Our own little cabin in the woods! Cosy, warm, comfortable! Woodsmoke Cabin- loved the warm fire and hot bath after exploring Cradle Mountain!
A small but very well equipped kitchen. We came with groceries and plug in hot plates and microwave ( saucepans, frypan, crockery, cutlery, toaster , kettle , small fridge and even wine glasses! There was also an air fryer- though we didn’t use it)
A quick walk to Visitor centre and shuttle bus!

Location. Very comfortable. Great to have a kitchen and living area.
We loved our visit to Cradle Mountain. Our first stop was the Devils @ Cradle sanctuary where we had an excellent tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the Tasmanian Devil and the Quolls at the sanctuary. We were able to see 5 Devils being fed. Though they looked cute, they had very sharp teeth and managed to tear through the meat and bones quickly. We then went on a bus trip to Dove Lake and were able to take some great photos. Would love to visit here again.

A wonderful place!
A wonderful place! Well worth visiting for its natural beauty, walks and wildlife. Also very well organised with shuttle around the park and to major walking tracks. Definitely worth visiting ng Waldheim for the history of the place

Love the walks at Cradle Mountain.
Love the walks at Cradle Mountain. We went to devils@cradel which was so interesting. Really recommend it but keep your hands out of the devil enclosures! Bring warm clothes - lots of layers is best. We were there end of Feb and it was cold at night and early morning. We had a wild wombat just amble by, eating as it went.

Shuttle buses run frequently to the shores of Dove Lake, making it a must-see mountain resort in Tasmania for easy day-hiking. It's also great to be able to see wombats up close around Ronny Creek. If you have a national park pass, you can buy a shuttle bus ticket valid for 72 hours for $15, so we recommend staying near the visitors centre for 3 to 4 nights.

A lot of walks have well maintained paths so most people can use them.
The scenery is fantastic but beware, be prepared, the weather can be very good one minute and cold and wet the next.
Pay for the shuttle bus, it makes life easier.

Cradle Mountain is a long way from Hobart.
Cradle Mountain is a long way from Hobart. Don't go the Queenstown route - it takes forever. Go via Launceston. The National Park is gorgeous. Use the boardwalk to hike up to the Creek. It's quiet and right there in the middle of the bush. We saw wallabies, birds and snakes. We hiked up to the Boat House and then used the shuttle bus back to the bus stop by our hotel. The shuttles are every 5-10 minutes. The rangers are great.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Highlanders. Gorgeous rustic cabins with kitchen facilities, combustion heater, huge bathroom and comfy bed. We bought some food at Launceston and put it in a cooler bag for the trip to Cradle Mountain as we had heard that groceries are pretty expensive at the general store there. We stayed at Cradle Mountain Lodge 10 years ago but much prefer the privacy and rustic decor at The Highlanders cabins. We would definitely stay again if we came back to Cradle Mountain. 10 out of 10.
Located conveniently close to Cradle Mountain NP.
Check-in process seemless. Reception Staff were friendly, gave excellent service and made us feel genuinely welcome.
The fact that there was quite a well stocked area with a range of grocery items, including dairy and frozen goods, was a bonus for our travelling group.
The cabins were equipped with a very efficient heating system, which had been turned on prior to our arrival, to warm the rooms up.
Our family of three absolutely loved our stay at the Cradle Mountain Highlanders. It was our favourite accommodation whilst in Tassie. It was very clean and well appointed. Excellent cooking facilities. The beds were super comfortable. The cabins are spaced well appart with trees all around with wildlife literally at your doorstep. It was such a peaceful, private place to stay, so quiet. We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful hotel 2 minute drive from cradle mountain. The room was lovely. Dinner is an exquisite buffet food freshly made and breakfasts were sumptuous. If you are staying for a few nights the buffet does not change. Only negative bed mattresses are soft. A big thank you to the wonderful staff you made our stay very special.
The Tavern food was absolutely delicious and well priced. Our Cabin was towards the back of the hotel area with a forest walk right outside our door. The forest view was amazing, so calming and peaceful. The hotel itself is just outside the national park, and a 2min walk to the nearest shuttle bus stop.
Very nice hotel, conveniently located near to Cradle Mountain Walking tracks. Extremely nice and welcoming staff at the reception desk, very helpful! Hotel located in a little park, with plenty of little guests during the evening / early morning such as pademelons, wombats and possums!
Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge is the more expensive but premier accommodation at the Cradle Mountains. It's idyllic setting in the wilderness means that at dusk and dawn, you will see free-ranging wombats and padymelons outside your room.
Cosy modern chalet accommodation with good heating and comfy beds. Great location very close to all activities at Cradle Mountain. The staff at reception and in Hellyer's lounge were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area
Location of the Discovery Park, is its greatest advantage. Its quiet, peaceful and walking distance to cradle mountain visitor centre. Getting in and out of the lodge is vey easy. Cabins are big enough to host a family.
Wonderful location, close to shuttle bus and short walking trails. Cabins were cosy with electric log fires and very comfortable. All hotel facilities in main building, including a delightful spa.
Stay in the middle of Cradle Mountain, close to the shuttle bus options. Cabins are very secluded and have everything you need. Love the touch of the fresh milk being given to all guests.
