I like the location of the town, the vibrant character of the town with its bustling shops and terrific collection of restaurants including a handful that are Michelin-recommended (but not starred YET).
I like the size of the town- not too big, not too small, totally walkable and easy to learn your way around!
A most beautiful location, on the wester shore of Lake Maggiore with snow capped Italian and Swiss alps visible on the horizons above the lake in early to mid may, and best (ferry) access to the 3 nearby Borromean islands, two with their beautiful tourable Palace and Gardens (Isola Madre and Isola Bella) and one for its shops and eateries ( Isla Pescatori aka Superiore).
Restaurant prices are ridiculously affordable compared to Milan or Switzerland: a foodie heaven. Michelin-listed restaurants (not yet "starred to my knowledge) serve exceptional and genuine regional fare, my favorites were Al Vicoletto, Ristorante Pizzeria Pappagallo, Lo Stornello, and the one we didn't have a chance to reach but will next time is on the hills above Stresa with the views called La Rampolina.
If you are a wine lover or foodie, be sure to stop by the La Cambusa Wine shop for a free tasting and learn the owner's secret favorites!

Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake.
Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake. The apartment was comfortable and beautifully decorated and well equipped for our stay. The train was about a 10 minute walk and has easy access to Milan and also to Switzerland. It was very quiet when we went and perhaps will visit when busier as some thing were still closed such as two of the islands but it was early in the year before the season began. The lake and views are stunning and well worth a visit, nicer than stayin in Milan city centre.

A very picturesque town right on the water.
A very picturesque town right on the water. However most restaurants were closed in February, the shops were closed on Monday and there was very little to do except take the ferry to Isola Pescatore and Isola Madre. After travelling further around the Lake I would stay next time at Arona. Much busier little town with lots of restaurants and shops open. As well as being on the Lake.

One of my all-time favorites. I like to come back over and over, again.
Nice atmosphere and charming town center. One of the best gelaterias !!! Great restaurants and nice to just hang out.
The Borromean Islands and the hermitage Santa Caterina are great places to visit - or you can go to the other side of the lake, even the Swiss part
Overall, people are very friendly

Proximity to the lake was excellent.
Proximity to the lake was excellent. Majority of restaurants very good, some pricier than others of course but several with sensible prices. The food on the whole was excellent and plenty of it. The owners of the restaurants and their staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. the fish featured prominently on all the menus and was excellent and fresh.

Not very much to do historically - BUT wonderful for restaurants, ice cream shops, views of the lake. A really good centre for a holiday on Lake Maggiore. Great to be able to go from there by boat to the islands very conveniently. There is also a railway station which is very handy.
This luxury hotel lives up to its name. The staff are well trained to please their guests, the spaces in the hotel are copious, with interesting paintings on the walls. The location is quiet however there is easy access to boats which visit the Borromeo islands, and it is an easy walk into the centre of Stresa. The location is easy to find and there is plenty of space for car parking. The restaurant and bar are correct for an establishment of this quality. A bargain.
Fabulous hotel, perfectly located in Stresa. Fantastic reception staff - we made the booking at 8.30am, arrived at 9.30am the same day. We were able to park our car in the secure car park and when we asked reception if this was ok as we were early, they told us our room was ready immediately. Absolutely amazing, thank you. Breakfast in the restaurant was great and the roof terrace was beautiful. Will definitely return.
A charming family run Italian Hotel.
Our balcony had a magnificent view of Lake MAGIORE, loved sitting there having our lunch which we bought from a supermarket at STRESA the town located way down the winding road from the hotel. we had a car but it was a very long and winding road down!!!
From the town of STRESA you can catch a hop on, hop off ferry to explore the other Towns/places on Lake MAGIORE.
Luca was a fantastic host, he made this B&B feel like a five star hotel - in a home made setting! He was very helpful in giving recommendations for how to get the best out of Stresa.
The room was very clean and well equipped. Breakfast in the garden was great, with bread fresh from the bakery.
The location is in a calm area, close to one of two ports for the ferry, e.g. to explore Isola Bella.
This was a last minute reservation for us, so we were very happy that the hotel made room for us to stay. It was incredible that they put us in a room with the best view the hotel had. We extended our stay an additional night to take advantage of luck. Nice property across the street from the ferry terminal which was very convenient and very close to the old town and many restaurants and shops.
I read many reviews and chose this hotel over others in Stresa based on the positive reviews. The hotel and grounds are pretty, the pool area was good and there is a nice view from the rooftop. It was a 15 min walk along the lake to get to the main part of town. The room was comfortable with a nice terrace which faced the street (Comfort double room.) It was all very clean.
The view was gorgeous!
The host was very sympathic and she gave us good advices for restaurants and points to check.
The location was good, just above the lake with, as we said, an incredible view!!
You can forget the hotels in the city, here is the best location in Stresa!
PS: special mention for the Rampolina restaurant that we loved.

The location of the hotel overlooking the lake was perfect. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English. Everyone was very helpful, especially helping us to manage parking our car. The room was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable.
We loved this Hotel, our huge room had a balcony overlooking the main square in Stresa and would have been quite grand back in the day. The whole place was spotless and the staff were very welcoming, particularly the owner, she even baked cake!
Small hotel right in the centre of Stresa, very convenient for visits to the town and surrounding areas. Public parking nearby and restaurant on site. Room more than adequate for a two night stay. Friendly staff.
A wonderful old hotel with great style. Dinner was terrific (although they might want to consider dimming the lights a bit). Great location in Stresa, which was a much more interesting town than we expected.
An old-fashioned hotel in the best sense of the term. I had a tiny but well designed room with a view of the lake. The breakfast buffet is lavish. The hotel is at the very heart of Stresa.
Friendly, helpful staff!! You must stay for the breakfast. Romantic hotel with a timeless historical feel and spectacular views! All within minutes of Stresa’s village and boat launches.
