Great small community everyone very friendly. Great choice of eateries and pubs. Excellent beach, walks and cycle tracks. Great walks everywhere....a beach that constantly changes ...if you are a beachcomber, you will find something...Excellent trips close to town....great walking opportunities. Westport has a lot to offer and one day was not enough.
Westport has a lot to offer and one day was not enough. There is really a lot to do and see and explore in this area. We went to Denniston Mine, walked on the Kawatiri trail by the harbor, the seal colony and the lighthouse. Tauranga Bay and the estuaries are worth exploring.

Westport has some lovely estuary walks where you can see herons, weka and stilts. There are many friendly cafes with good food. The prices everywhere are reasonable. You can do trips to see a lighthouse, seals, beaches. It is bike friendly. You can bike to all of these on a cycle path. Further afield Denniston and Coalbrookdale have 1 hour historic walks. Once Coal Town reopens in 2024 it will again have a museum.

Would be where I stayed again if I headed back to Westport.
