Operated by the local Nakhi people and enjoying a history of 15 years, Mama Naxi Guesthouse is a family-style hostel offering cosy accommodation in Lijiang. Free WiFi is accessible in all areas. We liked everything in here. The owner lady welcomed us at the train station and she didn't charge us for the ride. At the guest house, which is something like less than a 10 minute walk to the old city, she also invited us for a cup of tea. She speaks good English and is very helpful with anything you need. She also makes yummy breakfasts that we didn't find elsewhere in China!!! The furniture at the reception is a bit oldie in our opinion but it simply reflects the Chinese style so don't get discouraged by that. It was all great for us. Featuring classic wood furnishings and a courtyard with greenery, Old Town of Lijiang Meiliju Inn is located peacefully in Lijiang Ancient Town. Free WiFi is accessible in all areas. I travelled to Lijiang Old Town with a Chinese friend. The location was very good, close to an entrance gate of the old town, simultaneously it is close to many restaurant and shops. The room was clean and comfortable, a good quality internet is available. The staff, the owners, was very welcoming and helpful. The owner was open to share with the (Pu-er) tea culture of Yunnan province, and invited many times us to be part of a traditional tea ceremony, which was fascinating. As I travelled with a Chinese friend, I did not have any difficulty for communication. One may need to communicate using a translator, or the owners' daughter(kid) may help to be understood.
