The room was quite clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay together with my wife. The hotel was very close to town center and Alnwick Castle. All the things surrounding have great atmosphere like old and well preserved buildings, cosy bars and green lands. In the morning we drank our coffees at the space with tables and chairs just in front of the hotel. The hotel manager was also so kind and hospitable.
Featuring free WiFi and a terrace, The Cookie Jar (Alnwick) was formerly the Convent of Mercy, and is just 0.2 miles from the center of Alnwick.

Words really fail me to explain how special this property was. The attention to every single detail was exquisite. I’m a professional organizer. My business is details. I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything - even the lights on the floor that automatically come on when you walk into the bathroom - was planned perfectly when this former convent was remodeled to make a sacred space for all its guests. There was even framed sheet music in the halls to, I assume, pay homage to the beautiful music that must’ve once graced the hallways.
The staff was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was like something out of a Veranda magazine spread. The breakfast was delicious.
At every turn in the hotel and the room itself, we were met with a delightful and unexpected experience.
Who puts this much thought into a public space? The Cookie Jar does. You made our once-in-a-lifetime trip unforgettable.
We would like to introduce you to The Tempus at Charlton Hall Estate, a decadent place where colors collide, and imaginations are captured.

Fab stay only negative was that I booked this as a surprise and on arrival told if we had not booked a table we could not get food as fully booked which I understand but could have offered to order food still and take to room if needed

Alnwick is a good place to visit and is an ideal base for exploring the area.
There are a number of good restaurants and cafes.
Alnwick Castle is worth a visit, but don’t bother with Alnwick Gardens as they are small and over priced.

This was our first visit to Alnwick and we've fallen in love! There were so many intriguing and characterful shops to explore and we were spoilt for choice for lovely places to eat. We would whole heartedly recommend eating a SherKhan - some of the best curry we've ever had - and also The Adam and Eve.
Dirty Bottles is a fab venue, great for a drink but would skip the very averge food next time.

The castle and gardens were closed but we have been in them before and so we were not disappointed. A walk along the river at the back of the castle is very nice and a good test of your waterproofs and footwear. Hulne park has good walks. Alnwick is a beautiful town. Berwick and Morpeth nearby, complement the area.

Alnwick is an excellent centre for visiting many locations in Northumberland, with lots of scenic coastline and castles on your doorstep. There are plenty of excellent places to eat however if you are going to stay over a weekend I would recommend booking a table in advance as they all get very busy. If you want to book the treetop restaurant book months on advance to avoid disappointment. Alnwick castle and gardens are a must if you have never visited before.

Both The Garden and Castle were well worth the ticket price.
Both The Garden and Castle were well worth the ticket price.
Informative tours are available with very knowledgeable staff. Even if you don't take a tour of the castle and wander around yourself, staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have about the history of the castle and gardens . A fantastic place to visit.
We popped out for a walk around the town mid visit and had no issue getting back in to the castle afterwards.
A great stay and very convenient for a night on the way home from a few days' holiday in Northumberland. Superb breakfast, very friendly host and clear instructions. I appreciated being able to check in after midday (notified on the day this was possible and fitted well with my plans). The room was well equipped with everything I needed including fresh milk in the mini fridge ready for a cup of tea on arrival! The recommendation of nearby restaurants was very helpful - I had a lovely meal at Mumbai Flavours in the centre of Alnwick.
Very spacious, comfortable and peaceful, in spite of being in the centre of Alnwick. Although the building itself is very old inside it was very warm and welcoming with thoughtful touches which made it a very happy and relaxing place to stay. The view of Alnwick Castle from the bedroom was great. Excellent location for castle and gardens and for visiting other parts of Northumberland. Plenty of food shops and places to eat too. There are free car parks up behind Morrisons, but have to move car every 24 hours so had to remember.
Perfect location, well set up and set out. So comfortable and cosy, a home away from home (but tidier😁)..All with a wonderful "welcome".
Plenty of helpful notes and instructions around the place, to make sure you don't have any problems (and yes the binmen are great, so please put the bins out.😂)
Alnwick is so nice and to have somewhere like this to use as a base is fantastic. Probably shouldn't be so gushing in my praise, as I don't want to find it fully booked for our return visit!!!
The friendliest welcome from a perfect gent. Couldn't be more attentive. Room was lovely size to the front of the property. Comfortable and clean room. All the little details, fantastic, even an umbrella in the room. They seem to have considered everything for their visitors.
Breakfast was to a very high standard. Taking personal preferences into account.
Great place to stay, a traditional B&B.
I found this to be a good base for a walking the Northumberland Coast Path, with bus stops within a few minutes’ walk and just 15 minutes’ walk to the centre of Alnwick with its bus station. My hotel room was clean and very comfortable, with an ample supply of toiletries. The food in the restaurant was very good. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Fabulous place beautifully and exceptionally well decorated and absolutely spotless clean. Everything and much more than we needed for a very comfortable stay everything looks brand new. Found free on street parking easily. 2 mins walk to castle, pubs, shops and lovely restaurants. Great base for us to explore Northumberland. Highly recommended.
The room was extremely comfortable & had everything we needed. The location was really good for the town, Alnwick Castle & Gardens + Barters Bookshop. Parking was just across the street in the hotel carpark.
Hotel was great and in a great location with easy access to shops, restaurants and Alnwick Castle. The check-in experiences was slick and the rooms were very spacious and comfortable.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The hotel was interesting - the dining room was once part of the Olympic (sister ship of the Titanic).
My room was clean and comfortable.
Excellent boutique hotel beautifully furnished. The Staff were superb as was the food. Centrally located in Alnwick with many restaurants and pubs within walking distance.
Great location, right in the middle of Alnwick. Rooms very spacious and tastefully decorated.
