, beautiful walks around the hotel we will be back.
We had a great stay in Troon: the house was spacious (especially the enormous master bedroom), the location was great for a walk on the beach, communication was perfect. In short, we had everything we needed. We'll certainly be back when we are next in the area.
This is a great location for golf hungry people. There are so many options for the golfer in your group and there are varying prices to pay, from 30 pounds to 300 pounds. The town of Troon is quaint and like the rest of Scotland the architecture is beautiful.
Absolute perfect location for an early flight from Prestwick. Wish we had the opportunity to stay longer to explore the property and the area. The family suite was absolutely perfect (with the biggest bathroom I've ever seen) with incredible views.
Ideal location for us with a car, to then visit the rest of the south east shore line. Scotland pétanque we’re hosting the Home Nations Pétanque Tournament in Troon. A stones throw away from the beach. Property was clean and comfortable.
Clean, tasteful, well maintained, good facilities In room. Everything worked! Good TV. Lovely bathroom and shower. Staff very helpful and accommodating. The terrace area very dog friendly. Good storage.
