Comfortable and clean rooms. The bed was cosy. The rain shower and spa tub were enjoyable and clean. The sofa was large and plush, perfect for watching Netflix on the tv. Kasha and Ira manage the property well. They are friendly, accommodating and work hard to ensure the property is well kept. Our stay was lovely and peaceful. We added an extra night stay because it was so neat, clean, comfortable and pleasant.

Whanganui is a great place to visit.
Whanganui is a great place to visit. Friendly, great vibe, lots to see and do and not very expensive. I have never had a bad coffee there! Saturday market by the river is a must, as are the parks and gardens, a trip on the Waimarie, the tunnel and elevator, arts trail, beaches, bike trails, museum and restaurants. Heritage Weekend and Christmas Boxing Day are REALLY busy with a ton of stuff on. The Boatshed in Aramoho was our favourite restaurant this trip. Only negative in Whanganui is the AWFUL driving - and we are from Auckland!

The history of the city is clearly evident in the retention of a lot of charming century old buildings which have been carefully maintained on the outside with appropriate interior upgrades. A ride on the river steamboat and a unique in-ground lift which takes you from near sea level to the top of a hill suburb are other attractions.

Whanganui has a wealth of history.
Whanganui has a wealth of history. Like many modern day cities/towns around NZ, Whanganui had its hey day at the turn of the 1900s, and as the river became less important for transport and access, the local economy went into decline. However, many aspects of this affluent past have been preserved. Highlights for us included the trip aboard the paddle Steamer (1912 restored) Waimarie, taking the elevator to the top of Durie Hill and climbing the 176 steps to the top of the town's WW1 memorial.
Walking around Majestic Square and the modernist War Memorial Hall, made us feel transported to Brasilia, as this style of architecture was lauded by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.
We attended The Whanganui Opera House's Repertory Theatre production of Titanic Letters which was a lovely finale to our stay here.

Great area, near beach and a nice little holiday park with good amenities. Swimming pool close to kitchen, BBQ and covered area with tables, fab for families. Our small accommodation looked like a playhouse from the outside with a veranda to sit on, but provided tv, shower, toilet, kitchenette and double bed. Fine for the 1 night we stayed.

Our church group members went to Whanganui, some stayed at Coachmans Lodge Motel and some stayed at Burwood Motel. We did not really going around Whanganui as we were there for an event for our church and we had our lunch and dinner at the church hall.
We find it very easy to get around Whanganui and we will visit other places next time we go there.
We really enjoyed our trip.

Whanganui is one of the most pleasing towns in New Zealand: visually and culturally.
The Quartz ceramics museum is the real jewel in the crown of the town. Rick Rudd the creator has produced a world-class showcase collection of the best in this, the oldest of human art forms.
Suite was sparkling clean and fresh, quality linens, comfortable bed and pillows. Beautiful, modern large bathroom with double shower. Alka provided lots of options for breakfast, including bread, cereal, milk, yogurt, tea and coffee and fruit. Dishes and cutlery for two was included. Beautiful view to private yard. Large windows with plenty of sunshine. Private access path with lights activated in the evening. Excellent property that we would highly recommend! And a wonderful host family!
This is truly character villa and Debby has done a splendid job to preserve the character and experience of living in a villa from a different era. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would certainly stay here again the next time Im in Whanganui.
The self check-in technology Debby is using makes the entire experince from start to finish a breeze - no hassles at all looking for keys in lock boxes or hoping someone is home to let me in.
It was absolutely lovely to spend a night at the Whanganui Seaside Holiday Park. The small cabine and its tiny but private bathroom was extremely cozy and warm for us: my partner, our puppy, me and the baby to be. Cabine and common area were spotless cleaned, and the bedsheets were smelling just great!
On top of it all, the friendly staff made our staying even more fortunate. We’ll definitely be back:)
King exec suite perfect for family with seperate bedroom that can close off- great if you’ve got kids needing to go to bed earlier. Sound proof, clean, excellent shower and amazing huge spa bath. Loads of extra pillows and blankets, and portacot for baby. Felt cosy and lush. Offered milk for free on arrival, quick easy check in. Balcony with outdoor seating. Plenty of parking.
Very new, well appointed roomy studio apartment with wifi, kitchen bar, spacious shower and large comfortable bed. Off-street parking behind a gate gave extra security. Rory is a thoughtful, helpful and gracious host. Whanganui is a beautiful town with a rich history, although I needed to spend my time working so I only got a glimpse! Worth a second look!
The room was huge and well laid out. It was very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. The property is situated next to a New World supermarket and across the road from a Pak n Save and Countdown. It is very convenient to the road in from Wellington and the road to New Plymouth. Victoria Ave is Whanganui’s main street.
Liked the atmosphere of the English style pub down below the accommodation and we enjoyed dinner in the restaurant. Also a good breakfast was part of the package. Enjoyed an overnight stay in Whanganui on a road trip between Wellington and Auckland and loved the pub!
The signal box was everything we had hoped for and better. Peaceful and well appointed. Overlooking gardens and the River Whanganui. Chickens and ducks roam the garden. A lot of thought had gone into furnishing this place. I wish we had booked longer here.
We thoroughly enjoyed the rooms, they were very comfortable and the decor was delightful. It was a very quiet location and we were close to where we wanted to be in Whanganui. The breakfasts were delicious and there was plenty of choice.
Whanganui Birch Court - Harakeke was the perfect stop and provided a warm welcome. The hosts were gracious and the accommodations were comfortable and inviting. It was an ideal place to relax and unwind during our trip.
Everything you could need and more! Best accom in Whanganui for groups. Great to have separate bedrooms and a proper lounge and kitchen. The garden and deck is really lovely - plus the snack bar is a massive highlight!
Location was great. Restaurant/bar really nice warm atmosphere with lovely meals. We thoroughly loved the hotel decor befitting with the hotel name, ie "grand"
