My friend and I had the most amazing time at Stay house Arai. Our room was very clean, comfortable and cozy. Mariko was an incredibly nice host, gave us a lot of information on how to get around Nikko and great recommendations on things to do and places to eat. She also surprised us with an amazing breakfast and some super cute little charms and origami as gifts. The only downside: we ended up regretting only staying for two nights! Would definitely book again.

The property is equipped with two private bathrooms. Our stay at Sanga Nikko could not have been better! Yoshi is incredibly kind and helpful in every possible way. From the fresh fruits and bikes, to his advise for trains and the Nikko area, our stay was wonderful. He also offers free portrait photos of his guests, as he was a photographer in his previous job! The accommodation is very clean, 3min from train station and main road, and perfectly prepared with everything you possibly need, nothing could be improved. The Japanese room has futons which are very comfy and softer than expected, and very warm comfy blankets were provided during winter. Very clean bathroom and kitchen as well, with lots of included amenities (toothbrush, coffee, hairdryer, razor, laundry machines, etc) We will definitely stay again here when we visit Nikko! Free Wi-Fi is provided in the whole building. It was a splendid stay, with the owner truly being the friendliest. I loved the room and the company as guests stayed downstairs to talk from 9:30 till 11:30. It was truly an experience.

The star is the onsen - there are 2 onsen rooms in a separate building outside with a maple tree on the walk out. There is a clever light system that allows you to know when the onsens are in use by other guests - plenty of time to be able to use. The onsen rooms are beautifully built and were such a delight to use - there was a private outside space for one of them as well. As the onsens are private, it is fine for people with tattoos to use. There is a large communal area where you have breakfast and can also relax and prepare other meals. Hot and cold water available as well as microwaves and toaster for preparing meals. There is a lovely children's play area as well. Breakfast is served in the morning with a choice of different pastries and drinks that you order the night before. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. Good location - 10 minutes by bus from Tobu Nikko station, 5 minutes by bus to the shrines, temples and Shinyko bridge, 5 minute walk to Daiyu river and about 30-40 minutes by bus to Lake Chuzenji. The beds were comfortable and there was good amount of space for storage in the rooms. Table, chairs and TV in each room.
