My friend and I had the most amazing time at Stay house Arai. Our room was very clean, comfortable and cozy. Mariko was an incredibly nice host, gave us a lot of information on how to get around Nikko and great recommendations on things to do and places to eat. She also surprised us with an amazing breakfast and some super cute little charms and origami as gifts. The only downside: we ended up regretting only staying for two nights! Would definitely book again.

Elizabeth and Satoshi were incredibly hospitable and went out of their way to make us comfortable. This included giving lifts to us into town and train station, which we really appreciated. The breakfasts and dinner were delicious, we would 100% recommend eating here. The inn is in the woods, so views are great. The room was large and comfortable. A large bottle of water was provided every night. There are a choice of onsens on site which we took advantage of and were great. The common area was comfortable and we had great conversations with Elizabeth in there. Elizabeth and Satoshi are the highlight of this stay. Please don't hesitate to book your stay here!

Breakfast was a choice between American and traditional Japanese. We went with the latter and it was extremely delicious. The room was incredibly comfortable and we got the best sleep. The view of the river from the roomy was excellent and the sound was so calming. Izumi-san was welcoming and kind and great to communicate with over WhatsApp and in person.

Super lovely staff and owners. It's a 2 minute walk from the station and really close to loads of restaurants and shops. The bed was comfortable and the room nice and quiet. It's a beautiful, old Japanese style home, and it was great value for money. Highly reccomend this place!
