Christine and Patrick were excellent, warm and welcoming hosts. The surroundings, house and rooms were lovely and the home cooked food was a welcome relief to motorway stops. I was even given help with my tyres! I was made to feel and at home and I would recommend this to anyone whether travelling alone or with family.

A pleasent suprise.
Beautifull place, nice family staff
A stunning, medieval village with a real sense of community.
A stunning, medieval village with a real sense of community.
The village shop was well stocked with provisions and we particularly enjoyed the little tubs of delicious organic fruit sorbets they sold, all produced locally. Very refreshing on hot days.
Despite its size, there is a choice of dining options, all of which enjoy a good reputation. We loved the dinners at l'Ancienne Auberge, where Greg, the chef, takes enormous pride in the quality and provenance of his ingredients. Here's a man - with the passion and flair for cooking - who consistently turns out delicious and imaginative dishes.
We were lucky to attend a free outdoor concert by a group of young and telented operal singers, who performed in the square in front of the church. There are several artists and sculptors in the village and we enjoyed an exhibition by one of their number.
This is a place that might appeal to walkers. There are numerous trails in the forest of Gresigne, some of which begin in Puycelsi. During hot weather, they provided ample shade!
It's worth noting that guests who stay in the village can get a parking permit to park at a short distance from all the accommodation. Our hosts at l'Ancienne Auberge provided that for us for the duration. Otherwise, traffic is mainly confined to the edge of the village, which makes Puycelsi a peaceful, almost traffic-free place.

The old hilltop town is stunning and well worth the very steep drive and the views are amazing. We had a lovely three course meal at the Jardin de Lys. I would recommend booking as it is not a large restaurant. We had drinks in Roc Cafe, very friendly and typically French. The church is worth a visit and the ceiling is breathtaking. A walk around the ramparts is interesting and easy walking with stunning views. If visiting in high season parking is very limited but a large car park at the bottom of the hill is provided with facilities.

Puycelsi is a delightful and charming village on its own, with many others (Bruniquel, Penne, St-Antonin Noble Val, Cordes-sur-Ciel, St-Cirq La Popie) within striking distance. The cliffs of the nearby Gorges de L'Aveyron are spectacular - don't miss the Route des Corniches. Puycelsi has two restaurants (Le Jardin des Lys and Au Cabanon) with highly sophisticated menus, world-class cuisine (including excellent vegetarian fare) and friendly husband-and-wife teams; a third (the Puycelsi Roc Café) is handy for more traditional meals. All three have beautiful views of the surrounding forest and pastureland. The Ancienne Auberge makes a fabulous home base.
L'Auberge is in the MOST delightful hilltop village - Puycelci. Perfect tranquility, an excellent bistro in the centre, lovely walks and breathtaking views. L'Auberge itself is a beautifully decorated historic building. Our flight was delayed and instead of arriving at 6 pm, we pitched up past 11 pm. The proprietors, Gregg and Sophie, were so very gracious about the bother - stayed up to greet us, provided glasses of wine to enjoy on the terrace, carried our bags. They could not have been more kind. Thank you Gregg and Sophie!
Historic, clean, beautifully decorated, unbelievable views! The Hosts, Greg & Sofi, were so welcoming and genuine … you could feel their warmth & honest joy in what they do! Incredible homemade meals by Greg & delicious deserts by Sofi!
The whole town of Puycelci is a step back into medieval Europe without all the cheap junk shops - beautiful, peaceful & fantastic views all around.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of this lovely village.
Room was big with a great little terrace which caught the afternoon sun. No view but that didn't matter. Greg was so lovely and helpful and the evening meal was great, as was breakfast, and very reasonable. The visiting cat was an added bonus.
The village is a beautiful medieval village which is quiet and peaceful. The hotel is a lovely old building overlooking the church. For dinner we preferred to, and very happy we did, go along with culinary suggestions prepared and served by enthusiastic Greg. For us a perfect place to unwind.
Puycelci is a wonderful place and this hotel is right in the centre. The room was very nice with a clean bathroom and shower and a comfortable bed. We also had a view over the square to the church. The evening meal was excellent cooked by the owner with great attention to detail.
We stayed for 2 nights and visited the neighboring towns (Bastides) .
Beautifully decorated rooms, friendly owners. They speak
good English, but knowing a bit of French certainly won't hurt :-)
Greg is a great chef, we highly recommend having a dinner at the hotel.
Location is great, hotel has its charm. Very friendly! We asked for a semi-pension, which also included breakfast and dinner, which were good. Room was large with large windows. I warmly recommend this hotel at any time except during summer heatwave.
What a lovely hotel. Beautiful room, fantastic views, a sweet little village , excellent home cooked food - and all produced and looked after by Greg whose friendly and helpful attitude made it one of the best stops on our trip round France.
Sophie and Greg are absolutely lovely hosts. we highly recommend the Demi-pension - the dinner was superb! The room was extremely clean and also very comfortable. We slept well there. The auberge is located in the nicest part of Puycelci.
