Facing the beachfront, UUTTAAKA Eco-Hotel offers 3-star accommodation in Palomino and has a garden, terrace and restaurant. This is a wonderful place, located on a tranquil beach where it is possible to swim (no strong currents). The Managers are super friendly and service minded. The food is delicious. They have a Whats App group so you can order food or drinks to the beach, and get updated about events and possible excursions etc. The accommodation is clean and very nicely designed. There are a range of animals including a dog, two geese and two parrot chicks on the premises.

The location is super beautiful and quiet, surrounded by nature ( a lot of birds and other animals around), constant sound of the sea was soooo relaxing, swimming pool was also amazing. It was very nuce that this hotel was further from busy Palomino (to Palomino it was only 10min walking distance by the beach) And the staff was brilliant! Very friendly and attentive. Karolina was take super good care of us. Thank you!

I loved this place so much that I came back twice. They only have 4 dorm beds but for about 14 euro a night, the value is so good because it feels like a resort. The breakfast is the best I've ever had included in the room rate of a dorm. The atmosphere is so relaxed and peaceful. The gym is ideal, has all the equipment you need for a decent work out, beach is a 1 minute walk and staff are very sweet but a particular mention for Anna who was extremely friendly, professional and created a lovely atmosphere every morning at breakfast. My favourite place ever!

Offering two outdoor pools and a restaurant, Aite Eco Resort is located near Palomino, just 200 metres from a private beach. It offers free limited WIFi and an open dining room for guests. I only give one excellent review in which place in the world. Since I tried many places in this area this one was my favorite! I already miss the atmosphere you feel! Staff was amazing, they make everyone feel like family! The ambiance around the swimming pool and some drinks was incredible! The meals made by the staff was quite delicious too! I stayed in a room and was really nice and clean. Everything was perfect! The location, Yoga classes, the night out... Perfect place to feel this caribbean sneak peak! To repeat.

The place was very beautiful, It has a micro climate so fresh, and with a lot of nature all around. The staff is very charming from the reservation to the farewell. The place is secure, and I took 3 bungalows for my family. The food is so good. Really very good. We tasted almost all the different dishes and we are very grateful to the kitchen staff, all were fresh, and they know how to keep you and your family healthy. We were in the hotel 6 days and all was OK.

There are not many things to do in Riohacha, so you will have to take trips to Cabo de la Vela, Playa Camaron o Playa Palominos, if you want to explore beautiful nature of Guajira. However, keep in mind that Guajira is an extremely poor region, so if you travel there be prepared to see indigenous Wayu people asking for money in every corner. It is heart breaking to see little ones asking for a bottle of water. It's a rather rough trip, don't look for all inclusive hotels or other luxury things there.

Palomino, Guajira is a small tourist town with kind locals, several hostel options and things to do. I don't feel the locals are overbearing, they are respectful, yet helpful and the pueblo has a lot to offer. It is also about an hour away (give or take) from Tayrona (Tairona) a hot spot in Magdalena. If you plan to visit please be courteous to the surroundings and don't litter.

Riohacha is the place to stay if you're heading up into La Guajira... There is nothing here to do really. Good Arabic restaurant, surprisingly! Shocking poverty in this region - very sobering.

A very relaxed and simple town.
A very relaxed and simple town. The main road is about a mile from the beach down a dirt road where all the main hostels are. An hour away from Tayrona, gateway to the rest of La Guajira and tubing down the river and three great reasons to spend a day or two lazing by the pool in Palomino. The beach is nice but the water isn't Caribbean clear and with a strong current it's not advisable to swim in so make sure your hostel/hotel has a pool!

The staff was very friendly and helpful and even called someone who spoke English to explain the safety/security measurements to take in this part of Colombia. The breakfast was good and we loved the rooftop terrace and the hammocks on the balcony.

Best location in Riohacha, best hotel in Riohacha. Some previous reviews mentioned the noise outside of the air conditioning units but I had no issues with either. It was a peaceful nights sleep and can’t beat the location. The breakfast was fresh and available until 10, excellent hospitality, fantastic view from the top floor terrace where the restaurant is. Seemed expensive for Riohacha but it was nice

This was one of the - possibly even THE best hotel experience of my life & I can’t wait to come back asap to this peace of PARADISE ON EARTH!!! 😍😍😍 Come here, if you are looking for: - lush, virgin jungle meeting quiet, empty sand beaches - rooms with showers/pools opening to the jungle or a bungalow directly ON the beach - a beautiful experience sustainably immersed in the most beautiful nature - amazing activities in the surroundings (Tayrona, river tubing, flamingos, …) - privacy & quietude - spending hours in a hammock high up in the jungle - the loveliest, most helpful & attentive team 🫶 - being treated like a VIP 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Don’t come here: - if you can’t live without the internet, because the connections in the whole region are not strong or stable. But honestly, you don’t need the internet, anyway. Alisonn was really nice and we've felt very comfortable, moreover she bakes really good and tasty bread, delicious. In the end we stayed one night longer and we've really enjoyed the place and the calmness. The river is really close and it was amazing and very refreshing to cool down there. We also loved the not so central location, away from the main street but yet so close to reach everything easily.

I was at Makao in February and had a great stay! The location right on the beach is fantastic, rooms are clean, and we enjoyed the food and cocktails from the restaurant/bar. You can take surf lessons right in front of the hotel and we were able to book river tubing there as well. The staff are really friendly and helpful, special thanks to Jesús and Anderson!
