No 42 by GuestHouse, Margate, hotel in Margate

Facing the beachfront, No 42 by GuestHouse, Margate offers 4-star accommodation in Margate and features a terrace, restaurant and bar.

You couldn’t get a better location in Margate for a hotel, when you walk in to reception it feels like you’re on the continent. From start to finish hotel staff were excellent, warm and friendly without being fussy. The room was beautiful, beach vibes and comfortable, there an effortless style, a real experience you don’t often find. There was a pantry with free snacks and pastries on the floor above which was a fun touch. We had a balcony overlooking the sea and it was a real joy to chill out there and enjoy the view and the beach life. The staff booked us a spot for sunset drinks on the roof bar which is well worth the visit for the epic view and delicious cocktails. We also ate at the hotel restaurant The Pearly Cow which has a balcony section if the weather is good. The food was very high quality and cooked to perfection, and the waiter was charming, down to earth and couldn’t help you enough. These guys really know what they’re doing. You get city service with small town charm here and as I said there’s a continental air. They’ve created a little world in this hotel and they seem to love what they do. I travel a fair bit and over the last few years, due to personal circumstances, we’ve had to holiday mostly in the UK and I have to say this is one of the best hotels I’ve had the pleasure of staying in. A real surprise and a total treat in an arty upcoming town. Don’t think, just book.

Haven't visited Margete in over 20 years and was pleasantly surprised. The beach was lovely and sandy, with an actual sauna on the beach and some activities for kids, was nice to watch the yachts sailing around the little harbour, plenty of amusement arcades Nice little market in the old town, mainly craft/clothing items. Plenty of good places to eat/drink. Pete's fish and chips was lovely. Also ate at The Sundowners (LGBT) bar (which has a terrace overlooking the sea) and food was lovely there too! Margate is bustling with life and great for a day out or longer if you fancy!!

Didn’t like Margate as much as Ramsgate not many pubs there, the only decent place is the mechanical elephant other places were expensive bars which were not my scene no karaoke venues like Ramsgate, just like Guildford the rodboro buildings in the centre and very few pubs in a big town which are all spread out of the town instead of being in the centre, it’s one of those towns with more tea places and diners and less pubs in the towns, can’t beat my number one town Reading in Friar street.

Lots to do and see but be aware everything shut on Mondays. I visited the Turner gallery, shell grotto, crab museum. I didn't have time to see the caves. Great sunsets. Loads of places to eat. I would highly recommend the Bull's Head for Sunday lunch. Best roasties ever! The Olimpia Bakery does coffee and amazing cakes.

I loved the fact that Seaview was in the old town of Margate, directly opposite Turner Contemporary and beautiful beach. Useful information folder, recommending everything from places to eat drink, visit etc. Loads of free street parking, regular buses to surrounding areas. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, be that in restaurants, shops or the bus drivers. A wonderful experience!

Margate was beautiful they have a vintage market for anyone who loves the vintage look. They have plenty of food bars and a food market we had a meal in a double decker bus it was amazing. The beach was beautiful clean and golden and I even managed to find seaglass to take home . There are main shopping centre but we didn’t get chance to go far .

It is what it is. Years ago this would have been a bustling classy hotel. It now has a worn-out, post-apocalyptic feel. As a hotel it merely survives. That is not the fault of the hotel at all. Its fate and seeming downward trajectory has been linked to that of Margate itself. I booked a room with bathroom, no more as nothing else is provided. But...the staff were real nice and it gives genuine value for money. I paid £40 and was treated very fairly. I have no complaints and would stay there again.

I booked a single room in the last moment due the train strike, I couldn't imagine the hotel was so impressive, Steve and Hannah are two awesome hosts. It was few hours but I felt like in my own house, the bed was magnificent, I didn't hear any noise at all apart from the seagulls in the morning and I was awarded the best bacon and egg roll I had in a long time, I would recommend this property above others I already stayed un Margate definitely I will be back next time I visit Margate

The hotel had character as it was old, possibly Edwardian and we like historical buildings. Our room was neat, clean and tidy and we had an en suite toilet and shower room. Reliable WiFi. The room was quite comfortable and there was a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. There was 24/7 reception service. The two owners (whom we met on the last day) were very friendly, welcoming and entertaining, which made us reconsider returning to stay here in the future.

Great location overlooking the beach. We had the apartment at the top of the building which was really spacious and tastefully decorated. Everything we needed was catered for - allowing us to relax indoors if the weather was bad or if we needed a pit stop. Andy was very helpful with advice and information and Joanne was there to meet us to answer any questions or queries. If you are planning a visit to Margate, my wife and I would highly recommend Neon Rooms.

I had a blissful 2-night stay at The Bay Guesthouse on a business trip. The guesthouse owners Steve & Hannah are lovely, extremely hospitable and made one feel at home. My room was gorgeous, with a great sea view, clean and the most comfortable & cosy bed. The place is very close to all of Margate's attractions and local amenities and the train station is only about a 15-minute walk away. I highly recommend this place and will be staying again.

The location of this property is excellent with fabulous views of the beach. The apartment was very clean and well equipped and had everything we needed. We were able to get the keys for one of the apartments from the lock box which was had the code to. The other code was obtained from the restaurant next door which was easy. We highly recommend and will stay again. Margate is a nice town and this apartment was in a great position.

We were in attendance for the yearly Margate Soul Festival, so booked relatively late, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this accommodation. The apartment was a little gem inside a fairly tired building, which was once a hotel, I believe. The flat had a cosy ‘boutique’ feel about it which I especially liked, but it felt like ‘home from home’. Comfortable bed, great shower, and all the amenities you could wish for! 😊
