Aircon - it was very hot. Wildlife - iguanas, birds and basilisks came to visit. Proximity to the beach (the north beach is much the better of the two). Restaurants and supermarkets nearby.

The setting of the property is absolutely gorgeous in the beautiful jungle, with many opportunities to see wildlife right there. Erickson and his family go above and beyond with making the stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I was taken on an afternoon walk on my first afternoon to get to know the birds and wildlife. I went without a car and Erickson constantly helped me with taxi transfers, which they run from a separate family business. Maria, the mother, cooked delicious meals from scratch every evening (for the full duration of my 5 night stay) and it was the best meals I had in CR. All my tours were also arranged for me, which were all fantastic. Cannot recommend this place enough!

We loved everything. From the moment we were picked up by Steven, and driven to this beautiful hideaway, we didn't stop smiling.
We came to Greenleaf at the end of a 2 1/2 week adventure around the North and west of Costa Rica, and we'd already been in Drake Bay for a few days first, but wanted to finish our trip with a bit of luxury and relaxation with amazing views, and this exactly is what Greenleaf provided.
Helen, and Steven, welcomed us with open arms into their wonderful setting. We were treated to delicious juices, fresh fruits, amazing food (which catered brilliantly for my vegan ways), bird watching, coaty spotting and introductions to the whole monkey family who live in the jungle behind the bungalows. Helen was so helpful before we even arrived, booking our snorkeling trip for us, as well as arranging our flight back to San Jose from Drake Bay. Steven was so kind, offering to drive us any where we needed, getting us to and from the snorkeling pick up, as well as dropping us off at the airport. They both make such a dream team, you can really understand why people come back year after year.
At the end of a wonderful trip we couldn't have chosen a better place to soak up all our adventures and add this magical experience as a wonderful cherry on top.
If you are thinking of going to Drake bay, make sure you stay here, or at least get in touch with them for all their amazing local knowledge and passion.
Thank you for making us feel part of the family.

Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national park. Not only Corcovado is worthwhile but Drake Bay itself as well. I would recommend taking the boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay as it’s very convenient and the boat ride is extremely scenic!

Very nice peaceful place, at the grounds of a friendly costarican family, right on the edge of the rainforest. Beautiful Ganadito beach is at walking distance. The cabin where we slept was new and fine.

The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you must visit them with a guide for the appropriate access and to really appreciate what is there. Drake is a the ideal place from which to reach the parks. We travelled to Drake Bay by intercity bus from San Jose and connected with the ferry. The "wet landing" was a first for us - a genuine adventure where the ferry assistants wade your luggage to shore on their shoulders and the passengers just focus on getting themselves to shore. The ferry takes an hour or so through amazing mangroves. Make sure to tell your hotel to book you on the ferry to avoid misunderstanding -- there are only two ferries per day and you don't want to lose a day/night in Sierpe.
The park is amazing --book a tour well in advance as daily entries are limited. Access to the park is by boat. Birds galore, several species of monkey including the mighty howler, tapirs, two species of ant eater, and many more creatures. We did the snorkeling tour too which was also amazing. We saw deep sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and a plethora of species of fish. Beautiful, pristine and rules about not interrupting wildlife. For example, we were watching a turtle and she started to rise for air and we all had to move back 4-6 metres and we had the joy of then watching her float on the surface for a while and just rock in the waves. Being herself and breathing without feeling anxious

The town, while not a secret by any means, has still avoided the trappings of rampant tourisim. There is a local vibe that is genuine and refreshing.. I like that the town is still a bit rough on the edges.
The abundance of world class outdoor experiences is the icing on the cake.

It is a very peaceful place, we definitely recommend it.
It is a very peaceful place, we definitely recommend it. Beautiful walking trail to san josecito, magnificent view, good restaurants (kalaluna & coco cafe), a lot of activities. You have access to the Corcovado NP, waters are calmer than most beaches in costa rica (good for swimming). Snorkeling tour to cano was great!

It is a very remote, relaxed place.
It is a very remote, relaxed place. Great to experience the simple life. There is a beautiful hiking trail along the coast line to more secluded beaches. Many activities to be done from the beach, including day trips to Corcovado national park, night tours, snorkelling trips.
The beach itself is not amazingly beautiful- it’s not pristine white sand and clear waters- it has a very rustic feeling and there are no beach bars. But there are places to eat just up from the beach or grab a drink from the supermarket. We saw a lot of wildlife! Scarlet macaws are flying around. There’s a nice restaurant called Lookout restaurant with good food and a great view over the bay.
The location is superb - surrounded by forest, away from the bustle of Drakes Bay, backing on to its own safe beach. The staff are charming and very helpful, and did everything possible to help us eg by booking tours, making sure we got on the right boat each day, and arranging meals to suit our tour schedule. The food in the restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Our room ( a bungalow), like all the others, had a lovely view through the trees to the sea. In the hotel grounds we say sloth, macaws and a semi resident toucan.
four of us went in a trip together and loved our stay. excellent value for money. we were picked up at the beach and driven to the property upon arrival. we had excellent breakfast every morning with a varied breakfast each day (we stayed 3 days). The staff were wonderful. the location is close to great restaurants and maybe a five minute walk to the beach. We saw monkeys and a number of Toucans at our location. would recommend and will stay here again next time I’m in Drake Bay. great value for money.
We were coming to Drake bay by boat and we were worried before booking how from the boat we will get to our room, how far it will be.., but experience was a piece of cake.
A kind guy(probably owner) came with his ATV, took our bags, and we had to walk a few hundred meters, and that's it.
Also, when booking a room with him, he can help you to book tours in corcovado, like diving, snorkeling or hike tours
The cabana itself is beautiful; it was very clean, has a full kitchen that is well-stocked with dishes and utensils to do your own cooking, has a wonderful view and porch, and feels pretty solitary despite being surrounded by other hotels and cabanas. Emanuel was a great host, he was very friendly and helpful. It is very conveniently located to the beach, where many of the different tours take off from.
We had a wonderful stay at Vista Drake. Our rooms overlooked the jungle and much wildlife. It was a short walk to the various restaurants. Emil spent time setting us up and explaining much about the area. Our room included a huge balcony, kitchen, and laundry area. The craftsmanship of the rooms and materials used is awesome. We stayed three nights. Highly recommend Vista Drake!
The location in Drake is really good, as its on a steep hill and Casa Jade is not far from the beach. There are also lots of nice cafés and restaurants around. The room is good, with a large comfortable bed and a bunkbed. The room has airco and a fridge and coffee/tea maker, and a nice little patio with view of Drake to drink a beer in the afternoon!
The view from the porch was lovely. The air conditioning worked. Drake Bay has good access to Isla Cano Marine Reserve and the Corcovado National Park, which are both worth a visit if you are into those things. The staff was extremely helpful with luggage, arranging tours, and responsive to requests, but the hotel lacks amenities.
Amazing place, remote and you sleep almost in the jungle. Very quiet and relaxing place, made possible by Willy and his family who take care of every need. Because it is further away from drake bay I ate all my meals in the hotel, which is also a restaurant. It was the best food and coffee I had in costa rica
The property is at the best location of Bahia Drake, finally a real beach house. The kitchen, toilet, shower etc.. are simple but they blend in the jungle giving a pure sense of freedom and wilderness, sound of the waves and beach sight accompanying you through all your stay.
Everything! If you enjoy the nature, wildlife, walking and exploring then you'll love this hotel! The food was great and the staff was so incredibly helpful especially when it came to booking tours. There was always someone who spoke English but a little Spanish helps!
Jose was so helpful and welcoming! He helped us arrange great activities and meals in Drake Bay and made everything so easy. We loved the view from our room and the air conditioning was so refreshing to come back to when out for a hot day in Drake Bay.
The beautiful setting of the hotel, it looks over a small river surrounded with trees and birds. A/C was excellent, staff was lovely and helpful. Food was tasty, the hotel added to my love for Drake Bay. It’s quite charming but understated.
Property was located in the Center of Drake. Surrounding where lush tropical plants with beautiful sounds of birds and crickets. Pool was finished and excellent and staff was very accommodating. I would recommend this place.
Great location 5 minutes walk from the beach. Swimming pool very nice on hot afternoons. Helpful staff helpdesk to book my tours and boat shuttle. Also, the on site restaurant also made the best food I had in Drake Bay.
The view is really amazing!!
Simple accommodation that is well located between the road down go the beach and the road up to the restaurants. But given how small Drake Bay is you are really fast in either direction.
Great location and hotel staff helped with wet landings with luggage etc. Rooms were large with a veranda - great to watch the many birds in the trees nearby. Very close to bars and restaurants.
I don’t think we could have picked a better place to stay in Drake Bay. Perfectly located between the beach and restaurants. Very helpful staff and a wonderful view from the room.
