This place is about 5 to10mins drive from the nearest main road. Seems like a quiet farm area to me. The key is self collection and you are able to park your vehicle on the premise for free. Everything is so comfy here and it is getting real dark during night hence make it a good spot for aurora hunting. Got the necessary facility in the unit as well. We are the sole guests during that night so can't really comment on soundproofing part that we read from other comments. Overall I would say it is a good place to spend your night at Iceland

Wonderful Hidden Gem of a Hotel and Breakfast was OUTSTANDING
Rooms are quiet and comfortable and well maintained and upgraded.
Shower was a little tight and needs some update to make a little safer for people stepping in and out. A grab bar or better flooring would help.
But overall WELL DONE

Hvolsvöllur is a small town (village?), but you can find restaurants, petrol station, supermarket here, therefore ideal base of excursions -for instance to the Golden Circle (North West) or Vik region (South West).
Nevertheless there is a very special facility, the Lava Centre which much be visited definitely.

The owners were very friendly.
The owners were very friendly. They help us even at midnight. The apartment was big, clean, enough for 6 people. The place was near by the Golden circle, Black beach and other attractions. Definitely recomend it.

The proximity to the ferry for the Westman Islands was the reason we chose this property - it was only 10mins drive from the ferry terminal. Additionally, the property is 1km from Seljalandfoss, meaning you can visit away from the busiest times of day. The cabins were literally on the ring road, making it easy to find but no need to worry about noise. A very good place to stay the night and enjoy all the amazing attractions between Seljanlandfoss and Vik.

The Lava Center is a phenomenal place to stop.
The Lava Center is a phenomenal place to stop. The exhibits are interactive and so well done, all ages will appreciate learning more about Iceland's volcanos.
We heard that there were tours for hiking out of this area, but the weather was way too extreme for us to check that out.
Even greater than expected, everything was of very high construction quality, very spacious room, also a spacious shower in the private bathroom, giant bed, very practical arrangement of all the things. Felt like a 4 star hotel, except that this place is in the middle of nowhere (which is a very positive thing, everything super quiet and you're close to nature). Good variety of breakfast, flexible check in and check out. Good self adjustable heating.
I cannot compliment this place enough. The owner family has put their heart in to this hotel and we get to enjoy the results: 2 hot tubs with awesome mountain views, beautifully decorated lobby, bar and restaurant in harmony with the stunning view outside and the most perfect breakfast. The bed was good and bathroom had quality products. I very much recommend this place if you value beauty and great breakfast. This will crown your trip to Iceland.
Fit perfectly for our group of 5, the apartment is spacious with well equipped kitchen, a bonus would be the washing machine and dryer for us to do our laundry which the other places we had stay in Iceland do not have it, finally we can wash some of our dirty laundry due to some rainy days. Check-in was fuss free as owner has provided key box pin and apartment details prior to check-in. There is also supermarket nearby for groceries needs.
I stayed in Cottage #1 with two friends, and it was a perfect base of operations for some exploration in the southern parts of Iceland. The setting is lovely and quiet, the cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our two night stay. We made use of the kitchen in the cottage, so did not purchase the breakfast that was available in the guesthouse, but it was nice to have that option.
The cottages are lovely and have all the necessary amenities to spend a few days. The check in process was very easy, and check in and check out could be done any time without having to wait. Located in the nature, the surroundings were calm and on a clear day you can even see one of Iceland's most beautiful waterfalls from the cottage.
This hotel/lodge is the definition of aesthetically pleasing. From the cute little cabin rooms, to the AMAZING views, to the lobby with huge glass windows. Everything was perfect. The reception girls were so kind. Breakfast was so cute and cozy watching the sunrise. We even got to see the northern lights the one night we were there!!
The apartment was excellently situated, and in a great location for exploring south west Iceland. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Good restaurants were also within walking distance. The hosts were also extremely accommodating and easy to deal with.
We appreciated the size of the room: in 3 there was plenty of space to move around and have full access to our luggage in order to dry all clothes.
This was the hotel that most surprised us as it had everything one could need and ask for, in addition to a very convenient location.
Fantastic hotel which is completely isolated.
Nice dinner, they sent us the menu in advance to order. They had a vegan burger which was fantastic.
Breakfast was nice, a little bit of fresh fruit, bread, jam, eggs bacon and beans as well as cereals.
Highly recommend.
Our family of 5 did not want to leave! So very comfortable. The hot tub was amazing. All amenities and supplies were fabulous. Super cute loft and bunk for kids. Relaxing…off the beaten path. Probably one of the most amazing views in Iceland from the living room/kitchen window.
We arrived in Iceland around 5:30am and decided to start our trip immediately. This hotel was our first night. The chicken dinner was very good as well as the breakfast. We thought we would be too tired to sleep, but was able to sleep through the night. Very nice stay.
We liked everything about this place. Staff was fantastic/super friendly. Food was excellent. Room was very comfortable and quiet. Best was some special-event entertainment that we were able to attend. This place was our favorite in Iceland.
Rental is a full house lost in the Icelandic countryside, surrounded by horses. Beautiful view of Vestmannaeyjar from the house. Very quiet and practical with three bedrooms, a bathroom and a big living room and kitchen. I recommend it :)
The view from the hotel was amazing. There is a beautiful mountain behind it.
The towel and sheets were very cool.
The room was little bit small but it was enough for us.
There are two dogs, they were so kind and smart.
The beds were super comfy, better than some hotels even. Showers and toilet facilities were very clean as well. Appreciated that they provided a electronic drying rack and shoe dryers too!
Clean. Modern. Friendly owners and staff. Great lighting in the room.
Great breakfast, and they even offer dinner, which was delicious. For such a remote area hotel Selja is a gem.
