Thats's likely an unfair question as Coonamble has suffered from the social and commercial degradation that has occurred in most small Australian inland country towns over the last 40-50 years as more reliable motor cars and better roads enabled locals to shop for a wider and sometimes cheaper price of available goods in large regional centres, e.g. Dubbo. Also, having been a 'local' in my youth, I am also more aware of the surrounding sights and activities than does the average traveller. The resident people, i.e both townspeople and surrounding farmer/graziers, are what gives character to any town, so a preparedness to interact with the "locals" is what will provide travellers with a more meaningful experience.

At the moment the Coonamble area is looking very green and thankfully optimistic. The painted water silo is spectacular - mixing local bird life, amazing sunsets, aboriginal heritage. One of the best we've ever seen. Termo Hotel restaurant was fabulous - very busy which mean meals came slowly, but worth the wait. The hand made gnocchi was 5**** - best I've ever tasted. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Great little town ... great Cafe .....

Great little town ... great Cafe ..... Two Birds for breakfast ... and pub The Terminus for dinner (they have different specials each night). the murals around town are exquisite.... EVERYTHING is shut by 9pm so make sure you don’t need any supplies ... but that is country towns for you .. Petr9l cheaper there than what we are paying at home.... Quirky wares for sale at Two Birds .. and good strong coffee ... well worth calling in ... they have daily specials ... once sold out that’s it. Roads are good . Wide and clean . Clear skies and the stars are magical wit( little ambient light

The unit looked to be fairly new and was clean and comfortable. It was situated well off the road and was very quiet, The bonus is that you can walk a few steps and through a gate into the back of the hotel for a seriously great meal. Probably one of the best pub meals we have had.

We were unable to complete our journey - got stuck at Wee waa by road closures and couldn’t make it to Coonamble. I managed to contact Shelby who was very understanding. Thank you so much and look forward to staying at Castlereagh Lodge Motel another time minus the floods!

Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. They provided information about the local area and recommended places to eat. I noticed that most other guests were returning customers. That says a lot about the quality of the services provided at the Coonamble Motel.

The size, the comfort, the decor, the furnishings, the bathroom and lovely big spa was equal to first class hotel accommodation. It was a bright spot in a friendly little town with good eateries which needs a little cheering up with more tourist dollars.

I was extremely surprised with the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. The beds were perfect. I travel for work and do not come across many hotels at any star level that compare to this budget hotel. Excellent job Termo!!

No taxi service in Coonamble so Tim the owner of The Castlereagh Lodge drove us out to the wedding venue and picked us up after the event, Thanks Tim. Ok not the Hilton but could not fault the Castlereagh Lodge.
