My stay at the George was great. The room was so comfortable, and it was handy being able to have dinner in the pub downstairs. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Very welcoming, great food. I asked the young lady on reception if there was any way I could print off some paperwork for work as I'd left mine back home in Newcastle upon tyne and she was very helpful and printed my paperwork for me.
Nice middle England type village. Very pleasant with generally friendly people. Dogs welcome almost everywhere!
Great Fish n Chip shop & restaurant (Squires) and several bars and pubs - the George is large & welcoming with a good choice of food.
There's a small Co-op supermarket and various butchers and bakeries. Only one coffee shop, which isn't enough for the number of visitors!
There's a gift shop, one or two cloths shops and a charity shop along with a large ironmongers/garden centre absolutely full of useful items such as camping and BBQ stuff.
The main roads in and out get very busy. There's a reasonably priced car park and medical centre, along with a useful tourist info centre.
Probably the best thing about Braunton is it's very close to the wonderful quaint village of Croyde and the surfer's paradise beach at Croyde Bay!

The SSH is nearer to Croyde and about three miles from Braunton itself which is inland, but the town itself is very pleasant (twinned with Plouescat in Brittany in France) and has some nice shops and two good restaurants. The 21C bus runs once an hour from Barnstaple to Saunton, Croyde and Georgeham via Braunton.

I went there to visit family not for a holiday.
I went there to visit family not for a holiday. It would not be a holiday choice for me insufficient cultural stimulation. It feels like gods waiting room.It has good beaches and attracts surfers. The beach facilities are fairly basic despite being overlooked by a expensive hotel.

V. Good for the overnight stop or for a weekend/long weekend for a couple staying mostly in hotel and nearby beaches. Good for family beach holiday. Not the place if you want nightlife and sophistication.

It is a good centre for further exploration.
It is a good centre for further exploration. Busy main road and cross roads. Good food outlets for all tastes. Good shops if you want to surf or take part in other seaside activities. Parking Ok, but busy in main season.
Attending event at the Museum of British Surfing in Braunton - just few mins walk from Brookfield . Clean, comfortable, Large bathroom - & everything we needed - delicious breakfast & super friendly hosts . Best bonus was to find there is surf heritage connection - original owners here were pioneers of surfing on wood boards in the late 1920s - also related to British PM Gladstone . You can see photos at Brookfield & also the museum.
Wonderfully clean and equipped house for the family to get together (dogs included). Rooms are all lovely in decor and comfortable. Rooftops is in a great location, views to Appledore and walking distance to the shops. We mainly drove to Braunton Burrows & Saunton Sands for the dog walks as the beach is dog friendly all year round. Great location for sightseeing south or north of Braunton.
Granny annex rather than room in a B&B, so space to hang wet motorcycle kit in front of radiators rather than impose on the hosts for drying space. Spacious and comfortable. Squires fish and chips in the middle of Braunton definitely worth the walk into town (c.35 minutes) on my second evening.
Absolutely 11/10 stay, evening meal, accommodation and breakfast, value for money totally and lovely owner, Devon is just wonderful and Braunton puts you right in a place where you can visit many other beautiful places with just a short drive. Totally recommend The George :o)
The location is excellent with a short walk into Braunton. A nearby cafe for breakfast and a beach at Crow Point. The accommodation is good and for any queries the hosts are easily contactable and very helpful. Perfect for the solo traveller.
It’s a self catering version of a boutique hotel and yet a little home from home.
There are surprises in every corner from the drawer full of games to some of the best local information Ive ever seen.
I loved it and hope to stay again
the spectacular location looking southerly over one of the best sandy beaches in north Devon, the comfort of the bedrooms, the quality of the food and service, the availability of car parking and the friendly efficiency of the staff.
The owner (when we met him - assuming that he was the owner) was helpful and friendly. The décor in the hotel part of the pub was very good, and our room and bathroom were well decorated and equipped. Breakfast was very good.
It was spacious, well equipped, beautiful views & the location was totally perfect : walking into Braunton for shopping and very close to Ashbarton Estate, where we were attending a wedding. All ideal!
Comfortable hotel in spectacular position overlooking one of North Devon's best beaches. High standard of food and
accommodation, lovely views, spacious restaurant and bar area and helpful staff.
Friendly helpful staff, central location but with convenient free parking across the road in an area noted for difficult or expensive parking, room and hotel were clean and recently decorated
very nice location with great views, good for visiting local beaches etc.
Granary had a good path to town. Braunton good.
Westward ho! and Saunton sands fantastic beaches.
always enough staff. They all were so obliging. every detail was taken care off. Staff appeared proud to be employed at the hotel. Single interior room was excellent
Stunning hotel right next to the beach. Very nice restaurant with lots of options. Spa and pool clean and well equipped. Hope to be able to stay here again soon
