Beautiful historic old town, great for use as a base to tour the gorgeous Flinders Ranges and the outback. Pub meals and Old telegraph Restaurant were great. Nice to chat to the locals. Thoroughly enjoyed Hawker

Jeff Morgan's panorama gallery is a must see. Hawker Hotel meals are good value. A modern cafe in town does breakfasts and lunches. It's easy to get around this small outback town which has a grid pattern street plan and almost no actual traffic.DougAustralia - 10Scored 10

The town of Hawker provided us with a nice retreat after our fairly active daytime outings. The drive from Hawker to Wilpena Pound and Blinman and return is enjoyable, the scenery is superb. Hawker is about 40 minutes to Wilpena Pound and is a good place since phones and internet works, (Wilpena Pound has little or no phone reception). Jeff Morgan's gallery is a must visit. 2 nights should be sufficient to explore the area.
