Located 18 km from the Iguazú Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site, Puerto Iguazú is an Argentinean town situated near the Brazilian border, in the Province of Misiones. Its compact city centre is packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, while the area is well-known for its red soil and lush vegetation.
The stunning falls comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km between Argentina and Brazil. They have a maximum height of 80 metres and a water flow that can be three times superior to that of the Niagara Falls.
The Guaraní natives named the falls ‘iguazú’, meaning ‘big water’. The national park was founded in 1907, and some of the best hotels in Puerto Iguazú are located in the road linking the city centre to the falls. Some hotels on the Argentinean side of the waterfalls offer beautiful views.
The local bus station offers links to several long-distance destinations, including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The city is served by Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, while the Brazilian Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is 16 km away.
Whether you need a backpacker hostel, a hotel near the airport, or a 5-star resort, don’t miss the Puerto Iguazú deals available on Booking.com!

Definitely recommend staying at Puerto Iguazú when visiting the waterfalls. I've been to the nearby town in Brasil too (Foz do Iguaçu) and it didn't seem as nice. In Puerto Iguazú you have all you need: a conveniently located bus terminal with many buses (some also cross the border, check the timetable in advance), a launderette, farmacy, nightlife with nice restaurants for any budget.
The only hard thing was cash withdrawal. I solved it by exchanging some of my cash into Argentinian pesos.
You should visit both the Argentinian and Brasilian sides of the waterfalls.
On the Argentinian side, be aware that there's an independent company in the waterfalls park which organises boat trips which need to be booked in advance (if you're interested in a boat trip).
In Brasil, you should also visit Parque Das Aves and the huge Itaipú dam.
Allow ~4 days in total, it will be beautiful!

Amazing bucket list experience!
Amazing bucket list experience! We went later in the day and rode the boat ride that took us practically right next to the falls! Truly awe-inspiring and something that all should experience. Prices are great. Be prepared for the steps down, and then back up!...to and from the boats - it's a bit of a climb. Didn't get to do much else at the park - if there is a next time, we will go earlier to get the full experience!

Very disappointed.
Very disappointed. Spent time and money to get to this part of Argentina to see these falls and we saw very little due to over tourism. It was so crowded you were elbow to elbow, face to face and some times wheel chairs running over your feet so they can get by. It was terrible. What a way to ruin 1 of the 7 wonders.

I loved the Falls, especially the Argentina side.
I loved the Falls, especially the Argentina side. This was also our chance to visit Paraguay. There were some nice restaurants nearby. The weather was terribly hot and humid. We didn’t stay long at either Park because it was too hot and crowded in the morning. The sidewalks in Puerto Iguasu are terrible.
The location on the right across the border from Brasil and the proximity to international Iguazu airport was good. The hotel is large and has a beautiful pool area and 3 different type of restaurants all very good! -Breakfast was good! The casino is small but we'll laid out and has all the games most large casinos have, just fewer tables. You can stay here on a getaway trip and not even leave the Hotel although the Iguacu Falls are a must to visit! the little town on the outskirts has a lot of variety of good food and wine options!
The property is a beautiful oasis in the hot and humid Puerto Iguazú. The garden is the best part, with several spots to relax and enjoy the greenery with a cold beer, the pool is small but perfect for a cool dip, there are deck chairs for sun bathing, common areas of the house are very confortable. The host Marie was very welcoming, was able to help with planning of our time in Iguazú, and was also able to recommend several places for nice food near by. Marie's dogs and cats were also very welcoming company.
A smallish hotel in a good location within ten minutes' walking distance of the bus station and the centre of Puerto Iguazu. Quiet and peaceful with a view over the river from the breakfast room. An excellent breakfast (cheese, ham, fruit, bread, cakes, juice, cereal, yoghurt, tea, coffee, etc). Very helpful and friendly staff with someone on reception 24 hours a day. Also has a nice swimming pool. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the river - very pleasant. I would certainly recommend this hotel.
Very comfortable apartment with kitchen, spacious room and nice bed. A/c , wifi and hot water available. The place is very calm and located only 15-20 min walk away from the city center. Supermarkets nearby are open till 9/10 p.m. there are a few restaurants too just 5 min from the hotel. They have a very nice dog living here named Charlie, he’s super friendly and he enjoys treats.
Excellent location. Safe. Close to public transportation to Iguazu waterfalls and puerto Iguazú town ($3000 pesos each way and per person as for my stay days in mid april) if you like to walk you could go from the hotel to the Iguazú town. excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff members. Very responsive via WhatsApp (find them on Instagram). Would stay again if I come back
This was an absolutely stunning and perfect hotel. It was our first night In Argentina and it lived up to every expectation. But most importantly Pablo was so helpful. Without him, our trip would not have run anywhere near so smoothly! The breakfast is so fresh and delicious! In an ideal location. What an absolute find! Can’t recommend enough
It is a fun place ... if you like beer you'll lilke this place. We were there in the off-season. I bet during peak season or weekends this has a lot of partying going on. Pool/outside is nice. It is on the edge of town so is one of the closest hotels to the Argentina entrance to Iguazu. Food is decent. Staff was accommodating.
We loved everything about it! The hotel has lots of history (think of the movie "The Misson") and is set on such a beautiful setting. It even has its own museum. They serve wonderful buffet style breakfast and the room was immaculate. The view of the river and Paraguay across the river is breathtaking.
We stayed at a hotel with 3 kids. The property was safe and easy to find. We slept well and breakfast was good. Kids had fun swimming at the small pool after we visited the main attraction. Air conditioner worked well and this is a main thing you need in this town in December. We loved our stay.
Dario and Lucia are super nice and friendly hosts. They picked me up at the airport. The room was very clean. Perfect aircon too. The breakfast buffet was the best I’ve had in 2 months in Argentina. If I come back to Puerto Iguazu I’ll stay here again. Highly recommended.
amazing hotel in a beautiful location! super relaxing with multiple pools and bars. i really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back. also, the spa is a must. make sure to get a massage with Janina - she’s the best massage therapist I have ever had!
The hotel is situated in the jungle and is made of stone and wood so it blends in! There is also a pool right next to the bungalows. It's a really beautiful design. The restaurant is excellent too, so there is no need to go into town to eat.
Really good location close to the bus terminal for transport to the falls and across the border to Brazil.
Room was spacious and clean.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Puerto iguazu
Front desk staff (Karim) was very friendly and provided me with directions and information regarding transportation, restaurants, and Iguazu National Park. The location of the hotel is a big plus.
Located in the centre of Puerto Iguazu. Lots of places to shop and eat nearby. Bus station within walking distance. Decent breakfast included in the price. There is a pool, but we did not use it.
The perfect hideaway when visiting Iguazu Falls. An easy walk to all bars and restaurants but far enough away to be a quiet, secluded, relaxing hotel with a refreshing pool.
Excellent view of the 3 border-countries, Paraguai, Brasil and Argentina, from my 6th floor room! Breakfast great, and top location, really near the center of Puerto Iguazu.
