The staff at this motel are incredibly friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. While the decor might be a bit dated, the comfort it provides is undeniable, making it a great value for the price. I'm already looking forward to returning on future journeys, especially considering its convenient proximity to all necessities. Highly recommended!

The location was very nice, out in the country. We listened to crickets all night instead of cars and sirens and it was dark, no streetlights! The suite was well appointed with comfortable seating and a TV. Hostess had already prepared our coffee for morning, all we had to do was turn it on. There was a nice assortment of goodies in the fridge for breakfast/snacking.

We stayed in Port Alberni as a stopover on our short vacation to the coast; accordingly, it is difficult to assess/review the town. I met one lovely couple while banking and was greatly impressed by their friendliness and willingness to help a total stranger.

Port Alberni is relatively easy to get around.
Port Alberni is relatively easy to get around. Lovely hiking spots and parks. Great sports areas. On the beautiful ocean inlet, with fabulous views. A variety of shops and restaurants. The gateway to the wild west coast. First Nations cultural experiences available.
I would not forget my cell phone charger so that getting around might be even easier with GPS.
My favourite was going on a dog walk with my hosts along a lovely wild path by a stream with waterfall and a beautiful kingfisher.

Staff smoke in the lobby
Staff smoke in the lobby
They bring their children to work and children are constantly pulling the fire alarms
Rude service some staff were nice though
Maid did not ever clean the rooms
No more breakfast
Broken vending machines
Not safe for children
Fire hazard as there’s no cover on fire place
And the laundry shoot door is always open a child could fall through that
Over priced for what they provide
Not impressed and the location is filled with drug addicts and homeless people
Maids steal your medication too
Poor service all on all

We enjoyed the activities at the Harbour Quay.
We enjoyed the activities at the Harbour Quay. Farmer's market, evening music and evening strolls along the water while enjoying small shop products. Great restaurants and cafes to choose from. Our favourites: Boomerang Cafe and Bare Bones (platter for two) . Bamfield trip by boat. Sproat lake swimming. Stamp River Provincial park where we saw the salmon going up the waterfalls and bears coming around. ( we learned from a native family at the river to clap loudly, everyone clapping with whatever you had at hand, to get the big black bear approaching to run away). We found people were very friendly and would always greet you. Many cafes and places we did not have time to go to are in our calendar for next time around. Beware restaurants close early in Port Alberni so check closing times before heading out to eat. Overall, great memories of Port Alberni.

Starboard Grill was excellent meal on the docks one night and Twin City Pub had excellent pizza and a variety of local beers.
Used Port Alberni as a jumping off location to visit Tofino/Uceulet and Bamfield - served us well!

We did a few local hikes like the Hole in the Wall and Cathedral Grove. Our hosts recommended another one we did in the morning called Little Qualicum Park where they had views of the upper and lower falls. We visited a brewery and took in the beautiful scenery. Impressed with the stores they had, didn’t know Port Alberni was so big! Would definitely recommend travellers check out this nice place on the island!
Beautiful property located just outside of Port Alberni. The house was incredibly cozy, well stocked with a full kitchen and dishwasher. The main bedroom faces the mountains, treating you to an amazing view each morning. The bed in the master suite is quite possibly the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept on, it was like sleeping on a cloud! :)
Moni the host was very gracious and friendly, as well as very quick and communicative leading up to our arrival! Will definitely be staying here again!
The accommodation is excellent with very good furnishings, plus it is immaculately clean. The lounge area is large and the dining area has microwave, coffee maker, kettle and fridge. Breakfast was lovely - all home made! Yvonne and Bob are perfect hosts and couldn’t have done more for us. Bob took us to Stamp River, where we saw bears fishing and loads of salmon jumping up the waterfalls. We even got a ride to a local restaurant. Such hospitality!
We had a lovely stay. Host was really nice! Stayed in the upper room. It's really big and has everything you need, including a nice couch. Also a big balcony. Bed was comfy as well. Nice that you can grab breakfast each morning and eat it with a beautiful view. The location is perfect: remote, with hummingbirds and other birds flying around. A 10 minute drive to the town center of Port Alberni, were we ate good sushi at Alberni sushi.
This is so far the best place I have stayed at during my vacations. The owners are really nice, humble and generous.
The services include alot more thn you pay for.
The hotel itself is surrounded by greenery.
I would absoultely love to come back here.
And I would give it 10/5 stars.
I would strongly suggest this place. If u are up for a calm and comfortable stay.
The worst place to stay. When we came to the hotel, we made a mistake on booking and in stead of trying to help to solve the problem, the owner was so angry and super mad. The solution was from her side to charge 7 months baby and 3.5 years old boy 100$ extra per night for the same room which we booked. There were no changes just extra charges.
Please take this off booking.com; it is no longer an operational hotel. We showed up at our confirmed booking time, only to be told that the Port Hotel was no longer in business. We had a very difficult time scrambling to find somewhere else to stay.
Char's Landing was a quirky place to stay. I think it would work best for a larger group than ours (3). Centrally located and friendly, helpful manager. The walk around town after our dinner at a nearby restaurant was fun and enjoyable.
Easy to find on Highway 4 outside Port Alberni. parking spaces at side of property, room very large, very well appointed rooms.
breakfast was excellent, delivered to our room. host was very friendly and helpful. a real home from home.
The lady who runs it is lovely. The rooms were extremely old and in poor condition. Broken windows, stained furniture, only one pillow on beds. The hotel has seen it’s day and even at $45 a night I’d be writing the same feedback 😔
We got a ground floor room so access to our vehicle was amazing. We have a 1 year old and it wasn’t an issue at all, rooms are soundproof and the motel is family friendly. We might just like Motels better now for family trips.
The room was immaculate, the bedding luxurious, and the hosts gracious. They provided lots of information about the area, restaurants, and the traffic delays to make sure we didn't get caught.
Breakfast was quite good and there was a large portion for value especially with the hotel patron discount. The waitress was friendly and kept our coffee topped up.
