There's a couple of small malls/plazas, and a water park but not much else. We toured the various colonial structures and other sites...
We toured the various colonial structures and other sites associated with the history of the sugar cane industry here. We were impressed with all we learned. Then we drive to the town of Buga which is clean, lovely and filled with several large impressive cathedrals. We spent a morning at Nirvana, a carefully crafted 2 hour hike up and around the side of a mountain. The trail winds along ponds, waterfalls, amid thousands of native plants and flowers. There are bamboo handrails where needed and steps constructed where necessary. Every view was a great photo opportunity. The restaurant and butterfly garden were fascinating and exceeded all expectations.

Palmira is still a nice smaller town from which it is easy to get to other places like Cali, Buga (and the Sanctuary of El Señor de los Milagros), Hacienda el Paraíso, etc. People are very friendly but be aware of pick pockets and those on the street trying to get your money.
