The feeling you get at Ranscombe house from the minute you arrive is that this is a warm and friendly place and that much attention to detail has gone into creating that.
We were met by host Pip who showed us around and made sure we knew we could contact him if there was anything we needed. Toffees in the hallway, two small but comfortable lounge areas downstairs, hot drinks in the bedroom, an honesty bar in the dining room and an invitation to make ourselves at home, were all appreciated.
We had a very clean room with the most comfortable bed and lovely bedding. Walking in to the room to a sea view at sunset was magical as was waking up to it in the morning.
…As was starting the day with a, beautifully cooked to order, large choice hot breakfast and accompanying choices of cereals etc..
We were also really impressed with how warm, thoughtful, kind and friendly the two members of staff we met at breakfast, Jo and Grant, were too. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Sensitive too to some of us not being very awake in the morning.
They both appeared as if they enjoyed their work and genuinely want you to relax and enjoy your stay.
The B&B is very well situated. An easy walk into town and the harbour, yet quiet enough to hear the birds in the morning. A huge bonus was the off road car park and as Pip warned us about parking under the bird tree, the car stayed clean and safe there.
Should we return to Brixham we would most definitely stay at Ranscombe House. Thank you.

The bungalow made you feel you where at home as you had everything there you would at home. The lady kindly left us scones, cream, jam and a pint of milk and what a lovely welcome. The double bed was so comfortable and the best mattress I've ever had while away on holiday. We loved sitting on the decking outside and you can see the sea . We did need a little help with the tele as we our not great with things like that but as they live local which is great they came round and showed us. They do leave booklets with details how to use items but we always struggle so it was great of them to come round and help us. I will definitely be staying here again.

We liked the town very much, although it was pirate festival so not seeing it under normal circumstances. We ate at Beamer's and The Berry Head Hotel, both excellent. There is a vibrant working harbour and the whole place is very walkable. The pirates were fun too!

Brixham is a working fishing harbour, so if you like eating...
Brixham is a working fishing harbour, so if you like eating fresh fish it is a no brainer. The centre is based around the harbour and there are some short flat walks round the harbour and along the breakwater. There are several good restaurants (not all fish), two or three nice pubs, a wine bar and a cocktail bar. There are some wonderful views if you walk up to Berry Head and the old fort. You can of course walk the coastal path north to Paignton and Torquay or south to Kingswear and Dartmouth. Or instead take the ferry or book a longer boat trip. There is also the steam train from Torquay to Dartmouth which you can intercept at Churston.

Great choice for places to eat.
Great choice for places to eat. The walks around the area are so scenic but hard going if you are not used to hiking. Lots of places where you can just sit in peace and quiet. Worth a walk up to Berry Head and the forts. Some nice nature walks as well. Also walk up to the Battery and the coves just further along the coast path.

Beautiful harbour area and stretch of the South Coast Walk.
Beautiful harbour area and stretch of the South Coast Walk. It's a lovely town that does not have the winter shut down feel of some other coastal towns in the UK, probably because it is also a working port town so never really completely switches off.
We ate in La Petit Maison and Rock Fish; both fabulous restaurants that I can highly recommend and drinks/cocktails in Liberties on the Harbour front; also very much recommended.

We liked the ease of access to all aspects of the town.
We liked the ease of access to all aspects of the town. The walk round the harbour to Shoalstone Pool and on to Berry Head is lovely. Lots to see. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Brixham to suit all tastes and budgets.
Welcoming and beautifully clean (I’m a housekeeper and I notice- I’m a nightmare to take to a hotel 🤣) Great quality bed linen, comfy bed, quiet at night and a restful night’s sleep.
Pip was great- he even let me look at his roller press!
Lots of great little details like the auto lights on the stairs when we returned from a birthday party at night.
Lovely cooked breakfast cheerfully served- tons of choice.
wholeheartedly recommend.
Carpark and an easy walk to the harbour and a nice mooch around Brixham.
The property is perfect for a couple to enjoy all that Brixham and Devon have to offer. Sea La Vie is a cosy apartment and is only a short walk from the harbour. There is plenty to do and see in Brixham and further afield and we were provided with a helpful guide to the local area. The host was very attentive and responded quickly to any queries.
If you are staying in Brixham then what better than this. The location is perfect, plenty to see. The fly bridge is great place to have a morning coffee. There are other boats available to stay on in Devon, but I think this may be the best. Breakfast cafe a couple of mins walk.
We had a room with a side view which was a good size and lovely and clean and tidy. This hotel is in a fabulous location with stunning views. It’s a nice leisurely walk into Brixham and onto the headland. We’d stayed many times at this hotel and will return again
The property was clean and tidy on arrival. It had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Found the kitchen with all the essentials we needed. Same with bedding and towels. Short walk to the harbour which is ideal with 2 small children.
Great breakfast, excellent evening meal in the bar, fantastic views with only a short walk to the harbour. Secure parking close by. A special mention to Earl for being so helpful and humorous, he is a real asset to the Quayside Hotel
Nice welcome, very cozy, breakfast food and beverage available. Sound advice on where to park the car. Good live music in the bar Saturday night. Location handy for Brixham harbour and beach.
Great guest house, we had a lovely room overlooking the harbour. It was spacious, spotless & comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, if we returned to Brixham this is where we’d stay
Fantastic location, just a few minutes walk to town and harbour. Amazing views. Clean, spacious and very comfortable. On site parking which is much sought after in Brixham
Made very welcome, all staff extremely friendly and polite. On future visits to Brixham we know that The Station Hotel will be the first port of call to book our stay.
Located just in front of the harbour, parking is available, kitchen is fully equipped, plenty of space for 4/5 person. Everything looks new! Shower is nice and hot!
Good location nice size room good breakfast staff were friendly and helpful
There is limited free street parking behind b&b but it’s 800 meters up a steep hill
The room was large, the bed was comfortable, breakfast was excellent, parking convenient, room was quiet, good water pressure and temperature in the bathroom.
The accommodation was superb, with possibly the best balcony view in Brixham, fantastic location for the town and harbour, the welcome pack was spot on.,
