Fly into Münster Osnabrück International Airport, 25km from Münster city centre, or Düsseldorf Airport, 120km away. Alternatively, take a direct train from major German cities. For domestic travellers, driving is an option; Münster is about 300km from Berlin. No direct water transport available.
The most convenient airport for Münster, Germany is Münster Osnabrück International Airport (FMO). It's ideal due to its proximity, approximately 25km away, and offers both domestic and international flights.
Münster, Germany offers diverse public transport options. The city's bus network, operated by Stadtwerke Münster, is extensive and reliable. Alternatively, Münster is known as the bicycle capital of Germany, with numerous bike rental services. Taxis are also readily available. For longer distances, Münster Hauptbahnhof provides regional and intercity train services.
Germany's Bicycle Capital
Residents of Münster have pride in their city having completely rebuilt its medieval centre after the devastation caused during World War II. This resourcefulness is reinforced by its large student population attending the University of Münster and the many bicycle tracks that make it the bike capital of Germany.
Start your tour at St.Paul’s Cathedral in Domplatz that features an astronomical clock dating back to 1540. Not far away is the Prinzipalmarkt with its 14th-century town hall. St. Lambert’s Church suspends 3 cages from its tower which were used to display the bodies of leaders from the Münster Rebellion.
A favourite pastime for locals is to sit on the banks of Aasee lake or you can hire a bike and explore the countryside of the Westphalia region. The university is set in the botanical garden and includes the Baroque-style Schloss (palace) as its administration centre.

Munster is a wonderful city, suitable for both a short visit and an extended stay. It's not a very large city, which maintains a cozy atmosphere without being overwhelmed by skyscrapers or tourist crowds. There's definitely a lot to see in terms of attractions, delicious restaurants, and excellent shopping.

A very cute, small and pretty city.
A very cute, small and pretty city. Not too terribly much to see due to it being rather small but it was a nice change of scenery nevertheless. The public transportation functions well and you can easily get to places; for sightseeing purposes you don't need that, though, because all of the pretty and interesting places are central and can be reached on foot.
I didn't frequent any restaurants due to being on a budget but there are plenty of those; however if you're looking to spend less money I highly recommend checking out the Too Good To Go options in the area.
Overall a great destination for a two to three day trip.

We were looking for lively christmas-markets like we haved used to see in Cologne. Unfortunately: Munster was nothing like that.
There were six christmas-markets but they did not resemble Cologne in any way. On top of that everything was closed at 8 pm, and then the city became quiet and dark.
Munster is small. It has a beautiful old town. When you spend an afternoon over there that is sufficient I would say.

Munster won an award for having the best quality of life in...
Munster won an award for having the best quality of life in the world, Münster is home to buildings that can tell legendary tales of the past and is were the Treaty of Westphalia was signed ending the 30 years war. The city centre is pedestrianised with Prinzipalmarkt being the central point. Nearby is the DOM with its astronomical clock. The city is surrounded by the old remains of the old roman wall which you can walk or cycle round. In the middle of the city is the Aasee, a huge lake where you can take a boat trip round or hire a pedalo. No matter where you go there are parks and wooded areas. There are also some amazing pubs/restaurants called gasthouses such as Pinkus Muller, Sthulmacher, Kiepenkerl (Grosse and Kleiner) Gasthaus Leve the oldest in Munster.

Wonderfully romantic and picturesque town with upscale restaurants, boutiques and lots of walking paths through historical areas with wonderful churches and buildings. Truly friendly people, a college-town academic (rather than party) atmosphere--don't miss for a romantic weekend or getaway. . . you'll be taken back in time and enjoy every minute!

This is a beautiful city, lots of history, and was rebuilt...
This is a beautiful city, lots of history, and was rebuilt after WWII with the downtown rebuilt in the same style and appearance as the old city had been, You MUST see the market on Wednesdays or Saturdays on the Domplatz as it is one of the best in Germany. See the museums and read about the three protestants who were killed and bodies displayed in iron cages for centuries hanging from a church bell tower.
This was a Catholic area. This was a Nazi area. This is now home to a large University of Münster. Great food.
Really great location right in the building of the Munster Train Station - it wasnt noisy at all in the room by the way - we were always on the go, going to different cities via train, so it was really a relief to come down from a train at 12am, 4 am, 6am and with walking 2 minutes you're back at your hotel. Also it is close - 10 minutes walk to old city where there are a lot of good cafes and restaurants, but when feeling lazy we just went into the Munster Train Station and grabbed KFC, there was a good Asian food spot too.
The Hotel Münster Kongresscenter is close to the centre and provides a secure car park at a relatively good price. Some pre-arrival basic explanation as to the location of the car park entrance and arrangements around "die Ausfahrtkarte" would have been really useful for "first time" guests of the hotel.
The bed was comfortable and the coffee provided in the room was good, but we had to ask for replenishments.
Fantastic bedroom, our dog was welcome, the food was delicious and the outside terrace was really inviting. We intended to go out our second night for dinner but stayed at the hotel because it was so good.
We loved our 2 night stay and the city is interesting and the lake a really interesting addition.
It offered massage, parking, and welcome - all things we appreciated in our journey
The Room was clean, the Wifi was good, the Breakfast was super, The Staff was very freindly and helpful. The location is lively bit far from the centre of Munster But very well connected and numerous buses are plying throughout the day. Even whole night every 30 minutes there was a bus from Munster centre. Would love to come again.
Nicely located in a rural position, the hotel and staff were genuinely lovely.
Clean and spacious room, great restaurant and food, topped off with good German Pilsner beers.
After a long ride on motorbikes, this hotel was like arriving at a beautiful oasis.
We'd thoroughly recommend. ☺
The location is perfect! it’s very easy to get from the main station and also city center. it’s like a hotel not a hostel I would say. so clean! the staffs are also friendly and approachable. If you want to have a short stay in Münster, I highly recommend this place.
The location of the hotel is really super, near the main train station and the old city where one can really enjoy his time.
Rather than that I’ll never select this hotel for this price.
Tip: Get your water alone do not depend on the hotel ;)
It was wonderful, The hotel staff was more than wonderful. They were loving and smiling. The breakfast was wonderful and varied. The location is close to everything. The hotel is excellent and I highly recommend it. Thank you for everything
A very quiet, clean hotel, with most friendly staff. A lovely spacious dining area. we had our Labrador dog with us which was no problem . Due to the fact that we often travel to Münster we will most definitely stay here again.
The hotel is situated at a good location. I read some reviews about mold; our room didn't have any. It was clean.
The staff is easy going. There is free WiFi and the hotel has several restaurants inside.
The location is excellent -- very close to the city centre and to the railway station. The rooms were much better than I excepted from a budget hotel, and the overall facilities were great.
Location from the train station is great. The room was clean, good size and the welcome drink is a nice touch. The sauna was nice to use after a day of walking around the old city.
Extremely functional space for a short stay near the university at Münster. The kitchenette and desk area were very useful even though the space is small.
