Hotel Kazurabashi, hotel in Miyoshi

Featuring beautiful nature views from its rooftop hot spring bath, Hotel Kazurabashi offers Japanese-style rooms and a dining room where food is prepared in the hearth at the guest's table.

The overall experience was good. Taking a "cable car" to the outdoor Onsen was an experience. Having said that the Onsen facility is basic compared to some others that I have visited before.

To say the Iya valley is beautiful would be an understatement. The vine bridges, the scarecrow village and gorges are pretty much all you'll hear about and for good reason. They're the main attraction and the reason people go. It's all about the nature and a handful of curiosities like the Yokai museum. While not the tourist powerhouse of big cities like Kyoto, it does kind of live off of its "in the know" tourists. A new generation of younger entrepreneurs are trying to revitalize the area and transform it into something more in line with their modern sensibilities. Travel is not easy and requires a lot of planning and preparation. Buses are extremely rare and trains as well. Bad weather can throw a wrench into your plans and mess up everything. Renting a car almost a must in order to visit the more far away spots, but a strong and experienced cyclists could probably do it - maybe. Those hills and mountains aren't always easy! And those trucks get a bit scary. I stayed in Ikeda-cho, one of the bigger areas of Miyoshi city but still a bit of a one horse town. But one thing is has going for it is that you can follow the Yoshino river for an 80km ride into Tokushima city. On a nice day, it's one of the best bike rides you could do.

    Miyoshi is great.

Miyoshi is great. Spread over quite a few km, this area has so much to offer. I loved the historic elements as well as the scenery/ geography. Most restaurants focus on fresh local produce, and spot on for flavour and quality !

Beautiful & amazing place, The rare grand landscape of the mountains and waters in Japan!!! There are many interesting places hide in the deep mountains, waiting for you to discover, it is a place worth spending a few days to slowly experience and play! And if you hate crowding with many tourists, this is definitely a great choice.

Everything. Staff were friendly and attentive including valet parking service. Hotel was a lovely building in a beautiful setting. Rooms were clean and spacious, staff will make your beds up whilst at dinner. Dinner and breakfast were both outstanding, a delicious selection of traditional and locally sourced japanese cuisine in a very aesthetic room. We only used the outdoor onsen which you take the funicular to. It was clean with beautiful views and not busy during our visit.

I booked there one week before leaving Japan since I never went to an Onsen. It is definitely not the regular kind of onsen and more of the high end kind. the food was original and tasteful (both evening and breakfast) both the indoor and the outside bath were beautiful and the staff was speaking good english. If you are tall, notify them, they had to change my Kimono since they did not expect me to be this tall (over 178cm you should probably tell them).

Great location to visit Iya Valley (just need to catch the JR train a couple of stops to Oboke). Nice, traditional guesthouse 10 mins walk from town/train station. You can use bikes for free to ride into town (only 5 min ride to a big supermarket). Air-conditioning in the room and we also had a small balcony. Can use washing machine for free and we dried everything outside. Beds were fairly comfortable for Japanese style.

We had a Japanese style room which was spacious clean and had everything we needed. There is no shower so you need to go to the bath house. The bath house has an indoor and outdoor onsen, a sauna and the bathhouse facilities. The restaurant serves traditional Japanese dinners, each night slightly different. Breakfast is a buffet style which includes some western options

Japanese omotenashi is well embodied in this establishment; the owner of the hotel personally comes to greet guests during dinner with a traditional folk song and also attending to guests table by table and all staff were polite and helpful. Room was comfortable and all the baths were great, particular the outdoor bath available for all guests blasting a great view.

The place was surprisingly new even though they have traditional Japanese rooms with tatami. Shared toilets and showers were also new and clean. Restaurant in the first floor (run by the same people as the hostel) had an amazing, relaxing vibe and tasty food (there were a lot of options with deer meat and Asian-fusion cuisine).

Totally cute traditional Ryokan with kitchen and several rooms. It feels a bit like a hostel but it is really charming because there are only Japanese houses around and gardens in a very rural area. Seems really authentic. Nice host and good standard!
