We stayed to visit mum in the nursing home in St Helens.

We stayed to visit mum in the nursing home in St Helens. We only live one & a half hours drive away and they made us feel most welcomed. We would have liked to stay an extra night and they tried to accommodate us but unfortunately they were fully booked out the following night. Queechy seems to be very popular as I have viewed booking in the past but they have always been booked out.

St Helens is a cute town on the east coast of Tasmania.

St Helens is a cute town on the east coast of Tasmania. It is an ideal location to stay for a few days and venture into the interior and other interesting places to visit around the town. Just don't eat at the RSL. I expected more seafood to be available. Pick up some tasty take away from the special section at the front of the IGA in the mall. Towns and cities have a strange idea about disability access.

    Lovely town with great eateries.

Lovely town with great eateries. The IGA had a variety of salads, the larger one not the small on main road that offered fresh salads. Great board walk around the water. The Tasman Holiday park was modern, good facilities, a view of the water and quiet. This was our first ever stay in one and we were impressed with the cabin and the price.

St Helen’s is the central services community for many nearby small holiday hamlets. It has good supermarkets and an excellent provedore plus restaurants and most of the service facilities a holiday maker would need. There are interesting and varied beaches in the area and plenty of boating & fishing for those who enjoy these pursuits. Plenty to like, we did not find anything to dislike.

Wow - so much more than we expected having read some other online comments. Hotel is huge and very comfortable - as are the rooms. The staff were terrific and really went out pf their way to make us feel very welcome. We even had the chance to chat with the new owner over dinner.... did we mention the food!. Oysters were divine, meals in the restaurant first class and very reasonably priced- as were the drinks. No surprise the restaurant was packed and we had to wait for a table.

We really liked the location and the style of the accommodation. It was nice that there was some tea bags & some sugar, together with a few other pantry items. There was plenty of wood for the fire, however, we didn't use any. I was surprised to see that the property had a sauna, but again, we didn't use it. Good Wifi and reasonable phone reception. St. Helens has the BEST french restaurant in town.... a "must" to try.

The bathroom had a makeover and everything was clean. Bed was comfortable. Staff were good. Great view over St Helens bay. Right in the main street of town and close to supermarkets and cafes and water front. Meals were typical Hotel/bar/RSL style chips/salad or veg/mash. But the steak was THICK and juicy. looked 300g after it was cooked. I ate there twice, both days and both were the same.

We loved our stay at Pelican Point ,especially looking at the bird life and the pond outside the lounge windows . It was such a peaceful place to stay in . I thought the scenery was going to be quite rugged being in a bird sanctuary but we were really surprised by how nice it is . Also the town of St Helens is nice as well . We hope to be back if we come to Tasmania again .

A surprisingly good stay. We only had 1 night in St Helens but glad we chose this place. It's a 10 minute walk from the centre of town with their shops, restaurants etc. The best restaurant in St Helens is actually part of the hotel but unfortunately was closed the night we stayed. The room was spacious & the bed comfy. All we needed really.

It is a decent villa with amneties. However it was a bit far away from St. Helens (around a 5 min drive). So for any food or other shopping would need to drive out. The upstairs area was nice with a good view of the bay area. The downstairs was quite dark with not much lighting. Overall, a decent place to stay around St. Helens area.

A perfect place to stop over while traveling through Tassie. Our host was great and paid attention to detail. We arrived late due to our plane, but a note was left for us, SMS was sent, phone calls were made - they really went out of their way to accommodate us. We are grateful.
