It could almost be thought of as the poor relation of the Cotswolds, but only compared to the more glamorous neighbours, Bourton on the Water and Broadway, but it is a very good centre for touring the area and has easy free parking, good shops and good restaurants.

A Beautiful Traditional English Town.
A Beautiful Traditional English Town. The building and architecture are full of history, the shops in the town are filled with art/antiques, plenty of restaurants, cafes, charity shops, local craft and gifts too, so there’s plenty to explore and do.

Moreton in Marsh was quintessentially English and very aesthetic. Full of pleasant eateries and antique shops. People were polite and said hello as you passed in the street. Extremely close to other places of interest and quaint villages that you could either wander around or make a brisk walk from.

Great little town in the Cotswolds with lots of intersting places to go to surrounding it. The town itself doesn't have a particularly busy high streeet but Stow on the Wold is only a few minutes drive away and has some lovely shops to mooch around. Lots of lovely walks in the area and some great hotels to be based in.

We visited the Batsford Arboretum for lunch.
We visited the Batsford Arboretum for lunch. It was raining, so we didn't walk through the Arboretum. There weren't as many shops as I was expecting for the size of the town, but it's not far to Stow-On-The-Wold

This was a great base for exploring the region.
This was a great base for exploring the region. Easy access to the train from London and then from there I could take different buses to explore, hire a guide or if I had a car I could have explored that way.

The property was fantastic: furnished nicely, extremely comfortable and with excellent facilities. The small touches, such as having a welcome basket and being left milk etc. in the fridge, were much appreciated! Check in and out were super easy and we found that the on-street parking bays opposite were almost always available (the only time it was busy was while the market was on). The location was also excellent, being just off the high street, with lovely views of the church.
Exceptional staff. Shout out to Ellie in the dining room in particular and the front desk staff. My room was in one of the separate buildings and had a private walled garden, which was totally unexpected. Visited by birds daily. Each room appears to be unique and well-appointed. This Cotswolds village is more quiet than some and not overrun with tourists. Likewise, the hotel felt peaceful and down-to-earth. They had provided fans due to the heat but it cooled off so didn't need.
Location was perfect--easy walk from the train station. Apartment was HUGE and decor was first class--probably furnished from their luxury home store below the apartment. Window looks out over Morton-in-Marsh main street, but noise was not an issue and it was fun to open the window and be part of the town activity. There was a large full kitchen with a complimentary basket of snacks and bottle of Prosecco. Much better than a hotel room and very affordable. We loved it!
A wonderful quintessentially old English hotel in a perfect setting close to all of Moreton in Marsh’s facilities and an easy drive to the local area.
Fabulous that it’s old charm has been kept alongside comfortable facilities. Fascinating history and lovely gardens with of course the 300 year old black mulberry tree (which was right outside our room window).
The breakfast was superb with very helpful, attentive staff.
We loved being here and were sad to leave.
Moreton Cottage is a little gem. Exceptionally clean and comfortable, a charming authentic cotswolds cottage located 50 yards from the town centre. Close enough to walk to local restaurants, but nice and quiet as not on the high street. The cottage is well equipped, couldn't think of anything that is not provided for. It's is a great location for exploring other villages in the Cotswolds, has a local train station and plenty of places to park.
Location is good for Moreton and other local towns within the Cotswolds, a short, less than 5 minute drive, or 20 minute walk to Moreton-in-Marsh. The rooms are fairly basic, (think Travelodge/older Premier Inns) but clean, comfortable and have everything you'd need for a few days away. excellent price for the location. There are quite a few facilities on site including a gym and pool, but we didn't use any of these, but may do next time.
Hotel right in the centre of Moreton-in-Marsh. Lovely large comfortable bed in a big room very nicely furnished. Nice touches such as sherry in room, together with bottled water and luxury toiletries. Parking available a rear. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had Sunday lunch which was excellent and plentiful as was breakfast the next day. Definitely return without hesitation
Entire cottage was well appointed and very comfortable. Beds were excellent. Kitchen is new and had everything one would want. So nice to have a basket of breakfast items, sweets and a bottle of Prosecco! Also milk in the fridge. Close proximity to the High street but set back and quiet. Beautiful garden area in the back.
Ask for a room on the garden, otherwise your on a road. It was ok though. The only problem was the carpet was so grubby. If the carpet is replaced I would rate this property higher. I booked it without reading reviews. It was fine and I generally liked the location.
The property was beautiful and historic, but also modernized in the right ways. The various areas to lounge and explore were lovely and the space felt spread out. We enjoyed drinks at the bar and both agreed the best meal of our trip was dinner at the Brasserie.
Very friendly staff, comfortable spacious and clean room. Great to have a restaurant on site, excellent breakfast with a good variety of choices, free easy parking, situated in an attractive village very close to Moreton in Marsh and a wonderful arboretum.
