The hotel is beautifully situated on Lake Ashi, right beside Hakone Shrine and the Tori gate out in the lake. The hotel runs a shuttle bus from the nearby transpot hub on the banks of the lake, where buses to and from Odawara as well as the sightseeing cruise ships can be boarded. It’s pretty close to the main train station. The (restaurant) staff was pleasant. We enjoyed the onsite onsen. The town shut down early, so it was convenient having the Box Burger right there. Pro-tip - Five minutes away is a cute shrine “Hien Waterfall” that should be visited.

It’s a beautiful spot to visit.

It’s a beautiful spot to visit. I recommend 2-3 days to really experience and explore. I got the Hakone free pass and made my way around the loop over 2 days and the scenery was breathtaking, an extra day would have allowed deeper relaxation and extra exploring. Definitely explore the shrines around the lake and try and get to an Onsen while you are there. I did find it tricky to find tattoo cover patches, so possibly worth looking into before travelling to Hakone if you need to cover up.

    Beautiful nature and atmosphere.

Beautiful nature and atmosphere. The trip to Lake Ashimoto was lovely and the scenery impressive. The highlight of our stay in Hakone was dipping in the local onsens, we loved the experience and the feeling of relaxation after a bath. We ate at different local restaurants, mostly found via map apps, which made great food at reasonable prices. We used the Hakone Pass to get around using trains, cable cars and the ropeway, all very convenient and easy to use. We could have used a couple extra days to visit some of the attractions in the area, that we did not have enough time to enjoy.

We chose this hotel for the private onsen in the room which was great ! The hotel also has its own outdoor and indoor onsens. Location was ideal for hiking - we got the ship across Lake Ashi and did a walk up Mount Mikuni and the surrounding mountains. You can get great views of Mount Fuji from the lake (which is a 10 min walk down from the hotel) if the weather is clear. To get here we got a train to Odawara and then a bus (ask tourist information in the station) which took about an hour, and there's a bus stop right outside the hotel.

Unbeatable price for Hakone. This is an annex to the Suimei hotel across the street, so you get to use their onsens without paying the high price of accommodation. Very nice onsen, especially on very cold February days. Good location just a few minutes from the train station and bus depot, as well as a 7-11 and Lawson and lots and lots of places to eat. A good-sized mini-frig. A top sheet on the bed as well as a comforter. Very effective heater in a small room.

The ryokan is located less than a 10-minute walk away from Hakone-Yumoto train station and a 3-minute walk away from a bus stop. The onsen is very beautiful and the water is lukewarm - perfect temperature. The Japanese garden is breathtaking. The staff were very kind and helpful, and one of them even helped me put on my yukata for me to go to the onsen. There are free soft drinks in the lounge. There's an in-house steak restaurant that serves quality wagyu beef.

This ryokan is so elegant and inviting. Our room was amazing with an incredible view. The private onsen in our room was so relaxing and just delightful. One of the nicest hotel showers ever! The kaiseki dinner was beautiful, and even though Japanese breakfast isn't to my taste, the presentation itself was lovely. It was such a great one night splurge, so relaxing and rejuvenating. The shuttle service was great and made travel to and from Hakone-Yumoto a breeze.

The staff (Kyoko) was so very accommodating and helpful. The private onsens were perfect for the members of my family afraid of public baths, while still providing a hot spring experience. There was only a single fee for using the bath. Everything about this place is very fair priced and great value. The close 30 min walk from Lake Ashi (my favorite part of Hakone) made this place a hidden gem.
