FAQs about hotels in Munich

Beyond Oktoberfest

Renowned for its stunning architecture and the world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest, Munich needs little introduction. Its vibrant cultural scene, great shopping and fantastic museums speak for themselves.

Munich has something for everyone: from historic palaces and castles, to stunning royal avenues to world class galleries and museums. Don't miss the new city hall in the heart of Marienplatz or the former residence of the Bavarian kings, the Residenz. Munich is also home to the world’s most famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus.

For great shopping, Karlsplatz is another commercial wonderland square that takes up much of the city centre and the upscale area around Maximilianstrasse. Munich is famous for its food too, so make sure you try the local Weißwurst, Leberkässemmeln and other popular pork dishes.

Thanks to efficient S-Bahn train, getting to the city centre from Germany’s second busiest airport, Munich International Airport is quick and easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, youth hostels or comfortable apartments, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Munich visit.

Definitely do the Cathedral and University Quarters for the musuems and culture and the English Gardens. You must do a traditional Beer hall after all it is Munich! The hoffbrau house is the most famous but Augustine has the best beer and better service its where the locals go.

Munich was very expensive and a bit underwhelming.

Munich was very expensive and a bit underwhelming. The architecture within the city centre was a joy to behold and capture, however, although the restaurants we visited were first class in terms of provisions, amenities, and customer service, it is not a place for someone to visit on a very low income. There are places to eat out at outwith the city centre which ate less expensive but these are hard to discover. Saturday nights in the centre of Munich is out of bounds if visiting a restaurant or bar unless you make a reservation beforehand. We couldn't get into any licensed establishment on Saturday evening in the city centre although there are plenty of eateries. Retail therapy on a Sunday is a no-go as well as 99% of retailers are closed on this day. The planned guided tours of Munich are mainly German spoken and are very stop start in nature, so you'll hardly get to see and savour the place you primarily wish to visit like Dachau Castle.

Munich has its own character and charm on its own! Marienplatz and the shopping district would be a good place to start the attraction sightseeing. We stayed 4 days (3 nights) in Munich.

We stayed 4 days (3 nights) in Munich. It is very easy to get around in the town, the underground network is great, you can easily access any place. We visited Deutsches Museum and spent a whole day there: it was fascinating, however, 6 hours were only enough for a quick visit, you could spend a lot more time in there. Next day we went to the FC Bayern München Museum and Stadium/Allianz Arena. The museum is interesting, you can walk around it in about 1.5-2 hours, there is a souvenir shop at the exit as well. It is worth booking a guided tour around the stadium, it is very enjoyable.

    Great place to visit.

Great place to visit. Did Mike's Bike Tours - great way of seeing some of the city - leisurely pace. Went to Dachau with my teenage son - easy get there. Visited Marienplatz, climbed the church tower, had beer in the Hofbrauhaus. Englischgarten great for a visit - massive - surfers on the Eisbach river so impressive. Public transport in the city is very good - easy to get around and cheap. Would really recommend a visit to Munich.

Excellently located hotel a world away from the hub-bub of Munich city centre, but only a few stops away from the main squares and other sights. Staff were very helpful and friendly and you felt immediately at home here. Breakfast had a lot of selection, but did get busy at times with an over-spill area in the reception, that worked ok though. Ask the staff for when the quieter times are. Nearby there are restaurants, U-Bahn, a park, buses and a beer garden. A great place to stay in Munich overall.

The rooms were cozy and comfortable and the location was perfect for Octoberfest, which was just a couple blocks away. The staff were excellent and very helpful. There is an underground station right in front of the hotel so it is very easy to get anywhere in Munich you want to go. Even though it is slightly outside the city center (10 minutes via tram), I would consider staying here even if Octoberfest wasn’t going on.

Our room was huge! The beds were comfy and it was very clean. It had plenty of free parking, a very nice bar and a restaurant that was part of the hotel. Although it is not in the city centre, it is conveniently located only a 5 minute walk from the tram into town. Getting to downtown Munich takes approximately 15 minutes by tram. Breakfast was incredible! Probably the best breakfast of any hotel that we’ve ever been to.

We stayed in the hotel during the Oktoberfest season and it was one of the cheapest hotels available that is a ride away from Munich. The room was nice and clean with ample space for our stuff. The staff were nice and spoke English. Since it was too early for our check-in when we arrived, we left our luggage in the lobby and it was safe. It was also a few minutes walk from the train station. The wi-fi was great too.

The hotel is some distance from the city centre but that for me was a plus... Munich is full of bars and pubs and lots of drunk, loud tourists ...The hotel is far enough that it's quiet area and yet in 10 min walk and you are entering the "fun" zone. This is large chain hotel so everything is expected, clean , well run, overall nothing majorly bad.
