Views are incredible, breakfasts were wonderful. It's probably rustic compared to most places in the states, so make sure the expectations match the region. Ellie and Manuela were wonderful, great sources of local info and just wonderful people overall. The hosts are a major highlight of this hotel

This place is just PERFECT! A quiet oasis in rainforest! It is our favorite accommodation after 3,5 weeks in Costa Rica. Doug is super friendly, such a great host. A warm welcome. The property is so beautiful. You can see that they have an eye for details. All the trees, flowers, birds… just lovely. Our villa had beautiful views, we even saw a sloth! The villa is well equipped, clean and super comfortable. The complimentary Costa Rica coffee is a nice bonus. It’s the perfect place to explore the region, but also to chill, for example at the beautiful pool. Thank you so much!!

The property was beautiful. A small, intimate property where we got to watch monkeys in the palm trees and the ocean from our bed. It was wonderful. The food was great - the restaurant served a great selection and breakfast was perfect. Eddie was a star on reception and in the restaurant. It couldn’t have been better.

Ojochal is a great base location to explore the Uvita area beaches and the Sierpe mangroves to the south. Lots of area waterfalls, beaches, attractions, and restaurants. True Costa Rican rainforest and animals along with world class beaches and waterfalls make it the best of everything Costa Rica offers.

Go and watch the fish being unloaded at the “Fish Shop” sign just below Paraiso Azul - birds up close and a range of fish.
It’s only a 40 min drive, on a good road, to Sierpe for a 3 hour river trip - loads of wildlife. Completely recommended

This town is one of the most peaceful and beautiful that we’ve visited in Costa Rica. It also has great restaurants and really nice people. Nice for a couple with no children for a little R&R and great food.
Best food in CR. Sud is great if you want great food and live music or dance lessons (not sure which nights). Other restaurants we loved included Heliconia, Fusion, Kua Kua for the stunning view, Terraba and Mamma e Papa.
Go to Playa Tortuga for a long walk or mellow beach visit and to see the scarlet macaws. Visit Playa Ventanas - more families, people playing, vendors, music. Far more lively than Tortuga.

We had a very nice family stay with trips to the beaches nearby and the kids enjoying the pool with gorgeous sea view in the afternoons. Precious garden, quiet surroundings except for few extra loud trucks, cosy rooms and a very well equipped kitchen. I loved the open air shower and the daily visits from a funny shy duck!!
The supermarket at walking distance is much bigger than it seems.
This was the sweetest place we stayed in Costa Rica. Claire is a great born-to-be host! Outgoing, helpful and fun to spend time with. Claire priovided a list of close-by restaurants, which alas we did not have time to experience. She provided fabulous breakfasts; her finely landscaped property was abundant with flowers, fruits birds, and monkeys. The cabins were adorable with a comfortable bed, well-appointed kitchen and hot shower. Definitely would return to Hotel El Mono Feliz!
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. After 3 nights in a basic cabin in Osa, this was almost luxury. The cabin was well-equipped, very comfortable, cool (without using the AC), and at canopy level with great views of the surrounding trees. We were on the edge of Ojochal, very quiet, and the garden was really a rainforest experience. The pool was particularly pleasant and attractive, surrounded by garden, and we spent a fair amount of time there (which we normally don't do).
Fantastic place, wonderful hosts who are very kind🥰 The garden is breathtaking and the pool is perfect for relaxing, the apartment is very spacious and well equipped, nothing was missing. There are shops within a few minutes drive and we have received great recommendations for restaurants from our host. You can also watch a wonderful sunset for a few minutes ♥️ We went to Uvita from here, we loved to come home here, the sound of nature is wonderful.
All in the hotel was amazing, everything so clean and the food was delicious. The beds are very comfortable and the sounds of the nature helps you sleep like a baby. The hosts were very friendly and they worried about giving the best stay. I hope I could come back. The distance from the center is longer compare with other hotels but the quality make it worth it. The best hotel in the area.
The cabin is one of two cabins on the property. The cabins are surrounded by lush vegetation giving the feeling of being in the jungle even though grocery stores and restaurants are nearby. The pool and gazebo was a great place for hanging out after a day of exploring the nearby national parks. The cabin had a fully equipped kitchen. The owners were friendly and accommodating.
Extraordinary little hotel with one of the best ocean views a hotel can offer, including mind-blowing sunsets. Staff was lovely and very attentive. Breakfast and dinner were amazing. One of the best hotels we stayed in Costa Rica, very recommended for relaxing. Another (temporary) plus is the possibility to have an in-house corona test so you don't have to worry at the airport.
The location was atop a mountain with wonderful views of the lush hills and the Pacific. The facilities were modern and in excellent condition and better than most US hotels. The hosts Dave and Magda were warm and welcoming, as well as being founts of knowledge about the area. The daily breakfast was also excellent and the nearby restaurants are some of the best in Costa Rica.
Everything a boutique hotel should be! We adored El Castillo and it’s staff. From first arrival, Rebecca and staff made sure we were all taken care of. Our corner suite was exceptionally welcoming and beautiful with a live iguana temporarily lounging on the balcony. Beautiful ocean views and a fabulous infinity pool. A real find!
Everything was perfect, Kerry and John are amazing and very helpful. They recommended us a delicious restaurant with a spectacular view over the ocean and also help us to figure out where we can take our Covid Tests for traveling back home.
one of the best hotels in 3 weeks of traveling trough Costa Rica. Wish we stayed longer
The villa was a wonderful way to introduce friends to Costa Rica. Very clean and well stocked with needed items. The view is awesome. So close to Exotica Restaurant and the Uvita beaches. Isabell and her son were kind and helpful and communicated by Whatsapp as needed.
The small private pool was lovely and clean.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, the manager really puts in effort and enthusiasm!
Nice pool area
Proximity of an excellent restaurant (Citrus), as well as a shop and bar
Good location for exploring the region (Uvita) and heading to Sierpe/Corcovado
The owner is an amazing person, very kind and welcoming. The hotel is like paradise, you can see wildlife from your window: birds, monkeys. Attractions, restaurants are also nearby by car.
The bed is very comfortable.
Great spot for seeing birds and monkeys!
The breakfast was delicious. The manager Lisa was friendly and gave us terrific recommendations for things to do. The towels were excellent quality. Nice to have a refrigerator.
Everything on my stay was top notch. Really enjoyed staying there with my wife and kids. The service was excellent. The place was beautiful. The beaches nearby are great. Will be back soon.
rooms were nice and spacious and loved the little outdoor seating area.
