Room was VERY NICE and clean and everything worked. I loved the room. The ice machine on my floor was broken, though.
I appreciated the self service laundry.

If you work in or / commute to NJ or NYC - this gem of a boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Newark is a must consider - it has the amenties you need, super easy to commute into/out of, has shuttle service, a restaurant but is also right be military park so you are close to restaurants / stores - all safe and you cannot beat the price - the accommodations are far superior to other hotels in NYC when you factor in price alone. Always my go to location

TRYP was a little bit more expensive than a regular motel or 2* but I was very impressed with my stay here. Firstly the location. 10min to Newark penn. close by to buses. Centrally located. If you don't mind the 30 min commute to New York Manhattan and can manage the confusing transit options, TRYP is definitely worth an option and you'll save a bit instead of staying in New York main stream. The facility was kept very clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Not a lot of restaurant options in the area..but I loved both my stays here, one was in a smaller room and the other one was big. Definitely recommend.

When I spoke to the owner, I was told that there was no reservation and that they have stopped making reservations with Booking.com months ago, yet I received confirmation, very confusing and not professional I was left to find a last minute room!

Honestly, I find Newark to be sketchy and not super safe.
Honestly, I find Newark to be sketchy and not super safe. I used to be a flight attendant based out of EWR 30 years ago and it hasn't changed. We went to the Prudential Center for a concert, so we were just in and out for one night. I wouldn't recommend vacationing here ever.
Great location, super stylish hotel. Staff were super helpful (shout out to Scarlet, Nicole, Juan and Steven!!) Scarlet and Nicole especially were so kind and accommodating when I asked for early check in after a looooong night at the airport. They got me in as soon as possible (which I completely didn't expect...I was in a clean, made up room by NINE!!) and came to get me to let me know while I was eating breakfast. Honestly such a blessing after a stressful airport experience. Couldn't be more pleased with my experience.
We arrived around midnight in Newark airport, but it was very easy to find this hotel's shuttle bus and within half an hour we were in the hotel. The receptionist welcomed us and gave us a free room upgrade, which we really appreciated. The rooms are clean and spacious, with everything you need for your travel. The breakfast is very nice as well, which scrambled eggs, different muffins, breakfast cereals, juices and so on. All in all a very satifying experience.
The hotel is very close to the Newark International Airport so it was perfect for me since I had a late flight in. It worked wonderfully for me. The room was surprisingly big, well-equipped with amenities - they might come in handy for those staying longer than just one night. Also the commute to Manhattan is unproblematic. The breakfast was humble but still varied. It was all I needed and expected.
They have a shuttle from the hotel to the Air Train nearby. With the Air Train, you arrive at Airport.
Breakfast is included in the price; it is quite basic, but it makes things easier since there is nothing nearby for you to have breakfast or to buy something. The room seems to be brand new, decoration is fine. Bed, pillows and covers are very comfortable. Large and beautiful sink counter.
The location was perfect for the situation: a 12 hours layover between flights. The owner of this small business adapted to my needs, offering to return me to the airport the next morning. Five minute drive to airport. Small breakfast with fruit and coffee was ready for me. Shared bathroom was hotel quality and clean. Like being at home.
Hotel was new and rooms nice and big with modern facilities. Down stairs has a restaurant & small coffee shop. The shuttle was handy from Newark but the drivers not always too friendly. The location is next to a prison and far from any shops/facilities. I didn't feel safe. You cannot go anywhere from the hotel unless its by Taxi.
Really nice room with very comfortable beds. Staff was very nice and helpful to accommodate my needs after a very bad flight, so thanks for them! The hotel has a free shuttle to and from the airport every half hour. The hotel is at a walking distance to Newark Penn Station, which was very good.
Near the airport and shuttle to and from Newark airport was a major convenience. If you are in transit alone or as a couple this hotel will work. Any thing more in terms of number of people or number of nights I would not consider it at all.
Location is good, close to Newark airport with a shuttle going every half hour. Going back to the airport in the morning was really fast since I left from Terminal A, which is the first stop. Room was clean with nice beds.
It was in a great area, close to the Jersey Garden Mall, there was a IHOP and Ruby Tuesday within walking distance from the Hotel, shuttle service to and from the airport, they also offered breakfast in the morning.
proximity to airport, so very good connectivity. Going to Penn Station in downtown NYC was quite a breeze, with a train station nearby to hotel, accessible by hotel shuttle and air train.
Hotel is placed in nice neighborhood, by the river, 20min walk from Harrison path station, 10min drive from Newark Penn station.
Room is big and clean, breakfast great.
Would come again.
I was there for a concert so it's a walking distance from Prudential Center. Also, in front of the hotel is Newark Penn so it's easily accessible to go anywhere. Amazing staff.
NOTHING is a SHAME find hotel like Riviera Newark and pay € 120 / night
