This is not ancient Egypt and some parts of the city can appear very run down, especially the commercial area of downtown, so it takes a short while to get used too. However, the endless deep sandy beach with no end of cafes and beach facilities is what makes this a centre of domestic tourism. Also, the beach road strip is full of great food options - the De Lesseps Avenue is a row of food outlets in shipping containers - very industrial chic. The town itself has very smart parks which are lively and buzzy especially in the evening and no end of magnificant churches and mosques. Also, the amazing late 19C wooden balconied tenaments that characterise the downtown area are amazing, if appearing to be on the verge of collapse. The continuous ferry service, free, no wait time, to get across to Port Faoud is a must, the lovely villas and cottages built for the canal workers make for a great stroll. The Famous Canal Port Office is inaccessible and under major restoration and the lighthouse cannot be visited, but these along with more quirky architecture can be still be seen. As I say, not ancient and certainly a little odd, but well worth a visit if you check out what to see and read up a bit before you arrive.

The hotel we stayed in was beautiful with spacious rooms . The fact that it is located right in the middle of the city had its own advantages; we had ease of access to the tourist attractions and shopping areas. The staff are super friendly and super helpful especially the staff at the reception. We had breakfast at the hotel which though satisfactory, could do with more variety. There are several fast food joints but we could have wished for more local cuisine.
The cabs are super efficient with standard charges; no hiking of fares for foreigners detected. We visited the salt mountain in Port Fuad, used the ferry which is free. Went to the lake with flamingoes and also visited the amazing St. Marks Church. We chanced on a second hand market opposite the fish market selling amazing stuff.
Port Said is clean, organized and unique .
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would most certainly visit Port Said again.

It is a wonderful city needs more staying but the price of rooms are higher than the same stars in Cairo as I spent 3 days in Cairo and paid 450 LE per night and there was internet in the room and good view from window.

A major coastal city , plenty of historical sites ( military and national museums) , Cosmopolitan Christian locations for Believers, saint Beshoi's church in Manshiya square has Virgin Mary's picture dripping sacred oil till now!
Mega Catholic cathedral which contains part of Jesus Christ's Cross!
Also a heaven for Fish Eaters
Beach safe & quiet , though water isn't transparent
Cheap clothing items available at some locations
Loved this historic hotel. We paid extra for a triple room 207 which had two balconies. Worth it for the extra space too. We even spotted a tanker one morning through the window. Staff were lovely and we managed with translator. Yes the floor boards are creaky but it has character. Nice place to sit downstairs or outside and have coffee and breakfast of falafel, bread, cheeses, beans
Nice little takeaway falafel place down the road and a 3 min walk to the sea. I was able to get hot water for my coffee downstairs.
This is really a great and nice place to visit and stay, I hope we have the chance to repeat my visit there multiple times, special thanks goes to:
Mr Bassem (Reception Manager): for his continuous support, well-responding to guests requirements.
Mr: Amr (Hotel Manager) for his warm welcoming to us once we arrived at the hotel.
Mr: Abd ElNasser from Room service was is a very kind and honest in his work, satisfying's our requests and well-organizing our rooms everyday.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Marom, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. The luxurious accommodations, coupled with exceptional service, made my stay truly memorable. The hotel’s prime location made exploring the city a breeze, and I can’t wait to return to Marom on my next visit. Highly recommended!
the hotel construction is not finished yet, some minor inputs needs to be completed.
swimming pool is more than excellent, staff are very very polite needs more training.
food and beverage is acceptable mid average.
The reception was good and their good service during the check in & check out. The rooms view was marvelous. There are regular shuttles to take visitors from the hotel to the city and get them back to the hotel.
