Typically Swiss, Interlaken has an incredible location: on the Aar River linking nearby Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and in the shade of magnificent Alpine mountains including famous Jungfrau. The wonderful views are seen flying into Interlaken Airport.
The lakes are great spots for sailing, swimming or simply having a picnic along the peaceful shores. The area also has its fair share of high-adrenaline pursuits including bungee jumping, paragliding and river rafting.
In winter it’s all about the Interlaken skiing and snowboarding, with options including the fabulous Jungfrau Winter Sport Region and family-friendly areas with easy slopes. The Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn glacier is UNESCO World Heritage-listed, and the Jungfraujoch mountain railway takes you to the Top of Europe, the highest railway station in Europe. For a break from skiing, Europe’s longest toboggan run is a thrill a minute. Après-ski ranges from bars and discos to cosy restaurants serving specialities like fondue and raclette.
The town offers great views of the snowy peak of Jungfrau, best seen from Höheweg which also has a Japanese garden and lots of shops selling all things Swiss. Interlaken is a good base for a break to see the Bernese Oberland as it has good rail links to the many other well known towns like Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Brienz etc. Train services are expensive, but very efficient. However, I would not choose to visit Interlaken if I were not staying there. It is pricey and can be busy, food options are very limited and it has a lot of car traffic.Perry - 10Scored 10

Interlaken is a great starting point for touring the region. If the clouds prevent going to the tops of the mountains, the two lakes are beautiful to explore. There are summer and winter sports, and picturesque towns and walking trails all over the region, with excellent train service to all. We stayed for 3 nights in Interlaken. Bettina and Sven, are wonderful hosts This holiday apartment had everything available for day to day requirements like, bath soaps, dishwasher pods even offered two loads of laundry., Luggage storage. Interlaken was our base as we explored other villages. This is one of the best place I enjoyed and will remember. Spectacular views, lots of shopping and restaurants. Very efficient mode of transport. Had a great time in Harder Kulm, did not disappoint Best spot in watching para gliders. Will definitely be back

What a lovely city that's clean with fresh air. Easy to walk around the riverside - visits to Lake Thun / Lake Brienz for beautiful views. Small towns/hamlets along the lakes are easily accessible via daily cruise.

The shower pressure was the best in Europe. Place was spacious. it was old and looks rundown but actually isn’t. things needing replacing in the past were new. supplied coffee pods were good. free Netflix ready to go. location was very slightly out of town in a suburban area (hence the spectacular view )but only 5min walk to supermarket, restaurants and amenities. Maybe 7-10mins to interlaken west station.

Marco was the perfect host, he even carried our suitcases to our apartment. The apartment was roomy, clean and comfortable and the kitchen was small but functional and had all the utensils and equipment you needed to cook. It also had a laundry available for guests. The apartment was an 8 minute walk from Interlaken Ost station and cafes, shops and supermarkets, and the location was in a very quiet part of the town.

Surprisingly strong wifi signal on the 3rd floor that I was staying. Most hotels, B&B have crap wifi in your room, but not this one. Drinking station. Not sure if this is norm in most accomodation on Switzerland, but I love that good coffee is on the house with some caramel biscuits to liven up the start of the day

The staff were very polite and helpful. the location is great! only 5 minute walk to the main strip where all restaurants and shopping are in Interlaken. 10-15 min walk to the main Interlaken ost train station. I would Definitely stay here again if visit Switzerland again :)
