I was looking forward to our stay in a retro-style renovated hotel. The reception staff were welcoming and pleasant. We had a 'cosy' suite booked in the Heritage wing on the 3rd floor. As we were only staying the one night, I love the 'cosy' option and had no preconceptions about it being anything other than small, yet well appointed.
SMELL
The room was beautiful with the exception of being confronted by an overwhelming, intense and putrid chemical, floral odour. It literally took our breath away. The windows could not be opened and having the door open didn't diminish the smell. To the hotel's benefit, the On Duty Manager organised an extractor fan immediately to try and expel the odour. 45 minutes later she contacted me and said the odour couldn't be removed, and she personally checked the room.
UPGRADE
We were then provided a King room with a balcony, an apology note and a complimentary bottle of red for any inconvenience caused. The room was spacious and we enjoyed the use of the balcony. So a big thank you to the On Duty Manage for both organising an upgrade and also checking the odour in person.
AUDREY'S
WOW!! Now this was amazing. We had a wonderful welcome from the Maitre De. Our waiter, Sebastian, was a delight. He was informative, bright and attentive. The food was undeniably perfect. It was a well oiled machine from kitchen, to table service to the perfectly matched wines.

We stayed here for one night due to its proximity to the ferry but could have easily stayed longer. It was perfect for us, having a car. It was very quiet, so we slept well, and very nicely styled, with everything we needed. The bed was quite big and very comfortable.

The Portsea Hotel was a nice Hotel to stay in and different to the big city hotels we had been used to. The room have been recently refurbished and were very clean and tidy. It had most things for our comfort. I would definitely recommend staying here if you can.

Fabulous property even in winter.
Fabulous property even in winter. Great restaurant, pizzeria, bar. Undercover outdoor areas to enjoy a drink etc. views out over the water from our room were gorgeous also a private balcony with table and chairs was enjoyed. Walking to the beach, shops, pier, easy and close. Parking over the road from the venue although quite close. Would have preferred breakfast to be available and a toaster in the apartment perhaps, in addition or instead of a coffee machine. Will definitely visit again.

The wild coastal walks one side, and calm swimming beaches...
The wild coastal walks one side, and calm swimming beaches inside the bay (weather dependent of course). The amazing history (especially the quarantine station, and Cheviot Beach where Harold Holt disappeared) and stunning homes. Millionaires Walk a must, as is a dolphin swim. Revamped Portsea pub fabulous. The new Portsea lifesaving club is a credit to the community - huge building but well hidden in the landscape. And wow, those waves - what a seascape. Worth spending at least a few days at the Portsea Golf Club (Mercure) to explore.
Very very quiet location at night (maybe a little too quiet as there was basically no one there). Nice views overlooking the golf course. Basic clean accommodation which is what I paid for. Breakfast included was simple but nice. The waiter (young guy) in the restaurant who served me was lovely and attentive however he was the only one as all other staff members including reception treated me as an imposition for being there and requiring to be served.
Didn't have breakfast but had a meal at the Portsea Village Bar and grill never met someone like Simon in the restaurant before who knows his food inside and out couldn't help you enough so friendly he felt like he was one of my family the food ,salads and vegetables were so fresh it was like Simon just pulled them out of the garden before they were served also the female chef is magnificent everything was cooked to perfection thanks to all
The property was located in a quiet area of Portsea and still close to Sorrento. The house was spotless clean with all amenities needed. The beds were very comfortable. Fantastic for families or a couple. Open fireplace inside and a fire pit located outside. The host's communication was absolutely amazing. Thank you for having us stay. Totally recommend
A++++++++ we will be back.
The house is huge, cosy and clean with a lot of amenities provided. Kelly ensured that the place is kids friendly, she even reached out way before the stay to find out the kids' age group in order to cater the necessities. She also provided us with additional heaters to make sure we are warm during the cold and rainy weather.
Located over looking the Portsea gold club as well as the ocean. Beautiful trees around. Very peaceful views. Bed was really comfortable and room is spacious and the balcony was really sweet. The staff were lovely and the Brekky was delicious so was the coffee and they use almond milk lab.
The location was excellent - great proximity to the beach and to all Portsea has to offer. The room was lovely, a little small if you are thinking of bringing your own food, but still made it work. The pool/tennis courts/gym facilities were all excellent!
The reception service was amazing and we felt very looked after. The rooms were filled with all kinds of comfort things to make it feel quite luxury. Easy walk to the beach and a stunning beer garden and restaurant! The pizza and gnocchi was delicious!!
Stunning location, and so peaceful. We had views of the golf course and right out to Port Phillip Bay. A beautiful comfortable room, the balcony was great for a sunset Shiras, cheese and crackers.
A fantastic house to relax and unwind. Kitchen has everything you need. All bedrooms and bathrooms are very nice. Beds are very comfortable. The lake view is great too.
