We stayed in Casa Barlovento after the four day Lost City trek. It was the perfect place for rest and relaxation. The staff were adorable and there was a wonderful atmosphere about the place. A real retreat and highly recommended.

Good location, easy to reach El Zaino and Calabazo entrances by bus. The beds were comfortable and breakfast was great - eggs, fresh fruit and delicious coffee every morning. The private pool is nice to chill in, and the views from the room were gorgeous - misty mountains and beautiful flowers. The host was super friendly and very helpful - we would definitely stay again.

The Ecohabs was great! It was very quiet and relaxing. The cabin we had was clean and had air-conditioning, which was great given the temperatures outside. The staff was very friendly, though speaking Spanish helps. We ate at the restaurant most evenings and the food was very good. It was best to pre-order either in the morning or a couple of hours before. The manager had arrange a taxi from Santa Marta airport as well as the pass to the park for us and everything went smooth.
We went to the national park beaches and it was a short bus ride and then a walk (maybe 30-45ins) through the forest with great views of the coast. There were closer beaches in the park but the combination of walk and then swim and lunch at the local huts was more appealing. Ecohabs are 15min by foot from the park entrance. From there we also took a very frequent bus service to Palomino, a town/beach, which is worth a visit. Its a lively place with a lot of backpacker hostels, restaurants and the beach had some nice waves.
The manager of Ecohabs also arranged for a local guide, who lives in the park, for a guided, all day walk through the park and forest. This was somewhat strenuous, given the heat and humidity, but we were able to basically walk through the middle of the forest, see some ancient ruins, spiritual places of the indigenous people, wildlife, and finished at a fantastic viewpoint. The guide was very knowledgable with a lot of personal experiences in the park. Despite the physical excertion this our highlight.

I loved being able to hike on an uncrowded beach as well as on the nearby trails in the woods … overall it was a wonderful place to take a break . Magdalena beach house provided a nice little breakfast and nearby juanchos was one of the few places to go to for lunch or dinner. They were extremely accident and tried to prepare and cook my food in a low cholesterol fashion.
