The property is old and the rooms have not been kept up to date. The carpet looks like it was installed in 1985. The bathtub, toilet and sink were stained, cracked and rusted.

San Pedro is the hub for all tours and activities in the Atacama Desert. We stayed within walking distance of the downtown area. The town is very busy at night and weekends. Many excellent restaurants. Tour companies are all along the main street.
I would recommend renting a car and visiting most sites on your own. All main highways are paved and most sites are easy to locate but have dirt/gravel connecting roads from the main highway. Just slow down and take it easy and a sedan will be all you need. A 4X4 is only needed for really difficult off-road travel.
I would recommend staying for at least 4 days to have time to see the sites without being rushed.

An incredibly vibrant small town in the desert.
An incredibly vibrant small town in the desert. The tours available to surrounding areas make it a first choice destination. The diversity in the landscape from the salt lakes to the high mountain geysers is just amazing. The availability of different food choices is really good. Pizza, pasta, empanadas, stews etc. There is a fabulous bakery ,La Franchicheria, on Licanbur street that every minibus stops at to pick up the bread for the tours(breakfasts luncheons snacks included in the tour). Their white chocolate and raspberry croissant is just the best ever.
Unfortunately as it was a full moon and cloudy we didn't get to do any stargazing. For our tours we used Mitampi on Caracoles Street. Ask for Julian.

A small and beautiful city, in the middle of the desert, focused on turism. The places to visit are extremely beautiful and unique. Good restaurants and easy to get around. I've been there in December, dont know if it is the best time of the year because it is very hot. Maybe october or april would be better.

A fantastic hotel run with great care and attention to detail. You feel welcomed and truly appreciated as a guest. Room service keeps everything absolutely immaculate, breakfast included in the room rate is tasty and fresh and optional dinner is definitely worth trying - I did, twice, and was very happy. I think it was the best food I’ve had in San Pedro. In addition Naturalis has good bicycles, helmets and vests (necessary for entering Valley of
the Moon) that you can rent for free. Highly recommended.
Everything went smoothly. The location is convenient to the center and to the bus terminal.
This isn't a complaint, just a heads up to those travelling in the winter: the room has an electric blanket on the bed but the room itself doesn't have heat.
Also breakfast is 8:30-10am, so if you have an early bus to catch, make sure to buy snacks the night before, because almost nothing's open (cafes etc) in San Pedro de Atacama
til about 9am as far as I could tell.
It’s a beautiful hotel, with very spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and the indoor/outdoor showers were fantastic, makes me wish I had that option at home! The pools were also lovely, and the breakfasts were delicious and the staff were always very helpful and attentive. Considering how dusty the air can get, it was impressive how clean everything was!
Everything ,
The scenery and the hotel were beautiful,
The staff were very friendly and very helpful ,
Jose & Luciano were very kind and helped us with any questions or information we had.
It's a very authentic ,peaceful and great place to stay whilst your in san pedro de atacama,
I would highly recommend, and the location is PERFECT.
La Casa de Don Tomas is one of the friendliest hotels I have stayed in for some time. The staff are very friendly and helpful with very good English. The level of cleanliness and COVID related procedures are excellent. The rooms are very comfortable with a good selection of food available in the restaurant.
San Pedro de Atacama is a small, dusty desert town. Hotel Kimal is not -- it is an oasis in the desert. The property is clean, well-maintained, safe, and conveniently located. The restaurant on-premises is welcoming and of excellent quality, including the small but well-chosen selection of drinks.
We loved this accommodation! Our hosts were absolutely amazing and the nicest people. The tent was so great, the sky was amazing to see as well, the breakfast was also awesome and we just had an overall great time there.
100% recommend staying here while you’re in San Pedro de Atacama!
Incredible and unique place to stay in the San Pedro area. The surrounding Tulor oasis is beautiful. Nico was very helpful before and during the stay.
You need a car to reach the property and to see the local sites, 10 minutes drive to San Pedro de Atacama.
The Lodge is a short walk from the Plaza and the main commercial street. The host Xiaolin is delightful and friendly, and offers very useful recommendations on activities. The breakfast room has more food options than many big city hotels.
Exceptionally helpful staff, nice, quiet little place in San Pedro de Atacama. They have laundry service too and go over and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.
I loved the hotel itself. Very nice and quiet. Staff were friendly too.
The room was perfect. Breakfast service was also good, and they give the option to prepare a box if you are leaving early for a tour.
Outstanding hotel, a wonderful oasis in San Pedro de Atacama. Lovely rooms, very quiet despite its central location, outstanding staff. The bistro like restaurant serves excellent food and breakfast.
The hostel is 15 minutes walking to the center. The room esa very clean and spacious. Gladys was amazing, she told me everything I need to know about San Pedro de Atacama.
