I grew up in Alexandria as a boy and was returning for a reunion. Like many towns across America, city centers are in economic decay. Sadly, Alexandria is one of them. Also, urban crime has increased. FYI. the Bently Hotel is an iconic Edwardian Period Alexandria building built in 1908. I think that the most visitors to Alexandira are regional people coming for conferences in the connected Exhibition Center or like me are going to a reunion or a wedding.

My best experience was the customer representative at Avis/Budget Rental car at the airport! The young lady was very helpful ( both her and coworker) shared information about things in the area etc. my reservation was booked incorrectly and she was able to find my the last vehicle they had.

The room smelled of mold, there were house flys and spiders in the room and the construction sound from the floor beneath us.
On bookings.com the hotel has good pictures of May be one or two refurnished rooms but majority of rooms were very old so it was a classic bait and switch trap.
We ended up staying less than two hours because the smells and construction noises were unbearable. And we did not get a refund after cancellation. The staff was unapologetic and took my request unwillingly to send it to the manager promising that the manager would call me but I am still waiting for the call. We paid $210 for a two hour, uncomfortable room.
I am writing because I don’t want others to suffer like us and over pay for a below par room.

I wouldn’t recommend visiting Alexandria to anyone.
I wouldn’t recommend visiting Alexandria to anyone. The cops harass you if you are from out of town because they automatically assume you are transporting drugs. The town has a horrible homeless population who struggle with addiction and/or mental illness. No resources for this population. It’s a run down ugly little racist town. I am blessed to not live there anymore.

I evacuated to Alexandria with the residents of the nursing home I work for, due to hurricane Laura in Aug 2020. I was impressed with the Hotel Bentley and Holiday Inn downtown (they fed us). Not impressed with Holiday Inn Downtown this stay.

I previously gave a review and I want to change some information.. After looking at my account, I was NOT charged the additional $250 that I was told I would be. I just reviewed my account today. I looked at it previously and the charges were $260 (which was put on my card when I arrived for 2 nights) and an additional $100 after we left. Both were pending. I figured the following: $98 per night, an additional %15 per the website. I wasn't sure if they would refund the 2nd night or not. I figured if they did, I was charged the $98 for one night plus tax which equaled $114.80 plus $250 like I was told which would have been $364.80 total. So I waited to see the final charge. s stated I looked today and it only showing $114.80.
I want to state the room was very nice. This was my rating for the room itself from the beginning. It was the staff member (just one) that was, in my opinion, unprofessional. Thank you.
If I could give this facility a zero, I would. Shower lukewarm water, towels were dirty, toilet paper fixture missing, bathroom floor filthy, shower curtain non-functional, thermostat for a/c broken, breakfast room dirty, very little selection, water in pool green, elevator not working. This place should be closed down by the health department.
We didn't go for the breakfast option, so can't comment.
Staff very friendly & quick to help when we needed anything.
The rooms are good size with en-suite facilities. The sliding door to those en-suite facilities helped with space utilisation.
Bed comfortable & good size. Towels replaced daily.

We stopped at the restaurant for dessert and drinks (for the parents) before heading to bed. The desserts were AMAZING!!! My husband and kids are also big on history so they loved the little sprinklings of historical pieces around the hotel! The beignets were amazing!
Not one thing there is bugs in the rooms the rooms are completely horrible they don't offer towels and all you have to get ur own towel from front desk and return them to get new ones they don't pick your trash up like normal hotels drug deals people it's horrible
The check in staff was so pleasant and helpful. I lived in Alexandria 25 years ago and Marissa helped me identify old familiary places. The room was above ANY hotel I've visited. It felt like I'd just moved into an apartment! It had everything we needed.
Never received confirmation for stay because i didn't finish booking room.and was charged for 2 nights!! Didn't find out until I checked my bank statement. The next morning of supposed check in. I blame booking. Com not the hotel.
Not much it was raining as much in side of the Hotel as it was Outside. BUCKET Everywhere on the Inside. You could smell the mold in the Carpet around the Rooms.
The pictures online of this hotel were beautiful however the hotel itself was very outdated. It was functional but not very nice. I was extremely disappointed.
The only good thing about this hotel was the size of the room. As well as the hardwood floor. There was nothing else good. Like literally nothing else.
