Got a really lovely welcome when we arrived. And checking out helpful with suggestions.
Only problem we had was very noisy guests constantly in and out and the doors banging.
Overlooking the peaceful Mitchell River, The Riversleigh is a historic hotel built in 1886. Some rooms offer a private spa bath and a private balcony. A continental buffet breakfast is provided.

Everything, from the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed.
The room was amazing, so beautifully decorated, clean, new, and fresh.
Massive bath towels, great channel selection, very comfy bed.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was beautiful. The staff made us feel so welcome.
The food was delicious.
Absolutely nothing negative to say.
Highly recommend and will definitely stay again.
Thankyou ☺️

Bairnsdale is a large country town. The Catholic Church as you you enter from the Melbourne side on the left is definitely worth a visit. A volunteer is available and has a wealth of information in relation to the church and history of the area. Not to be missed.
There are plenty of shops, the Potted Pear, gift wares, is great.
There are museums, historical and Aboriginal.
Bairnsdale is a lovely place for a day visit.

Typical Australian town which is busy during the day and completely dead at night. Felt quite safe to walk around early evening but can't comment on late evening. All usual shops available.
We ate at the Cow & Fish Pub which was excellent for food but lacked soft furnishings in the dining area. Felt it was a bit like a social club rather than a hotel/restaurant.
Very convenient for us as travelling down to Paynesville and Lakes Entrance which is only a 25 minute drive away. Also played golf at Metung Country Club which was excellent including lunch at the club house.

Our stay was way too short.
Our stay was way too short. Bairnsdale allows you the perfect location to explore the region.
You have to try the Thai restaurant Cinnamon, it was amazing and the flavours are on point.
We ventured to Metung and Lakes Entrance and could have easily done multiple days at both locations.

Apple Maps was confused/confusing about cemetery location.
Apple Maps was confused/confusing about cemetery location. Not fun on foot! Luckily the locals were super kind.
Info centre: friendly and knowledgeable
Beautiful Catholic Church. Pleasant library. Nice CBD to walk around - houses, trees
Loved my walk by the river and seeing the bats!

RSL served us the wrong order steak that was boot leather.
RSL served us the wrong order steak that was boot leather. surrounding cafes served overpriced meals. A lot of foot traffic around left us not leaving doors unlocked. We used it as a destination for the hotel. And that is where it ended. however we only stayed one night.

The Mitchel River Tavern is an interesting place to stay.
The Mitchel River Tavern is an interesting place to stay. Close to the centre of Bairnsdal, it has comfortable accommodation, a Bistro, Barm, Club and off-street parking.
Staff were helpful and checkin and out was fast and relaxed.
The manager was friendly, helpful, and obliging.
The Motel was quiet, despite being central to the main town of Bairnsdale.
The Motel is old, but relatively clean and all facilities were in working order.
The fridge and freezer in particular, was perfect.
The bed was firm and comfortable.
I felt safe and secure in the motel room I stayed in.
Service and responsiveness prior to our function booking was second to none. Food, restaurant and bar staff were absolutely delightful and could not do enough for us. I stayed at the hotel overnight and was incredibly impressed with the room - size, cleanliness, appliances, comfort, delightful balcony views. Overall - faultless in every way.
The facilities felt fresh and up-to-date - the room was clean, spacious and bright. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the owner was lovely. I recommend the hotel restaurant, too. There didn't seem to be many restaurants within walking distance, so my friend and I had breakfast there each morning and really enjoyed it.
Breakfast is not provided at the Hotel, but it is located a very short walk to a selection of quality cafes that provide great breakfast options. We travelled to the Hotel from Melbourne by train, and the Hotel is only a short walk from the Bairnsdale train station, so it was very convenient, indeed!
Ian checked us in and was just lovely as was Alan during our interactions with him. The rooms were very clean and well stocked. Everything was easy to access. Kids loved the swimming pool. Just stayed one night but was honestly the best night in terms of lovely service and how clean the rooms were.
I've stayed here before and whilst it's not fancy per se, it is very comfortable, very clean and well positioned - particularly for the price as Bairnsdale is never that cheap. Bonus, the shower was very good (good water pressure). I would definitely stay again with all these factors.
There is a lot to like about the Bairnsdale Motel, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the decor is excellent. The bathroom likewise is large and very well appointed. We had breakfast in the dining room and it was very good.
Every time we stay in Bairnsdale, we stay here. I couldn’t fault the room. It’s always clean, the beds are comfy, the parking is close by, and it’s reasonably priced. It is also central to town. Really enjoyed our stay 😊
The room was exceptionally clean. By far the cleanest and best most awesome hotel I have ever been to. Legendary Spa with good water pressure. Cleanest room of all creation. Friendly staff and overall amazing.
The hotel is handy for the town centre and the shops. It has underground parking. A nice clean room with a comfy bed, fridge, kettle and air conditioning. Large shower with ample hot water.
We were very pleased that when there was a double booking made by mistake the motel acted immediately - late at night - and did not charge for cancellation.
