Our stay at Villas on The Bay in Kingscote was superb. The accommodations were generously spacious, impeccably clean, and wonderfully comfortable, with luxurious bed linens. Additionally, the location was fantastic, offering easy access to bars, restaurants, and the jetty, all within walking distance.

American river is quiet and has interesting history and little walks. With driving after 6pm not recommended it is rather good that the restaurant is excellent. It's a peaceful place and cool to see pelicans, black swans and the rare glossy black cockatoos. However, there isn't really a swimming beach so it is maybe more for fishing trips than beach-goers. Staying in the hotel means you are limited to eating out and there are few options (the hotel is excellent but expensive) - 2 nights here was great but we were happy to move on where we had more options of activities and food for the rest of our trip.LucyAustralia - 10Scored 10

Well equipped house, very comfortable and roomy. Has 2 separate toilets. Nice view from main bedroom, kitchen and living/lounge rooms, verandah/deck the full width of the house. Very pleasant to sit on the deck after a day of sightseeing, enjoying a glass of local wine. There is a small supermarket that is quite well stocked. It's 20-30 mins to Kingscote where there is a good sized Drake's supermarket and more restaurants. The local Oyster Farm shop has good fresh oysters, but is only open from 11am to 3pm.

We enjoyed the picturesque view from the balcony onto the sea. We were visited twice by a kangaroo and have seen many birds like the rare black-tailed cockatoos - awesome! Most of the things in breakfast home made or collected locally. Yoghurt, jam, caramel, bread were home made and had a unique taste to all of them. Breakfast is included in the room booking.
