The decor atmosphere and food were wonderful. We felt welcome with the dog too. It was excellent value and breakfast was delicious. Fresh coffee caffetiere in room and yum biscuits.

We knew there was no restaurant or bar on the premises due to flooding last year but the room was very well decorated and clean, spacious and well equipped. Shower room was very good too. Tom phoned me soon after booking to ensure we were fully aware of the restaurant closure which showed good service.
I inadvertently left a bag behind when checking out and I rang Tom a few hours later when we realised what had happened. Tom said he would check it out and rang me back soon afterwards to confirm the bag had been found and has offered to retain it until I next visit Suffolk in a few weeks time.
The Sail Loft is not in the centre of the village but it only takes 10-15 minutes to walk in, which we did both evenings we stayed. The location was very good for walks to Walberswick, around Southwold fens and along the coast

The hotel was in a great location in Southwold which is a lovely, unspoilt coastal Suffolk town. The staff were really friendly, chatty and helpful. Apart from the first evening where we enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast, we ate out to enjoy other pubs and restaurants in Southwold, but the breakfasts were excellent.

Dunwich is a tiny place but well known in Norfolk and Suffolk for walks and bird-watching as well as the history of the lost town, so don't go there for the night-life. However it is a great base to visit nearby Walberswick, Westleton, Southwold and a bit further Aldeburgh - either by car, bike or on foot depending on weather and mobility. Great area for dog walkers.
We stayed and ate in The Ship Inn, and for the second night we ate at The Crown in Westleton 2.5 miles away.
We were late in the season so the village museum was closed but there was other interpretation around, and ruins to visit. Unless you have a car or bike, you would need to be on a walking tour as it is a long way from anywhere by foot. There is a 6.5mile round walk to Southwold I believe

Pleasant room, tasteful decor and lighting, but overlooking a noisy courtyard. On balance we felt the room over priced.
Great location and restaurant food very tasty and well presented, although insufficient options for vegetarians and vegans.
Staff let the place down; they didn't know where we should store our bikes and also it was our wedding anniversary and we had asked for a specific table to be reserved. This was on the booking, but not followed through by staff on the night.

The beach is fantastic for walking in both directions.
The beach is fantastic for walking in both directions. There are circular walks for those who are fit. Beach never appears to have rubbish and dog friendly.
Dunwich a very small village with really just the Ship Inn and the museum. In the summers months there is a cafe on the beach.
Car parking at the beach is free so a real bonus.

Great walking and scenery.
Great walking and scenery. Got lost for a short while on the Sandlings forest walk but found my way back. There's really nothing to do but visit the pub, a small museum, a church and the beach but that was enough for me.
The hotel is ideally located for visits to local beauty spots (e.g. Dunwich Heath) and attractive towns (Southwold, Aldeburgh). The breakfast food was good (I particularly liked the muesli) and our evening meals were also well prepared and tasty, with plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and happy to please. The good-sized bathroom with bath was a definite plus.
Friendly greeting by both owner and staff.
Very accommodating overall and the facilities were excellent. Our energetic pooch was tolerated during our short stay. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel /Inn located in a beautiful part of Suffolk.
Great to be a short walk from Dunwich Beach. Busy at times but quieter than Southwold. Good location for exploring Sutton Hoo, Snape Maltings, Southwold & Aldeburgh. Staff very friendly and food quality excellent.
Very welcoming. busy and convivial. Great room, great food, good beer and wine selection.
Beautiful location in historic Dunwich, a short walk from the beach
The breakfast was very good.
As we had to be in Dunwich, the location was perfect.
Evening meals were good - but rather more expensive than I'd have liked.
The food for both dinner and breakfast was very good. The location was perfect next to the beach and teh overall hotel was wonderful especially the staff
