Situated in the heart of Tongariro National Park, Skotel Alpine Resort offers a restaurant, a hot tub and a terrace bar with a fireplace. Most accommodations boast stunning mountain or region views. The location is stunning. You can get on the trail straight out of the parking lot. We booked a room with a queen bed and a shared bathroom. The room was tiny, just a few square feet larger than the bed but it was very cozy and the shared lounge was spacious. The shared bathroom was spotless. The shared kitchen was well equipped and I enjoyed the social aspect of being around other travelers. We visited during a spring shoulder but I worry that during peak ski season both the kitchen and bathrooms would be overwhelmed.

Suncourt Hotel & Conference Centre offers spectacular views of Lake Taupo and the volcanoes of Tongariro National Park. A really beautiful and central location, lake view, had a heat pump which kept us warm in the chilly weather. Everything was so clean and tidy.

Ventura Inn & Suites is located in Hamilton’s CBD and offers comfortable and affordable accommodation. Choose from studio rooms or apartment-style suites, with extra space and kitchen facilities. Last minute stay at Ventura Inn was lovely. I was surprised to get a suite so that really exceeded my expectations. Basically it was a one bedroom apartment with all the amenities and comforts. Nice kitchen, big screen TV in the living room, large bed that was very comfortable, and windows that let in a lot of sunlight. Location was great- just a short walk to the main city center. Free parking on site too. Staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay very much. Definitely recommend.

This Millennium Hotel and Resort is located right on the edge of Lake Taupo. It offers luxury accommodation and facilities that include a heated pool, sauna, gym and tennis court. Our room was great a wonderful view of the Lake, we had one light bulb out, but that was ok. The room was clean and nicely appointed. Love the view. The elevator/lift was acting strange so we took the stairs.

I love how everything was clean. I love the big cotton towels, the big comfortable bed, the big sky tv, and how easy it was to access the lift right by the entrance and be up in my room in a flash. The staff were kind and helpful. The buffet breakfast was yummy and the layout of the restaurant was spacious and friendly, overlooking the calm waters of the Waikato River. It was my first time to stay in an Ibis Hotel. Whenever I visited Hamilton I always stayed at Novatel but this one was better in my opinion.

There was no breakfast but none was expected. The location was interesting with both a Park and the Waikato River within easy walking distance. Some would call the area Refugee central, which made for colourful ethnic diversity as people came and went from the many apartment complexes, but also surprisingly quiet as most seemed to be empty although perhaps many were away for the long weekend to escape the concert scheduled to take place in the Park on the Sunday.
